Melanoma and Veterans Disability | All You Need To Know

In this video, Leah explains the relationship between melanoma and VA disability. She discusses melanoma as a type of skin cancer often found in veterans, which can manifest during or years after active duty due to exposure to ultraviolet light. The recent Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act classifies melanoma among the presumptive conditions for veterans exposed to environmental toxins during service, particularly in Gulf War areas. Several studies have shown higher skin cancer rates, including melanoma, among military personnel compared to the general population, particularly those who served in equatorial or sunny climates.

I am the daughter of a Vietnam Vet that passed away and have been fighting a VA DIC claim for over 2 years. I have been looking at samples of Dr's Statements that have been approved after proving disability. I am now helping get all my med records and info together for my Dr to write a letter on my behalf. I became disabled when I was 17 in a car accident many severe injuries. They have left me permanently incapable of self support my whole adult life. The SSA has given me benenits already due to some of it. I have proof beyond proof from Duke Hospital. I just want to get this letter right so I can be approved. They approved me (the VA) and decided they wanted more evidence! I wish I could snap my fingers and this stress was over!! My father was 100% disabled before his death and died to many health complications from Agent Orange.

Yes I had it twice the first time in Situ. If you are covered under the Pact Act. It will be rated 0% for the melanoma and then rated separate for the length of the scar. Hope this helps
