Just a reminder.. my TinyFatty wheel/tire setup is the same height (circumference) as a stock Metropolitan.. I lost 7mph changing from the stock Ruck tire. I'm hoping to equal out the tire size with the gears. And gain the 7mph back. AGAIN.. DO NOT run met gears unless you're going 50mph at 10,000 RPM or so. You WILL lose acceleration drastically. But if you have long flats, and wanna bring the Rpm down, and maybe gain a couple mph on the top.. that's what these gears can do. Make sure it's a met from 09 or before... Also the met 2 and other restricted Mets have ruck gears in them.. count the teeth carefully!

All my buddies laughed at me when I did the same exact gear swap. Badass GET brother.

Gear oil is some nasty stuff...can this be done with the motor still in the bike?

HEY MAN!! Sorry I missed this. I think it could be done on the bike, but actually might be harder. It was super helpful to “drop” the gears in, instead of slide them in. It’s possible the gears would try to fall out as you mated the two sides as well.. you might need to lean the bike over to the left while you do it. However.. if you put gears in a separate swingarm, like I did, you HAVE to remove the engine cause the engine mount is on the swingarm.

Im thinking about doing the reverse of this putting ruckus gears in my gfs metropolitan for more torque and to try and get it to conform to moped laws so she doesnt need an endorsement. Do you know what gearing the metropolitan II ran? I dont want to make the top speed less than 30mph, so if the gearing is better i could go with that.

16driver16 The met ii was EXACTLY that.. Ruck gears. Its also had s few more limiting parts, some confirmed some seem to be only rumors. 72 mainjet, restricted washer/gasket on the manifold and/or exhaust, washer on the variator. Is the bike gonna be tested, or are you possibly gonna GET roadside tested by the police?? I honestly think cvt variator weights tuned properly would give you great acceleration, but cause you to hit the rev limiter earlier. It would be a easier and better solution IMO. What year is the Met?

@@GETlife its a 2009, im probably just being paranoid about my gf getting pulled over, but i suppose if its not breaking the speed limit why would she get pulled over? We ride the backroads and logging roads all around where i live, we live very close to a state forest. I think the lower gearing would help with the hills too, as logging road can get pretty steep

@@GETlife oh forgot to say no testing in my area. I would probably try to change up the variator and weights as well as do the ruckus gears and have a really strong 30mph scoot, i would even consider an intake but she would not like an exhaust
