For a 25k budget , for a classic it would be a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, the original hooligan hatchback, and for a modern classic it would be the 205 GTi.

I would also have a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. A proper hot hot hatch.

The Dacia Sprung sounds great - people have been calling out for a low powered, lightweight and cheap EV : this is your time to shine ⚡️👍🏻

Indeed it is!
I wouldn’t need £25k as I’ve already bought my ‘modern’ classic a 2003 SL500 R230 for just under £10k! Low mileage great history and fantastic condition with a fantastic V8 engine to give any petrol head that certain ‘tingle’…… The rest of the money I could spend on many happy miles of motoring, and yes, any necessary repairs! If you insist on me spending that much then I’d treat myself to the SL55 👍
My classic would be a Jag Xjs.Always liked them after seeing the white one in Return Of The Saint back in the day.Showing my age there.
Love MID -WEEK 180 always interesting inside information for us . Where we are at Recaro USA getting custom made Carbon Recaro Podium for our cars it’s interesting how much measurement and work of whole team it’s involved making sure our seats fits like glove. 🏁🏁🏁
Hello pal, weather is a PIA big time.
My £25K would probably go on an Aston Martin V8 vantage. Still think it’s one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
I was still making dinner when the video went live. Hokkien Noodles, one of my favorite dishes 👍. As for the modern classic I would go for the Porsche Boxster 986S. I had one for quite some time and really loved it. I had the full Fabspeed exhaust and ECU tune on it. The sound was awesome and the amount of power wasn’t too silly so you could really push it before doing crazy stuff.

Good evening Peddlerz 😊 Like the cycle jumper Ped 🤓👌 Hope you've been out in Ruby treating her to a few Broad jaunts! Classic for £25k, a 1970 Mercedes Benz 600🙏. Dacia EV looks decent enough for what you get... An original Renault 5 Turbo EV would be immense! Enjoy Finland, love the Baltic states...looking forward to Drive talk for the classic and modern classic, strong money for them now, especially 80s & 90s, I love mine. Can't wait to see Friday off-roading and camping in the beast!

(Sigh...) In a perfect world...Dacia would bring their Spring EV to my island of O'ahu. A range of 120-140 miles would be perfect in Hawai'i. Your fellow KZreadrs seemed to rave about it yesterday on KZread and I really like it, too. Were Dacia to {magically...) sell it here, I might even bother to get a new driving license so I could own and drive one. IN a perfect world...a Dacia Spring would be a nice car to hold my bike(s) for specific biking trips as well. In my youth, I wanted an MGB-GT. So, my £25k would go for an MGB-GT...and a lorry-load of spares. For a modern classic? A VW Golf Mk2! It needn't be a GTi, either. Just a Golf with the 5-speed manual gearbox would be lovely. I have nice memories of driving a friend's Mk2 for thousands of kilometres in Germany.... Ah, youth...
Ped, always raining these days!

Hi Ped If the £25k budget for a classic car had been available last week, I would have bought a superb one owner Mazda MX5 2L on the Pistonheads Auction site which sold for just over £10k. Full history less than 10,000 miles. Lot of fun for very reasonable money, and £15k in the bank. What is not to like?😉

Great value 👍
I already have a modern classic, so I would go full Classic and get a 105 Series Alfa Romeo coupe, maybe a GTV. I wonder if there will be enough change to add some choice Alfaholics suspension components. If not save over time and add them later!👍🏽
Most of the sports cars I owned back in the late 60s early 70s would cost more than £25k today which probably says more about the ones that have rusted away rather than the ones that survived. Having said that if you can find me another Sunbeam Tiger 260 for the money bring it on.
Great video as always , silly question what brand are your reading glasses ? Cheers

Evening everyone. I guess more of a future classic, but I’d have a Volvo v60 Polestar
My modern classic would be getting the one car I owned that was truly special for me, an early (2006-07) Jaguar XK. I could drive this with hand controls, and no-one had a clue I was a leg amputee until I got out to get to my wheelchair. Sadly, economics of disabled living meant I had to sell it to survive. Currently confined to much bed rest to sort out medical issue on remaining leg, will be missing many events in the hope of being well enough to attend Goodwood #81MM.
25k there are a number, but for a true classic a 2cv. Never wanted to own one, but really appreciate it for what it was. I wonder if there are many unmolested ones out there 😁
£25k Classic, TR6. Get one of the best for that. Proper sports car, great noise/fun can get all the parts to keep it going. That Dacia could be a good school run/shopping/commute car. The NCAP 1 star might put families off.
Where do you get your cycling jerseys there great more info please. I would buy a original audi quattro just about .

I like the look and idea of the Dacia Spring, but it seems to be NCAP 1 which would explain the weight and price. I could be wrong, but not sure that I want to trade safety that much. Maybe a used ev with a good NCAP is a better bet 🤷🏻♂️
For a future classic I'd go slightly lower budget, Pete. You can pick up a VW Phaeton for less than £10K. Basically, a Bentley Continental with a VW badge.

Hello,Peter! Be careful in the comments on tat new Dacia…this morning I commented on a FB page that it might be based on many Renault Zoe underpinning’s and unleashed a bunch of keyboard warriors attacking me for “ hating” EV’s….i never said a thing like that but the ferocity and nastiness of the postings was just disturbing…I deleted the lot later on. £25,000 Classic…well the best Mercedes SL 500 I could find would be an idea…or a 1989 Astra GTE perhaps even if just for that magical engine! I now hate rain. I shall tune in for the R5 ….so keep safe…drive more cars!!😃😃😃😃😃Richard.

@@PetrolPedYou have my sympathy and admiration for dealing with it. How people can post really attacking and totally stupid stuff on a public media forum is concerning. It did not upset me as such but the personal abuse generated by saying that car “was a Renault”…which was not what I said at all!??????was hard to take. It is a strange World out there these days.🫣😬😬🤔😃

My £25K would go towards a fully reconditioned Peugeot 2.5 1.6 GTi in white so I could re-live my youth from the late 1980s. And I drive small EV these days!

911 996 C4S Cabrio Manual. That’s what I got for my £25k and can’t think of anything else I would want
UK deliveries of the Spring will begin in October, with its sub-£18,000 price tag undercutting the £26,000 BYD Dolphin and the upcoming Citroën ë-C3, which will be roughly £23,000.
@jameschapman4824

By the time it's specked up it will be closer to £20 K IMHO unless of course you can live with the poverty spec. Personally I'd rather buy a 1-2 year old Zoe or Leak for around £16K
@johnnodge4327

The Spring has a very low 1☆ Euro NCAP rating, which isn't ideal. It'll be cheap, but cheaper isn't always better. The BYD Dolphin or MG4 would represent better value dispite the higher new price.
My classic car for under £25K would be a MG MGC Roadster late 1960's or an E-Type or ans Aston Martin DB-9 if that counts as classic car. Why? Well why not!

If you do not drive that much, I do not see why you would spend a lot of money on a EV?. It must be cheaper to have a bike, take a taxi when you really need a car. Pay $20k for have a car just parked, seems like a really expensive car.

@@AndrewTSq My understanding is that it's not aimed at people that don't drive a lot, it's aimed at people that do drive a lot but only ever short trips. As in people that drive 7 days a week, but rarely ever outside of their home city or town. I take your point though, if you don't drive that much it would be a big waste of money.
