If you have a power socket in the trunk or rear seat you can get power there. The blue wire is +12v. Just make sure you fuse it properly. Also - Its about time someone posted this. Thanks U-Haul.

@@diegobonaventura8501 just buy an in-line fuse holder and crimp into the circuit near the source socket (on positive wire, which is center post on the socket).

So basically, you'd just start on the passenger side (where we have a power socket, and tap into the blue wire with the inline fuse that comes in the kit for power instead of running all the way to the front. Nice! I haven't checked yet, but is there a grommet on the passenger side floor to pass the 4 pin connector through to get it to the hitch?

Thanks for putting out the video! Running that power cable is not easy if you don’t have a lift, I barely fit under the car and I’m a skinny guy. 😬 Just a note, if you have the back seat collapsing handles on the 2021 model, you have to remove the screw that’s hidden under a cover as well.

Why not use an existing ground; plenty back there to choose from? In my 2016, the rear carpet/floor is attached to the rear seats and does not remove; it only folds out of the way. The single power wire is the most difficult part - either run it under and up to the engine bay or try the 12v power port on the p-side...

...most of the work is fighting the side (plastic) panel to get the box and wiring tucked away. I'm under the car now and getting that power wire to the engine by is not easy (staying away from heat and moving parts)...might do the power socket despite punching through the wire grommet on the d-side floor

At 3:53, an exclusive power wire is mentioned from U-Haul. Do you have the part number or a link?

...most kits come with the (power) wire and fuse holder separately. You just have to crimp the fuse holder to the power wire and crimp the power wire to little box in the back. Takes a crimper and 10 seconds. (you may have to strip the wire too (1/4") on each end so wire strippers are also needed. If you don't have the tools, then I guess their exclusive (power) wire is necessary.

I installed this on a 2017 Mazda CX-5 and only the left blinker is working. I have no idea why the rest isn't working. i have been troubleshooting for hours and still cant understand what is wrong with my install. any suggestions ?

Did you ever get this resolved? My suggestion would be to double check the harness connections on the right side if they're not working on that side. Also, what are the chances that the bulb is out on the right side? 😅

Hello! I just installed the harness #56377 in my Mazda CX5, guided by the video l and so far everything went smoothly (very illustrative by the way), however after testing the system I realize that the light Driver's side turn signal now flashes 2x faster than passenger's. I already reviewed the FAQ section and validated the points that came there without being successful in solving the problem. Can you help me please? Any one else with the same problem?

@@bhascarg2581 Yes, it turns out that the version I installed was not compatible with the model of my SUV (2023), I simply change it to the correct version (CMF56487) and problem solved!

...you can thank Mazda for that considering they don't want the CX-5 to tow anything in the US market. I have the tekonsha kit and it's just as after the fact. Nice kit, but the blame should be on Mazda. I didn't see any mention of wire loom. No sealant on the (plastic) grommet. My grommet in our '16 awd is rubber and has wires going through it. Not a fan of cutting the grommet as shown, but there is no real easy way to get the 4-pin to the outside of car. Otherwise, it has to smashed by the rear door when in use. 😔

Yeah geez, just whack a tek in for a ground, no split tube over the wiring, tin snips on the grommet! Just throw that fuse down there, she'll be right. Wow.

My '09 Subaru Forester had a plug right by the spare tire and the adapter plugged in there. No additional power wire, no panel removal.. man I miss that car
