As someone who worked at starbucks, they keep track of how many free drinks you give away while signed onto your till and I’ve seen baristas get fired and taken to court because they racked up 2k in losses for the company over giving out $6 of stuff a day. For reference, that’s one free drink to appease an angry customer/day. Working in the drive through you’re guaranteed to have more than one during a rush. If a barista gives you free drinks, it is with that in mind! Even knowing that I still tried to hook my regulars up on occasion

Here's a little tip that may be obvious but apparently a lot of people don't know this- go to a fast food restaurant thirty minutes before close and they will give you extra of things you ordered depending on what you ordered. Like if you order a medium fry, they'll give you more than a large maybe because they can't use those fries the next day. Nuggers too.

As someone who worked at a Sonic, when someone drives off in the drive-thru- well first this is why we read the order back to you at the window or should do so- the food that was made and not bought is often given to the employees at our employee discount price. Some fast food places allow the employees to just...have the unwanted food for free depending on the manager and how lax the company is on that. As for passing you in the fast food line when someone dips out? They're NOT SUPPOSED TO? DO THAT? Haha

I lived in Montreal for several years and there was actually a dearth of Tim Horton's. It was a problem. Maybe there are more now, but when I lived there it was so hard to find any. Having said that, there were SO MANY good coffee places, there was no reason to go to McD's for coffee...I mean, unless you just really liked it. Also...petrol? You know we don't call it petrol in Canada, right? And DEFINITELY not in Montreal.

Just so y'all know, Tim Horton's coffee supplier started selling to McDonald's (at least in Canada) after Tims got bought out by an American chain which took a fucking stumpgrinder to the company and reduced the quality of fucking EVERYTHING to save cost. So in Canada, if you go to McDonald's for a coffee, it's the closest you'll get to old school Tims. No serious Canadian actually gives Tims the time of day anymore. Their coffee is atrocious, and they treat their workers like shit.

Literally the way you do this is you just like....become chill with the workers at the place! Become a regular! I'm the chattiest bitch on the planet and that has paid off a lot when it comes to getting extras. There's two Starbucks near me and I will always go out of my way for one of them because I know the workers and they know me. They've given me a larger size drink before just because they know me (and on one occasion, because I commiserated with one of them about a rude ass customer). I get a coffee almost daily at the Dunkin near my house and one of the guys who works there gives me a free donut every time I come in all because I chat with him. Like, it is (theoretically) so easy to get fast food friends. You just gotta be a regular and you gotta care about them as a person, not just as the person who could hook you up!!

shout out to my fast food friend for figuring out the manager's code that lets them give discounts and using it to give us discounts.
I had two dunkin donuts friends who I met at dunkin donuts who hooked me up with free donuts every now and then and it is indeed magical

Where we live if we go to Mcdonalds and say we are missing something we ordered they automatically believe us and just give it to us-so we could get a free Big Mac just from politely asking basically
once i went to a burger king in which they: - did not have meat. like any meat. basically just chicken nuggets. - more than once gave us iced tea instead of coke. - *did not have meat.* - very long wait times at the drivethru not only that but they had started the store literally like 30 feet from a mcdonalds. at least we got our drink cups for free though
Having worked at a Burger King, I can tell you for a fact they do not close if they run out of beef. They just put up a sign saying we don't have any burgers just order chicken instead. And boy do people yell at you in the drive-thru for that.
somewhere in dallas texas is a lobster and crab food based fast food resturaunte that does serve scampi and lobster bisque thru the drive thru
Ive done that. We just pulled into a taco bell drivethru, told the order taker that we changed our mind, then pulled up to the window and paid for the mystery meal from behind us. It was like, seven spicy potato burritos, two mexican pizzas and four Dews. It worked out pretty well, I think.

That scenario did happen to my dad. He was at a Wendy’s late so their lobby was close and some guy who I guess didn’t have a car just walked up to the drive-through window and collected my dad’s meal and he saw it happen and told the staff, and it was just sort of a oh well.
i once went to starbucks in america and i ordered some snacks and some coffee and then my mom was like u ordered the wrong thing and i was like oh fuck and went back, my anxiety going buck wild, and i asked if i could give it back to them and get the money back (the food was still wrapped up and warm and all that, hadn’t been touched) and the dude gave me my money back AND let me keep the snack. at that moment i went god bless america and i love new york.

I worked at a homophobic chicken and they were very strict about not being allowed to give out free food, but that may have just been our owner
No one will probably see this, but I have encountered fast food pirates. I was at a Wendy's I put in my order and as I was rounding the building to the window a jeep comes around on the out side, cuts me off and takes my spot in front of the drive through. Shit was crazy.
As a Canadian, I cannot stress enough that McDonalds coffee is known to be better than Timmies'
I work at Wendy's and fast food friends are a thing and many people come to the drive thru asking for their sweet fast food pal
Edit: thank you based Justin Travis was *so wrong.* Drink sales are actually the *premium* product, and where fast food restaurants (and concession stands) get *most* of their profit because of how cheap they are to produce. Yeah actually McDonalds does exactly this where I live. A lot of them have 2 drive through lanes that just arbitrarily merge. I'll order before someone but they'll pull in front of me and just get my order. I've asked the employees about it and they all say its just fuckin horrible.

I mean, if anything other than gas, the quebecois would call it de l'essence, because that is french for gasoline. But, they are not real french people, so they most likely just call it gas.
