Proving that in the 80s, it was a requirement to be a professional dancer to work at McDonalds. It's the only way to clean.

My first job ever was working at McDonald's and this was no joke. I must have seen this video at least 50 times in my days as a crew trainer. I'm so glad to see its here and being shared with the world. It's a pretty great video, right?

We found an old VHS of "Clean it", way back when I was working at McDonald's. I swear to god, we were pissing ourselves laughing!

I love how every equipment in the store looks as though it's never been used.

Magic32Jackson Well to be fair, back then, McDonalds didn't have the stigma of health laws like it does today. They weren't required to provide nutritional facts, like calorie counts. There wasn't the "yoga mats used in their meats" controversy. Nothing about what that purple/pink crap they use is made out of. No issues with carbonated beverages, either. Everyone just ate/drank whatever the hell they wanted, and McDonalds was booming from it. With McDonald's deep pockets, I could see Michael Jackson starring in this if it was a COMMERCIAL, but McDonalds isn't going to put that kind of money into an instructional video.

Michael was a life long vegetarian, he would have never done a promotion for McDonalds solely due to the fact that it served meat. He was willing to do pepsi Ads despite never drinking Pepsi, but that was only because they sponsored his world tours

Probably because we've collectively grown disenchanted by the idea that pride in your work and in your company will ever amount to anything more than being another underpaid, replaceable employee. Producing a video like this now would likely be received as mockery rather than celebration. Corporate knows this and it's cheaper not to produce such content instead of paying their employees a livable wage and improving workplace conditions and giving their workers a sense of possibility in an otherwise dead-end job 🤷🏻

I had to watch this as part of a training video when i started my first job at McDonald's back in the early 90's.

A little birdie told me Marty O’Donnell was the one that made this little gem. It seems our favorite HALO composer can’t do anything but release straight Bangerz.

Hey, we just cleaned this counter, let's put our ass on it to get over to the other side and do some Michael moves!

I love how not-Michael-Jackson is sitting there the whole time not cleaning (or moving from one spot, apparently)

for the 50th anniversary of macdonads in Australia this song played on repeat for a week straight in my store it was torture

I've literally never seen that many employees on a single shift at any McDonald's ive ever been to.

Got to say, some of these girls in 80s McDonald's uniforms worked for me.

Back in 1989 I worked a total of 3 shifts at a McDonald's before realizing I just wasn't into it. Maybe if I'd stayed longer I might've gotten to see this glorious Tim & Eric-esque fever dream.

This is the most 80’s thing I’ve ever seen.

This makes me miss how their dining areas had adequate seating and were more inviting, when I was a kid.

Remember, "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean..." ;)

I used to get dirty looks from managers when I reversed the comment. I had time to clean so I figured I had time lean. Just cause something rhymes doesn't make it a good saying.

Me washing dishes next week: "Just cleeean it clean it!!!" Roommate: "What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Today you would have to sift through 569 McDonalds to find that many trim, lithe young folks to staff the commercial.

@@samfeldstein4498 At the end of this video, there's a copyright year of 1984. Weird Al's "Eat It" was released on February 28, 1984, though Al's song was actually recorded in December of '83. I don't know the date "Clean It" would've been recorded or when this video would've started being shown to McDonald's employees, so it's hard to say which parody came out first.
