If I could give my 25 year old self advice it would be to stop being a doormat and start standing up for myself. Stop people pleasing and be assertive. I just turned 40 and I’m learning how to do these things now. ❤

And once you relearn to re-be the girl you were in high school you will grow into the full woman you will be." This. I needed to hear this. I'm going to keep coming back to it every time I need motivation. Also, "We all knew who we were when we were little. We knew our power then. It was just second-guessed. Follow that instinct. Pay attention to that flame in you. Because it is REAL. Keep it fueled. And don't let anyone try to blow it out because you're going to need that." Thank you. 🌸

But she talks about outside world. When self doubt is your inner world. It's like treating disease with painkiller. We need to figure out what's behind that self doubt, mostly it's fear. Because everything in our life based on either the fear or love. Fear is ego, love is heart. Once you ask yourself why am I fearing and break it down point by point you will realise this is just your own mind games. Illusion that comes from ego. Because heart loves and accepts everything. We are wonderful as we are from the birth, because God (Source) created us like that. But system that was created by elites ( including her) in our world wants to keep humanity in control, because when you constantly reminded of self doubt and fear, you gonna think about it. Whatever your attention goes, energy flows.

I believe that there are no coincidences in life. This video wasn't one either. Michelle and Melinda's words really struck a chord with me as a soon to be 24 year old. I'm realizing how much I gave up because of self-doubt and selfish people around me, who merely looked at me as a tool to fulfill their needs and wants first, without me having the proper chance or ability to recognize my own, in the midst of emotional blackmail and over-scrutinization and judgements of my actions. I now realize, I am free and I am worthy. Alhamdulilah.

I don't know anyone who hasn't been a victim of self-doubt. Even those who grew up in supportive and encouraging environments can fall prey to self-doubt because with the encouragement and acknowledgment, comes the tacit (and sometimes overt) high expectation from your environment. And when you're constantly being depended on and viewed as responsible, capable, or whatever other positive labels were given to you, the self-doubt comes from the feeling of being able to live up to those expectations.

Now it's time for me to step in my full power and potential for me, the woman of the future generations and the one that has gone before making sacrifices and paving the way for us.

"In order to break the cycles of negativity, you got to get up every day and do the work right before you." Thank you for this wisdom Michelle O'Bama. Women's work is often denigrated, even if it is what is holding things together at a deep and subtle level. Here is an excerpt from the writings of Marshall Vian Summers about work and the value of it, not whether it is considered great or small by the world. "My mission is great. Therefore, I am free to do small things. It is only your grandiose ideas, which are a cover for fear, anxiety and despair, that you would avoid the small things that are required for you to do in the world. Again, do not confuse the greatness of your mission with the smallness of your duties. Greatness expresses itself in the smallest thing, in the tiniest action, in the most fleeting thought, in the simplest gesture and in the most mundane circumstances... Therefore, be content doing small things in the world. Be simple and humble in the world so that greatness may flow through you without obstruction." (MVS, Steps to Knowledge)

This is so inspiring for a new mama, not just young girls. You are enough and you are the best mama for your kids.
This is such a wonderful discussion. Is there a link to the full interview?
She is amazing, she broke down the simple truth!
As someone who's been struggling with this a lot in my middle 20s now too and especially as life changing decisions come up, it's also the idea that to be taken seriously, I need to hide my Feminine side and be always in the masculine/aggressive energy because of authority or male figures that have been invasive, aggressive and/or disrespectful and I have had to constantly be on alert or defend myself, because those I come across often take advantage of my more gentle side so I'm always on defense mode... like, you can not be taken seriously unless you look or act more masculine or be extra serious. Ms. Michelle's words have helped me through very dark, difficult periods and thoughts of self-doubt, seclusion, feeling misunderstood. In addition to that, Ms. Michelle herself is an inspiration and showcasing how those in important positions are human, too and have self-doubts which are, as she says pushed onto us by society on purpose.

