I grew up in Doveton and Dandenong - went to Dandy High in the 90's... I used to walk home from Dandy station home to Doveton at night, as a young teenager - I learnt to be stealth! I came from shit home life - both parents always in trouble with the cops, in and out of jail for my mum... but I kept to myself, head down, and worked my arse off to get out of the cycle of poverty, and I did but it took hard work to prove I was not a product of my environment. Growing up in these suburbs teaches you to be resilient and you never forget where you come from, and pushes you to work harder to ensure you never return. Thank you Spanian and hopefully you can help those realise Crime is never the answer!

So true mate I also hung around slums of doveton . And many guys ended up in either jail or died from drug overdoses . But so many also became very successful business people and hard workers that went in to have amazing lives. But I don’t see this generation having as many people leading good lives in the future or becoming good citizens or role models to their own kids .

You find in the hoods some of the best people on the planet. They’ve lived a hard life and went through so much in their lives that they are respectful and don’t judge people on face value but look for trouble and you can find it very easily. I’ll always have fond memories of Dandy. Being so multicultural, kind and funny people , shout out Dandy Primary School and Dandy High, the market, the weirdos and the bums outside the plaza, the hidden food spots, etc etc Dandy has character (bad and good), Dandenong represent 😆🙌🏾

I also currently live in one of the bording houses in this video too. Not the one shown but the same owner and I have friends at that one. But ya dead right. Bunch of people legit banding together through rough times. Most of the people not on Ice are solid. And nearly all of the weed smokers are chill. Even that guy who asked for a light. He's a character. He was born in the south of America during Segregation. Like Lousisiana/New Orleans He is disabled and lives at an assisted living place on the street they walked down. He actually smokes weed like a MFer and everytime he sees me asks if I got some. I occasionally roll a joint and chill with him. He's a super nice guy. His name is Flowers lol He's seen a whole other world to us man. He talk about Dandenong like its paradise compared to where he come from.

It's like that in most former places like Dandenong. Nothing comes close to the 1980's & 90's, everywhere it was pumping. Plenty work of all sorts, earning was easier, lots of cash everywhere as everything was cash based, les coppers, less technology, no camera's & CCTV everywhere, less alarms & security, less restrictive laws, people punched on instead of stab or shoot, there was still a criminal code of ethics that every crim learnt first & then lived by. Crews stuck solid & could trust each other, & had each other's back without saying. There was no crack or bupe back then , that makes shells of former good men like today. It was a different time & completely different men back then. Now the ice & bupe epidemic & it's mental health partner have pervaded all aspects of community, society, humanity & life. Now it seems that everywhere you look we are dealing with & nursing some spinner in psychosis or a crackhead who think's he's God or some devil, a good earn today is sneako - ing an old lady & snatching her handbag or Peter thieving from your best mate, or back door him😳. Or bashing your missus or mother, these crimes are sweet today, & even a putrid teller or scotcher is ok if he's whacking up!!. Still in the 70's, 80's & 90's that sort of shit did not fly , the shit men were found out quickly & the rest left were all good solid men, most of the time!. A gangster was a gentleman, not a crack head or hard talking face tattooed 40 kg skeleton who walks with a bigger bridge than Sydney Harbour bridge & tells the whole world how he has killed a hundred people & bashed everyone from Mike Tyson to every champion in every field , he has got them all😂. That's today, compared to the 80's & 90's, different world & different people!!. Them two decades were definitely the last of the Mohicans, shout out to all the boys who run in the 80's & 90's👍❤️.

So much gold just in that area between the station and the market. You walked up from the station through little India, but missed little Afghanistan. I grew up in a single -parent migrant family in a block of Housing Commision units in the Western Suburbs of Sydney (Ashcroft). I now live in a beautiful home in a beachside suburb and I'm a teacher at an alternative School. Education and hard work is your key out , encourage your kids to stay in school and live a better life.

I grew up in the early 90s in Doveton on Kidds road right down the road from the Holy Family Parish. Went to primary school in the area and walked to school every day. It was pretty hectic back then with the amount of drug addicts and fights but we moved out of the area before I was old enough to get into the lifestyle. Kinda glad to be out!

First time ever on this channel, am so lost bc I’ve never seen this type of scene before, but am so completely fascinated by what’s going around. I’m trying to catch what people are saying, while watching cars and bikes burn out and I can’t keep up with it. This is gonna take some getting used to but I’m definitely coming back to watch more!!

That's a bit bias. He's filmed and reviewed heaps better suburbs in other places. It was good. Cos they all are, but it could have been heaps more thorough. Think he needed better tour guides tbh

You can buy an opal card here in Sydney and it does make your fair a little cheaper, there’s diffrent colours for like pensioners and stuff which it wouldn’t give them the discount through their bank card. But I do love that if you’ve lost your opal card or you don’t travel public much and you just need to jump over one stop or something you can just tap your bank card. For me to do about 3 hours travel from Fairfield station to regents park each day (both ways) it would cost me about $10 in fairs
