Metallica Sold out

Yes sir they did. Death Magnetic might be the return us old school fans have been waiting for. Only time will tell. Selloutica fan boys need to accept the fact. Lu Lu can suck a dick.

Right on brother....I saw them open for Ozzy in 86' with Cliff burton, Yes....Justice was the peak....saw that tour 3 times, the black album has some good on it.....but it went to shit after that.

Metallica?? More like “Lady Metalli-GaGa”. They hit an all time low with collaboration with pop singers now. The Black album had some good tunes and that is where it ended. They put out Load, Reload, Garage Inc and St Anger and there is no coming back from that. They are just a traveling circus now.. charging insane prices for tickets. Why would anyone want to see these sellouts today is incomprehensible.

I agree with you 100%. The biggest tell that they indeed sold out was them pathetically developing a "look". I don't know how anyone can argue with that, it was there for everyone to see. They cut their hair and were wearing suspenders and eye liner for fucks sake! James was reluctant and went with a mullet for awhile but eventually gave in. Equally obvious was their attempt to stay relevant by catering to MTV. It was so cringe worthy to see them sitting there with fake smiles, wearing blazers, bobbing their heads while freaking Avril Lavigne performed their song. It was beyond sad. Thank you for saying what we were all thinking.

Stating the obvious really. I saw them out here in Australia on the Soundwave tour on 2013 and it was a pure classics set. I do agree that Jame's voice is fucked, but so is Tom Araya's... the curse of the ageing metal vocalist.

I agree but my list would be from best to worst puppets, justice, kill em all, lightning, then black. I really never have bothered to listen to anything after that. If they could could just make one more album going back to the 80s sound, so many fans would appreciate it. The voice shift is the biggest problem.

Master of Puppets is my favorite Metallica album period. Call me what you want but I liked some of the post Black Album stuff. That being said, was it the best time for Metallica music? No way. St. Anger meh. Death Magnetic was ok.

I'm not sure you know what "selling out" is. They got tired of playing 9 minute overcomplicated songs and decided to write simpler ones. It was still heavy as fuck. They also wanted it to sound sonically as good as possible. That's not selling out. If they wanted to keep playing progressive thrash but their record company wanted them to make more radio friendly music and the did so begrudgingly, then you could say they sold out. But by all accounts, that didn't happen. As far as Load goes, as much as I hated that album, that was just a stylistic change that they wanted to make. They evolved. They did what they wanted to do without caring what people would think, knowing they would alienate fans. That's not selling out.

They did exactly what the people wanted. Hence why the majority of their fans aren't actually metal fans. They betrayed their original sound to make music for the majority. That's selling out. And it doesn't sound heavy or good in the slightest. And its not what they wanted, it's what the majority wanted. The crowd wanted metal for non metalheads, so James handed them what they wanted, in exchange for global fame and golden hits. Please. 🤣

@@RainbowGothQueen 😂😂😂 Bro don't embarrass yourself. Sad But True is arguably the heaviest song they've ever written. Try to familiarize yourself with the concept of heavy first before chiming in. Also learn what selling out is. They didn't "betray" their original sound. That doesn't even make sense. They decided after Justice that they were tired of writing and playing 9 minute overcomplicated songs. Shortening your songs and simplifying them doesn't equal selling out. Especially when you still write very good metal songs that are still heavy. And they definitely didn't do what people wanted whatsoever. They did what they wanted. If their fan base wants fast thrash and all their peers are playing fast thrash, and they make the Black Album, that completely goes against this retarded idea you have that they did what other people wanted. Another thing is you can't just decide you're going to make a platinum selling album. You actually have to write really good songs, which they did. The fact that you have crappy ears doesn't change that. "It doesn't sound heavy or good in the slightest" - yeah, I'm lost 🙄

Exactly how is that a win? Everyone knows who they are bro. Everyone. They'll never get a moment of peace for the rest of their lives. They'll try to hide their addresses, but paparazzis will be at their driveways snapping illegal photos. Everywhere they go, they'll have fans rushing them after a photo or autograph. They'll never have a single moment of peace, solitude or relaxation again. Yeah, so totally such win.. I doubt it. After hearing what Eminem says about how much fame sucks, I think that I'll stick to the passion and music, rather than fame and fake money. All that money won't help him at all in a "shtf' situation. The economy is going to crash in the next few years and that stack of green bills will be nothing more than paper to burn to keep warm. Yeah, I think I'll stick to my lifestyle. No thanks. 🤣
