Part 1: • Michael Jai White & Vl...
--------
In this clip, Michael Jai White opened up about claims that Bruce Lee didn't have respect for American stuntmen, who he "tagged" by hitting them with his foot during fight scenes. Michael admits that he hasn't seen anyone aside from Steven Seagal really hit stuntmen on set, and Michael added that Seagal hits them "really hard." When speaking about the projects he's done with Seagal, including "Exit Wounds" and "On Deadly Ground," Michael says that Seagal never hit him during their fight scenes. To hear more, hit the above clip.

I read an interview with Steven Segal where he talked about how he would hit stunt men for real. And his justification for it was, "If they were real martial artists, they should be fast enough to not get hit." That always bugged me. As a high ranking martial artist (fifth or sixth degree black belt in aikido at the time), it's actually HIS responsibility to control his moves so he doesn't hurt the people he's working with.

Although he read the initial comment incorrectly, to get upset or question the person making reference in regards to the statement, as a high ranking martial artist, in a disdainful manner shows that there may be lingering issues as it pertains to people of any type of status, authority or ranking. He's probably the type of person to do the opposite of what is requested of him to prove that he can't be controlled and told what to do. I could be wrong.

I hung out with Michael Jai White while a guest of Producer Anthony Santa Croce on the movie set of 'Mutiny,' directed by Kevin Hooks. Mr. White Was an amazingly cool guy. We spoke about Japanese Samauri movies, training, and Martial Arts. Unlike many stars who only see themselves, we had a genuine down to earth talk, akin to two guys with a beer and a plate of Mama's ribs. He is genuine to the core.
