Glad someone finally posted a video , I have some subs and those plastic parts would rattle, I wanted to take them off and put some type of rubber tape so they wouldn’t rattle how they would but had no idea on how to remove the plastic parts without breaking em!

Thanks for posting! Turned out all 4 of the nuts holding it on had fallen completely off and were stuck in the bottom of the lift gate. I didn’t have to take off any of the clips (or break them) I was able to just put some thread locker on the nuts and tighten them up as much as possible. Those middle ones you can’t fit a tool on, they they are as finger tight as can be with thread locker. Hopefully it’ll last.

Took me a few tries to figure out the squeak too. I initially thought it was the gas struts or their attach points, then I figured it was probably the hatch latch mechanism. Lubed everything, but still had the squeak. I finally shook the spoiler and replicated my squeak issue. A couple of the spoiler nuts had fallen off the bolts. Ordered some new nuts, installed them with LocTite and am now several years squeak-free. My spoiler side plastic trim rattles a bit when shaken, but I cannot hear it inside the car so haven’t yet felt the need to secure those trim pieces better. Just this week, I had the driver side flip-down sun visor fail to stay stowed. It started to just flop down and would not stay stowed against the headliner. Replaced it this afternoon. Also zip-tied the driver side leather seat tab brackets under the seat that kept popping loose. Now I need to Shoe Goo the front driver and passenger vinyl door trim pieces above the arm rest that have started to lose adhesion and are separating from the door panel. And also now my passenger rear window no longer rolls up fully, leaving about 1/4” gap. Need to pull the door panel tomorrow and see what I need to do to fix this issue. I quite like the little 2014 CX-5 but after 8 yrs and 48,000 miles the build quality is showing its shortcomings. I have had my 2002 VW GTI for 20 yrs now, and haven’t had any similar annoying little issues as I’m now having with the CX-5.

@@carvinglife Fortunately they’re mostly simple and inexpensive fixes. The window issue is the most annoying. Hope to have it solved tomorrow. Seems something supporting the window regulator has broken or come loose, causing some excess play in the window travel. The motor and regulator seem to be working fine mechanically.

@Carving Life I did something similar with double sided tape rolled it into a cylindrical shape and squeezed it into the gaps and it stopped the rattling. Now just need to figure out the rattling noise i hear that comes from the front driver side when i throttle and go uphill or over certain bumps. checked heat shields, exhaust, none of them seem to have any issues. I have been through multiple inspections with different technicians and no one is able to replicate the sound but i can hear it!

@@carvinglife It was driving me crazy to. I was able to fish out the two nuts that came out without taking the interior apart on my tailgate. I have a magnet wrapped in electrical tape and was able get em out through the access panel for the brake light. I just tightened em down and the main noise went away. But the little black "winglet's" on the side of the spoiler are still making noise. So when my new center brake light comes in I'm also going to replace all the clips and isolation pieces I saw in the spoilers exploded view. The Mazda dealer was able to print me out an exploded view of the whole rear tailgates spoiler section.

The three clips left are ones that you literally need to pull out. One by one Support the spoiler close to the clips and give a tug straight up it should pop out. Start on one side and go to the other. You are going to need a little leverage so it helps to stand on something so you can pull properly.
