    When they're describing horse drama? That's exactly what it's like. Horses date + won't go anywhere without their current partner (even if they've been desexed),) have besties that they like to ride next to + get possessive over (bite other horses that get too close), and get one sided crushes they throw tantrums over if their rider doesn't indulge them in a trot next to an uninterested (and often already taken) horsey

    okay not to be that person but i looked up the average horse weight which is 840-2,200 pounds, to make math easier i chose the median (1,520). now there are varying horse trailer weighs depending on material and amount of horse it carries, a 24' gooseneck trailer which carries 6 horses weighs 4,400 lbs. added each horses weight (multiplied by 6) equals up to 13,520. as justin says at approximately 4:23, the average horse can carry only 8,000 pounds but 2 horses together can carry 24,000 pounds. therefore, 2 stock horses can carry a horse trailer full of 6 average horses easily. tldr; 6 horse trailer w/horses inside only weighs 13,520 pounds, which is only around 1/2 of the weight a horse can pull up to. edit: typos

  • @sorio99

    @sorio99

    Okay, but this isn’t any less buckwild. If we use that “partners” figure of 32,000 pounds, then that means two stock horses who are solid partners can easily pull a completely full horse trailer without expending even half of their potential. What?! You could connect two trailers together, and if those horses were tight as fuck, they could just be like “oh yeah, sure we can handle that”. WHAT?!

  • @GucciGoosing

    @GucciGoosing

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@sorio99 I worked on a ranch with draft horses (they were extremely good friends/brothers) and a pair would comfortably pull trailers with six cows in them (although it's not something that would happen often). These cows are a lot heavier than an average riding horse, so I buy that a pair of draft horses could pull 12 average American riding type horses. But keep in mind that Draft Horses are way bigger and heavier than the riding style horses you are probably imagining. So the numbers would change if you wanted to talk about them pulling their peers. First you'd need different trailers usually -I'm not sure how many extra horses that would count as, but for this type of math I'd say each Draft Horse probably weighs about 2 of the horses most people would be imagining.

    4640lbs. I realize it is not a direct 1-1 parallel, walking to pushing, but a horse carries 58% of its weight on its front legs. So, assuming its only going to use 2 legs, and the fore-legs count as the "arms..." 4640lbs.

    So we have determined that two horses who are friends can pull 8000 pounds more weight. The average speed of a horse-drawn carriage is about 8-10 MPH. In physics, Power is determined by Force times Velocity (which is just speed plus a direction). Plugging these numbers into a kinetic energy calculator, we can determine that this produces 23205 to 36259 Joules of energy. Sources say that a horse can be comfortable traveling for about 8 hours at a time, and Power is equal to energy over time. Plugging these number into a Power calculator reveals that in scientific terms, the Power of Friendship is about 0.806 to 1.259 Watts

    but wait, the boys calculation is wrong (of course). they need to overcome friction, which is what the wheels do by creating static friction instead of sliding friction. but the horses arent pulling the trailer horses purely upwards, in the opposite direction of their weight. theyre moving them sideways, and as such the force required to move the trailer will be less than the total weight of the trailer and the horses

    Ok i hate to put the boys down but cars' capacity far outranks that of horses Some new models of dodge rams can pull up to 33,000lbs. Thats 1000 over what 2 horses with a friendship multiplier can pull. Two horses that only just met can pull 1.5x their typical capacity each (24,000÷16,000=1.5). If two cars received this same bonus, they could haul 99,000 pounds of weight, equal to over 60 horses. But what if those cars were friends? If two cars knew each other well, then they would receive, similar to the horses, a 2x multiplier (32,000÷16,000=2). This would allow 2 car lovers to pull 132,000lbs. Thats 412.5% of what 2 horses could pull, equal to the weight of 82 and a half horses. Point in case if two horses could pull the galaxy then two dodge rams could pull the universe.

    A heavy work horse requires 138,072 Kilojoules a day. (33000 calories) A single gallon (Ew. Imperial.) of gas contains 131,760 Kilojoules. The average American fuel efficency is about 25mpg. Which means; It will take your car (And this is an AVERAGE car, not a work truck) about a half hour at the speed limit to use the entirety of a horses daily consumption. Also, cars arent living things. 2 cars wont "Get to know each other," in the workplace and learn to subconsciously match each others paces. I can tell you like cars. I like math.

  • @williamhood7548

    Your math is infuriating me... Ive never been so upset about horses. Firstly; If one horse can pull (whatever)4000lbs, and two horses can pull 12000lbs (3 times as much) that does NOT mean every added horse will triple their towing ability. It means every time you double the number of towing horses, it triples their towing ability. One horse - 4000 two horses 12000 four horses 36000 eight horses 108000 It is also worth noting that two living creatures falling in to a more effective work rhythm given sufficent time and familiarity is not, "magically getting stronger." I dont know why Im bothering to do this. Wait... yes I do. Im enjoying the challenge; A typical 4 horse trailer weighs between 4000 and 8000lbs. They can obviously hold four horses. Horses tend to weigh between 400kg (880lbs) to 1000kg (2200lbs) Draft horses can pull up to 8000lbs Assuming the mid points of 6000lbs for a trailer, and 1500lbs for a horse; Well, that actually worked out easy enough to do in my head. A single horse can pull a trailer with another horse in it. ((4*1500)+6000)/8000 = 1.5 It would take one and a half horses to pull a 4 horse trailer full of horses. Now lets get weird; A 4 horse trailer is 7'8" by 6'8" by 7'6" which gives it a volume of 108557.2022m^3 (One hundred eight thousand five hundred fifty seven cubic meters) the volume of a horse is approximately 0.5m^3 (1000lb horse) So, if you caulked the edges and tarped the horse-seeing-outie-bits, you could fit 217114.4045 blended horses in a 4 horse trailer. Which would weigh about 217,114,404.48lbs. Assuming these horses are simply casual work-buddies, and not ride-or-die yet, it would take 27,140 horses to pull a 4 horse trailer full of blended horse. (And no. I did not factor in the "2 horses makes 3 horses worth of pulling," bit. Its too complicated, Ive been working on this too long already, and I assume there to likely be diminishing returns on that math anyway. What with inertia and whatnot.) TL;DR - I spent a lot of time doing this math. I even blended up horses. Go back and read it.
