McLaren 720s Post Track Detail | Rubber And Bug Removal

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This McLaren 720S had a track day at Autobahn and Road America resulting in a tremendous amount of bugs and rubber all over! We go in depth on the safest way to remove rubber from wheels and paint. We also talk about how to safely remove bugs from the paint. This 720S has clear bra or paint protection film (PPF) but no ceramic coating. This makes the removal process different and more complex as a ceramic coating would make removal effortless. A surprise tribute is at the very end of the video for diehard mcLaren fans.

Love this. I track my 720 a lot and am familiar with all these detailing challenges. Learned some new tricks by watching.

Good job Evan, to make it easier to work with the mosquitoes you have some products to soften them up and make it easier for them to come out with the pressurized water lance. 👇👇👇👇 ADBL-bettle juice squeezer. ULTRACOAT-buggy boy. Kock Chemie- dirt remover. Auto Glanz-Bug off. Car Pro-Trix.

This is a older video. But statusdetailstore.com has everything you'd need to handle your wash. Especially bugs 🙂👍

Dude you are lucky, the only cars I detail are classics and it’s sooo annoying for the prep. Not gonna lie I am jealous, but keep up the good work I enjoy watching your process on modern paint/cars and the difference between mine on the classics. :)

Can you please provide the name of the polish you are using at 22:01? I didn't understood from the audio of the video. Thanks

I am pretty sure I used rupes polish back then as this a old video. That specific product is actually been discontinued. If you go on statusdetailstore.com under paint correction you will find my favorite polish and compounds. The new gen rupes is available but I actually like carpro reflect and ultracut better currently.

@@STATUSDETAIL for a DIY guy do you have any recommandation of a polish which may work by hand and is not that abrazive? Thanks and really appreciate for answering and for the posted videos.

@@skyb0yTube reflect is definitely less abrasive as it's a polish but to be honest literally any compound or polish can be worked by hand and when work by hand will also be pretty low abrasive If you're trying to paint correct a car by hand that's going to drive you a little crazy in my opinion I would look into the griots garage polisher that we sell that's like $150 use it on a low setting with reflect or ultra cut cut depending on the kind of car you have if you tell me the kind of car you have I can probably steer you in the right direction If you're trying to stop polish or remove something small then you probably just want something like ultra cut and work it by hand and you'll get great results But like I said you definitely don't want to try and hand correct an entire car That's not something I would ever recommend anyone try

So, are you recommending PPF for track cars?

  • @STATUSDETAIL

I have two videos on PPF currently One is the yellow Urus And one I just released. You can watch those and get a lot of information but in general if you are going to track a car often then sure PPF full fronts definitely valuable. If it's an all out track car that only sees track time the PPF is going to get so destroyed but it's hard to say it'll give value because you'll have to replace it so routinely so that gets kind of in your hands only like only you can answer that question. But if you have a car that you're going to track a couple weekends a year and you think you might sell it in 3 years then I would say there's a strong argument that you'll get good value and when you sell it there is a good chance at the car won't be worth more because that's not how the stuff works but it would definitely be worth what the proper market value is because the front's not going to be wildly trashed

@@jennypenny7243 sounds like ppf would benefit your situation. That sounds like a lot of track time. If you drive with friends a lot who have sticky tires that throw rocks then I'd push even harder into the your going to see value side It's crucial to understand that ppf is sacrificial. It's only job is to get hit with rocks then peel off for a fresh new piece when it's to ugly. So for that long of a ownership you are likely replacing a section or two at least once. Meaning added cost. A lot of people think ppf is bulletproof bubble of protection and get upset when it's $300 to remove a section or two. And $900 to install again on top of the original$2400 full front. So understanding your game plan with your ppf is really important to see the best value for your situation

@@STATUSDETAIL Thanks for your feedback. I also think, that with PPF, the car can look cleaner for longer? Perhaps less peppered with stone chips? Yea, the more I drive, the more the ppf looks bad.

@@jennypenny7243 yes ppf is going to help reduce the peppered look but that still does happen to ppf. It will help tho. But overall with that long of ownership you'd likely want to replace it at least once
