    This has to be oldest pure sport originating in ancient warfare. Beautiful technique. Looks so cool when they wind and after throw end up on ground at terminal end of throw. Yt javelin thrower is bloody amazing. Amazing African athletes take top medals in javelin. I never expected that and love the unexpected. Congratulations, Africa and KZread.

    You have to appreciate what it took for this man to get where he is/was. A world champ from a country that has much less facilities for his chosen event than the average sporting facilities at a small school in Mobile Texas. Quite phenomenal.

    Don't you think that people back in ancient times would've been well versed with spears? O.o I mean... They did train with them like a marine drill team trains with their rifles. Not to mention that these are hollow javelins.

How to train them (exercises, equipment & better technique), supplementation, better technique to recover (oxygen chamber, cryotherapy) and probably more.     Personally, I think it would be very cool to have speed of projectile on leaving the hand and estimated trajectory in real time. Something similar to what they do in the MLB for pitch speed. I like numbers and stats like that, so I think that would be a super cool way to add another level to the viewing experience.

    They could maybe do launch angle and arm speed but the speed of the javelin doesn't always correlate, my furthest throws were always slower cuz a slight head wind that would create lift

    True, that would be spectacular. Also a better camera view, for example a static side view of the javelin distance flown from a middle of the stadium. The precise close up side view of javelin doesnt show the full glory of the actual distance the thing fly. Also better camera view on the technique of each athlete would be really nice.

    Agreed. I don't know why they don't show the javelin trajectory as a wide field shot. This is one of the most if not the most impressive event to watch in person because of the sheer scale of the throw. TV footage doesn't do justice to how amazing it is to see the javelin crossing the entire stadium.

    Neeraj couldn't qualify for that olympic because of schedule glitch. But he made a throw better than gold medalist in same year.

    I get that you're proud of him, so am I. But yego's throw here was 92.72 which is about 3-4 meters ahead of Neeraj's current all time best.

    Skip word potential. Javelin is a classic ancient sport. I love it and all track track and field Olympic sports. All of these sports have ancient tradition and will always be timeless.
