I had to remove the rear bumper of my Mazda CX- 5 in order to install a tow bar. This instruction video was really helpfull . The spoken comment is very understandable and step by step I succeeded in removing the bumper. Greet video. goed teacher. By the way I am in The Netherlands.

I know it probably seems like common knowledge to many of us concerning disconnecting the battery before working on a car, but most people actually don’t remember that or think of it at all. I’m glad you mentioned that for people to hear!

Thank you for your detailed steps for fixing the rear bumper. May I ask, when hit by car behind causing damage to rear bumper, the rear protective bar covered by the bumper will in avoidable be damaged which required replacement as well. Can we fix it easily by ourselves too?

fast Fwd 1-yr later and we were rear ended in a chain reaction crash. the lower black portion took damage from the other person's front plate 😣. w/o a front plate, damage would have been minimal; however, the two bolts dug through the plastic. need to check the rear crash bar. luckily, no airbags deployed. I wrench happiest when nothing breaks, even the plastic clips, when disassembling

+Jason So I would say yes, the location of clips and screws will be similar. Not sure about the tail lights though.

happywrenching hi i have a similar dent on my cx 5 on that area. Did you use the heat gun directly to the dent front outside or inside?

Gene Kim I just boiled some water and poured it on the inside of the bumper. Let it sit for a minute or so and was then able to push the dent out. With a heat gun, I would still use it on the inside of the bumper.

The right side of my rear bumper is not clipping in fully closed to the bumper cover not tail light. What do I need to fix that? Appreciate any help on this.

+Trace' Kester I personally don't have a video but those things are glued on so treat it as you would an emblem. Search for "how to remove car emblem" - there are some good videos on KZread for that. You will need fishing line, and heat gun (even a hair dryer would probably work).

not painted; all black plastic. however the top section is smooth and the lower section is textured.

there should be access panels behind the rear tire (held by plastic clips or possibly concealed by the rear mud guards) and from underneath where he was removing the two Philips head screws...

Is that black matt part can be changes or it's all one piece?

Sand with wet or dry 320 grit, clean and dry first, then spray with semi flat black bumper spray from your Wesco Automotive supply store or from an auto parts store.

your voice has to carry more energy and try not having long periods of silence... video is great
