****DON'T FORGET TO LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, & CLICK THE BELL FOR MORE WEEKLY CAR RANT CONTENT!****
This week, we compare the Metro's native gear set to our Ruckus gear set. We go through the whole process of comparing notes of speed over a given distance, and go through the process of converting over to the Ruckus gear set to compare the difference.
Spoiler Alert: We like the Ruckus gears far more.

This was a super cool video. Thank you for documenting and sharing it with the world.. I like all the insights at the end about the advantages of the rRuckus rear end on the Metropolitan. God-bless you both and keep you safe. Thank you from Irvine California. Edward

Did you do anything with the variator first cause it looks stock, like I would put 3 g roller weights before a gear change because that will bring the power in earlier also and then you still have top end

Is the clutch assembly the same?

Yes. The only difference is the gear set and swing arm (to clear bigger tires)

@CarRant Both have a CVT so there is no clutch.

Why do have to change the swing arm?

To fit bigger wheels! The Metro arm is too short to fit anything bigger or wider.

If you're only getting 22 mph out of the Metropolitan, there's something wrong.

We didn't. In that short of a space, that's all it could muster, demonstrating the difference in the gearing between the two transmissions. The fastest this metro got was 50mph. Inversely the met started on hitting 45mph with the ruckus gear set, but got there much faster.

But you still have a stock variator, right. Because I can tell you for a fact, that’s a Stock Honda OEM variator. I’m assuming you did something like 3-5gram variator rollers and switched the secondary to the 2000rpm launch spring(stock is 3,000 activation spring). Because I don’t believe you were able to top out on that at 50 you’re a big guy like me, i’d love to know everything you did to it to get it going that fast

@@zackgovoski6830 the variator cover may be stock, but nothing else is internally. Completely different variation of weights and sliders. The clutch springs were replaced for ones that allow for higher speeds. We also had a super lean carb tune that really didn't fuel it right until higher rpms and speeds. The avg it made on a nice big stretch of highway recently was 45 with a peak at 48 (prior to my wreck - a different video for another time) Like I said, prior to the change of transmission, it was all set up for tall gears and being fast but not quick. So we needed a good 2 miles of open space to really get it up there. Plus an NCY overrevv CDI. That was the biggest key.

That thing is way louder than it should be.

It had a sport exhaust for higher flow to get more speed out of the tiny 50cc. This isn't a stock moped/scooter
