You explain things extremely well and clearly. I replaced my “Bleeder” on my 2008 S320 cdi two years ago as it was the a cause (the other being poor fitting orange seal) of oil leaking onto the connectors for the intake valve motor which also needed to be replaced. It is very important this “bleeder”, aka PCV valve is functioning on the OM 642 engine. Keep up the excellent presentations.

That part right there is THE main cause of engine oil finding it's way into valley, turbo pedestal, swirl flap motor, & back of oil cooler imho. It's OEM design is completely inadequate for OM642's needs when it comes to reclaiming oil vapor. In fact, I would dare to say many oil cooler jobs that require so much work to change out rubber seals for viton could have been avoided completely if true source of oil in valley was properly identified initially. One of the very best modifications to consider installing is an oil catch can circuit between that CCV (continuous crank ventilation) valve where it comes off back of passenger side valve cover & where it plumbs into turbo fresh air intake nozzle. I'd cut that CCV valve hose right in it's center & splice in an approximately 6' of same diameter tubing capable of handling hot oil & oil vapor. Approximately 3' of tubing is needed to splice into input opening on catch can & another 3' for output flange from catch can to get back to turbo inlet. Pack catch can with stainless steel scrubber pads so that oil vapor pushes through it & can then cool & recoalesce inside catch can instead of turbo inlet where CCV alone would normally return it to recoalesce. Oil that gets into turbo inlet then travels down into intercooler & finds it's way onto swirl flaps inside intake but if turbo flange seal is leaking, oil vapor introduced to fresh air from turbo intake will drip down onto swirl flap motor & cascade down from there onto turbo pedestal & back of oil cooler in valley. Before long, it will appear that oil cooler is leak source when in fact it came from above.

Thanks , great video. My PCV seems ok , but I am thinking of changing or cleaning it. I may change orange seals also.

Lots of people think their oil cooler seals are blown when oil goes everywhere at the bottom but it's just too much crank case pressure due to a faulty PCV valv. Much easier and cheaper to replace first before oil cooler seals.

Thanks for the video. Can this cause the following symptom: leak detected in intake system. I’ve done a smoke test but there are no external leaks. I did find a lot of oil in the turbo pipes although the turbo was replaced recently, so I don’t think the oil is coming from the turbo but looks like it’s coming from the breather correct? Thanks again great video

Hi can you fit an oil catch can then let the gasses vent to air and blank the hole by the turbo. Would this make the engine run better

would this possibly be the cause of an engine RPM fluctuation (up and down) beginning at around 2000 RPM and very constant?

change it anyway. it will fail. do preventive maintenance. Oil blowing around ruined my serpentine belt. I smelled burning rubber. then the red battery light came on. then the car temp went high. The belt is nothing but strings now. 169K miles.
