Over a year later, it's interesting that this reassurance is worded to be completely time- and event-agnostic. A two-minute reminder to stay in the moment and panic less, which is helping me pull myself out of a personal phase of general fear.

Going by the comments, sometimes this advice isn't the best thing, but today I actually really needed to hear this. This is more for, I think, when small things are piling up and make it seem like everything is slowly crumbling, not for when you're in the middle of one big terrible crisis situation. If you are in the latter, I hope things work out for you

as some who's Non binary friend was rushed to the hospital last night after they attempted suicide because people at their school now think it's okay to bully them, I'd say that this is a tad tone deaf. love you boys and I know you didn't mean it but this is maybe not the most comforting thing

jthen7 calling suicide selfish? You really shouldn't be telling people they're tone death.

I don't know, dear boys. I took this same tone with my lgbt+/poc friends and the results were...not great. What I was trying to tell them was that I'd be there for them, would stand with them in solidarity. It came off as tone deaf and maybe condescending? It's hard to tell someone it's all going to okay when their house is burning down around them. Maybe we should let the fear and rage in and let it galvanize us. Maybe we shouldn't tell people how to feel.

I don't....I don't get how the onus is placed on the brothers instead of you? This is just a general advice on bad situations, and it can certainly be helpful, especially during times when panicking doesn't help and a rational thought is the much more preferable solution. Like sure it can be tone deaf in certain situations, but that is on YOU, not on the brothers. They're doing fine and this is a good general advice imo.