It also makes sense. A lot of people like to shoulder everything or afraid to talk about their doubts and fears. Aftaid of being judged or showing weakness. So it is also important to surround yourself with that positivity and yes people who are there for you in times when you're in a dark space that you can’t even convince yourself because self love is limiting. I grew up not having a lot of confidence and all my self esteem was crushed by my very own mother. After moving and living with people who reassure me I started to gain the strength and confidence to see that my mothers does not define me. And that’s when I started to learn how to look at myself. So yes it is also important to seek support when you need it. Yes education is important so that you are confident for example in your career but if you have self doubt because people envy you and talk badly about you or feel isolated. That's when we always need to reinforce our mindset and surround ourselves in positivity wherever that maybe. People can still crush your spirit no matter who you are and even if you accomplished a lot. So it's important also to see yourself for you and not just based on how much money you have, education, or superficial things like beauty etc. That’s also how we can get the ahead of ourselves whether if we think we lack or we are better than others.
Anyone can have self doubt. But historically, women, who were always viewed by society in a secondary role have additional challenges that make it a daily practice to nurture awareness, self care and self love to offset the slings and arrows of the outside world. It is required to carve out that time at the end of the day. It is a practice. ✨🌞✨

No it dont you are a protected class with more rights then men you don't have to do nothing and will still get a job based on your sex and not your skill or find a simp that will take care of you. Women in America are put on a pedestal while men are treated like expendable trash

Victim hood at its finest
This is an incredibly valuable conversation. I love these women, for sharing all their experiences, and as someone who grew up in a less than perfect world, I truly believe in when Melinda gates said "you knew who you were" back in high school. It's society that tries to break women down, to become compliant.

Break the wall of impossibility. Very empowering and that we, those who are coming from a different backgrounds should be enough. We are worthy and we are of value.

Hello🥺
Good moms ( and dads!) create kids who feel good about themselves.
Thank you 🙏
I am 25 year-old and I had struggled with people pleasing most of my life after high school. If I was to give myself advice to look back on when I am 30, I would say just silent the whisper of self-doubt, and focus on what and who really matters, most importantly, there is so little youth to waste on people who are undeserving and wants us to feel powerless. Find your own people, and spend the most quality time with them. If you have not met them yet, then keep working hard until you do. And be calm, stop forcing everything and stop convincing your brain of something that isn't real. To summarise, believe in yourself, work hard, have fun and live life to its fullest!
I watched this special last night on CNN - quality TV. Michelle is another blessing from our President. Thanks, Obama!
Excellent insight from Melinda Gates - that you knew in high school the girl you were but you let something go for other people or whatever. And when you relearn to be who you were! Amazing!!!!

Hello🥺
Gosh, I was almost cry..
Keep up the great work you ladies are doing.
Having a degree of self-doubt can also be healthy in the sense that it pushes us to improve, to learn, to instrospect, to be humble and be open to the possibility that we may be wrong sometimes. I know some people who felt so confident about their abilities that they thought they could put down others or criticize them for not knowing enough. That behaviour is nauseating and without fail I later saw how wrong they were about their own capabilities and the fact that they did not have any self-doubt meant that they will stay a fool. As long as self-doubt does not stop you from doing something and you hold on to the fact that you can gather enough knowledge and skills to do anything, then it is perfectly healthy in my opinion. It should not cripple you. It should act as a fuel to learn and eventually grow. Looking back, there was lots of times I felt self-doubt, but now that I have grown, I realise with a laugh how silly those self doubt were.

Typical Indian mentality seeing confidence as ego and promoting self doubt
@MissNandita

@@amanjotsingh6351 thanks for your thought, but I think you missed the point...Also why would you associate one person's view on a subject with "Indian" mentality. Do you know for a fact that all Indians think like that? Are you saying that you know all Indians then? That's a bit self-flaterring...You also have an Indian origin name yourself...why would you put down Indians?
@amanjotsingh6351
Жыл бұрын
@@MissNandita Because most Indians indeed have that mentality where they see self esteem and self confidence as ego or pride or assume other person is full of self or thinks too much of self. They see low self esteem and no confidence as some sign of humility. No wonder they remained slaves for centuries and still get ruled and fooled by corrupt politicians. Cannot handle truth or being shown the mirror hence cry wolf and say how can you generalise or accuse other of self flattering. LOL! Knowing mentality of Indians at large makes me self flattering? 🤣 As usual when own ego is attacked then accuse others of self flattering or whatnot.
Michelle is an inspiration to all people!
