Been wrestling this for 10-15 years! lol I typically dupe the track and make one instance inactive but it doesn't always work. This is helpful! Cheers

Thanks for putting this on, found out a few more Pro Tools commands for Midi. Discovered my issue was the Instrument track group had been muted at some point, which only displays on the Mix view. So I can hear all the midi again finally. Regards Peter

Thanks for the video. Quite a few good tips here. I'm just getting back into PT after years of NOT. The problem I keep running into seems like (at least from a computer programming perspective) a memory management problem. I will load a previously recorded session and hit play and everything sounds great. Then I hit play a second time and none of my instrument tracks (or only some) play. I don't believe there's any indication of a problem (not grayed out, etc) it just doesn't play. If I restart PT or just disable/renable a problem track, it works again. My PC has 64GB of ram and I don't have hard drives, just SSDs. In theory it should not be running out of memory this easily. I'm starting to think that I have to always bounce a midi instrument track to audio and then hide/disable the instrument track. One example is a cover I made of "Summer Highland Falls". There's an instrument track for drums (Superior Drummer plugin), one for piano that uses PT's baby grand, and one for some keyboard stuff. The rest are audio tracks. Having three instrument tracks doesn't seem like it should cause this issue. But it does. Not much running on the PC other than PT, although I do have BitDefender.

Hi! I'm not sure what's causing your problem, but one way I bet you could manage it is through the freeze track function.

@@CatoNoise I just spent a few minutes learning how to disable BitDefender while I use Pro Tools. I played my session like 4 consecutive times and no issues at all. Wow. It REALLY eats up your system.

I'm having a midi issue I've not had before. I'm getting a "protools midi error n/a because possible feedback loop detected". This is on an instrument track with Kontakt loaded. I've deleted and added new instrument tracks, tried different instruments. I also tried closing protools and did a full reboot. No luck finding a solution on the DUC forum. I'm running 2023.6 on a Mac Studio. Any suggestions?

I'm not a Pro Tools user but the actual midi channel can be also an issue. It's easy to overlook, especially if the transmit and receive channels are set differently on a hardware synth.
