the Alaska's 12" guns were about equal to the larger 14" guns found on the New Mexico and other old american battleships. That means that the Alaska is like a New Mexico with almost half the reload and cruiser accuracy. That matched with the 32mm bow makes this ship incredibly good.

Almost.......Alaska and Guam (My grandfather served on CB2) 12" 50 MK 8 guns were brand new and the most expensive at the time, they fired a super heavy shell that "Matched" in capabilities to the 14" guns on the Wyoming and simliar older BB's (Generation Behind).

Same guns as the Vanguard

For those wondering what other ships belonged to Alaska class, are Guam and Hawaii are the other 2 that were built with Puerto Rico, Samoa, and Philippines were slated to be laid down in the late 50s but the project was scrapped

Just got my Alaska today a few hours ago. As a Balti enthusiast, my very first match in this ship i had 4 ships destroyed and 171k damage with 8 cities. Man what a great ship this is. My first salvo was against a yammy, and i hit it for 19k on my first salvo. This ships ap is no joke.

Nice job Spartan, that firepower is amazing plus with that quick reload. Serious damage output! 👍

Alaska is my favorite ship glad they finally added it. Spartan punch every ship in the mouth u see and keep up the amazing videos

Past the halfway pt for both Alaska and california, can't wait. Your videos have helped produce some epic games for me. Had a record 12 or 14 citadel hits out of a crusier...😀

Nice spartan! congrats on Alaska. While I am not grinding the alaska, I am patiently waiting for a secondary buff for geman bbs and I will build a meme out of my Bismarck and my future GK (ill do it regardless of buff or not, time to brawl!)

Good thing I decided to instantly start researching this ship. I am still only on segment 1 and the third slot

I am loving the Wichita - I think I am going to love this ship too - the play styles seem almost identical.

The Alaska had double displacement that the Baltimore had and possessed the same sized guns as the Wyoming class, but was heaver than the Wyoming.

I finally got the Alaska yesterday 🙌! It looks amazing. First legendary ship haha and more to come!!

I'm relatively close to getting this! I hope her sister ship Guam will be a campaign ship. If i'm not mistaking. She also utilizes super-heavy shells. I'm contemplating on either GK or Yamato next.

Posted a battle in my amagi. Almost stock. Love that ship and with the range slot it will be a monster. You can see where I had 2 perfect shots on iowas if only I had the range mod open. Finished around mid ranking which is good for a stock ship and lvl11 cpt

Mid ranking is not good, regardless of how upgraded your ship is. Maybe if you are bottom tier, in a stock ship, then it’s an alright result

Fast gun slingers. Baltimore was my first tier 7 ship.

I have the Alaska on PC, and she's a beast. I think that they've put a leash on her for console, but I'm not sure. It will be a very long time before I get her here.

I’m on segment 8 of 12 for Grober Kurfürst. Starting to run into issues getting the commanders to high enough level and having all the needed ships to boost progress.

That was me too.... I ran out of promotion orders for last 2 segments

In about 10 days from now, my research will be completed for this ship 🙌. And in about 25 days I will have the Yamato completed!!! Can't wait to take those ships out whoop whoop haha

I wish they would've added the classes nickname of being called Pocket battleships

Glad to know the Alaska is worth it

Each of the legendary ships is a dream for players if they can play it right

I'm a bit stuck the armor bureau part I just need to level my few german commanders, the best thing I have going in another project is getting a duplicate american commander.

I have GK and for the ppl thinking it’s some crazy tank think again it suffers the same thing that the Bismarck and the Tirpitz, it takes constant 11k salvos from battleships, whole bow on and angled and if you’re showing side to get those back guns into the fight, we’ll I had Iowa’s smacking me for almost 30k each time and if I tried to angle against him think again he’ll just do 10k + so it needs to be fix as usual with German bbs

Spartan Elite43 the HP drains so fast because you just take full damage from everything, I will say the guns are amazing it’s the only thing they got right about the ship but the turrents break so easy it’s frustrating

Looks like a sharnhorst with no torps add radar/sonar and better accuracy

I’m close to the grosser kurfurst......but now I want the Alaska!

I don’t know if you know this Spartan but on the side of Iowa and Alaska plane there is a ship name on it which reads USS Montana

Spartan if u enjoy cruiser accuracy and battleship caliber guns then u would love the Georgia

He don’t even realize when he was talking out his commander he said fully loaded instead of fully packet

I'd say it is the best legendary ship in game!

Speaking of economy, the Arizona is CASH COW. I was in it last night and had an Iron Duke and an Izmail stay broadside to me after I kept hitting them. Racked up 90k in 4 min and made 380k credits and STILL LOST (teammates😒)

My controller broke and it'll be a bit before the new one comes... I was on stage 7 for Alaska... R.I.P.

I'm close to it too Mmmm, I was just disappointed the GK with you was only running the 16inch guns lol I wanted to here the big boom haha

Yoo spartan, quick tip or idea whatever u want to call it... U wouldn't need isoroku since u already have amazing penetration (for a cruiser) its like putting jaujard on the yamato lol. However u can make the argument that u want it to better pen bbs which it can... So think u should try other builds and figure out what you like

I dont recommend it. I used an Iowa and I kept slamming the yamatos citadel because its a large area and its easy to destroy.

Faced a yamato yesterday and I so wasn't expecting it until it killed my Tirpitz in 5 minutes from across the map (yes I was not broad side)

That's actually amazing a competent player you faced. Ive seen 5 Yamato's and all they do is shoot HE and do almost no damage and get destroyed quick. Strange people did the same during the game test of the ship last year.

You're the only guy I know that doesn't rage when someone steal your kill

Lol yes I do..... I rage at everything If you see my streams I spend half the stream swearing and the other half giggling

Looks like we're gonna get a lot of whiny tier 7 BB drivers if this is any indication of what to expect... I'm glad I'm gonna finish the Alaska first. The GK secundaries are nerfed in xbox/ps4 version, the range is 5 km, compared to 10 km pc version, but still good because he cant be overmatched for Yama in most of the ranges

Confusing, I have Norman Scott at lvl 12. With ap broadside on another cruiser, doesn't even dent it. I would choose the Baltimore over this any day. Am I missing something?

She and her sister were basically America’s only battlecruisers (at least the only one’s completed), though never considered a capital ship and officially called a large cruiser. It’s a shame they scrapped both of them. Alaska would have been a great and unique museum ship.

They were not Battle Cruisers, they do not fit the definition. They were not built on battleship hulls but an enlarged Baltimore class hull. They did not have Battleship caliber guns, the last time the USN had 12 inch guns was the main armament for a Battleship was 1912 in the Wyoming class.

It didn’t matter that they didn’t have the armaments of the latest battleships, or the fact that they were enlarged Baltimores, or even the fact that they were not considered Capital Ships. “Large Cruisers” were just Battlecruisers of with a different name, fulfilling similar roles, using their superior firepower to take out ships smaller than them while using their speed to evade ships with heavier guns and armor.

Bought the backing at tier 81. Hopefully im not gone next week
