How to locate and fix front end noise CLUNKS || Mazda CX 5 Mazda 3 & 6
Apologize forgot about this post prior upgrading my LCA bushing to polyurethane bushing from Super Pro. In this episode I will be identifying and try to eliminate a front end noise created on the Mazda CX 5. Noise occurs only on the driver side during vehicle going over uneven road dips as well as a going over small speed bumps. I am suspecting previously I may have harshly hit a big pot hole it was way before i had my coilover suspension kit installed and Before you Start replacing many parts such as ball joint , tie rods , end links , etc please try this simple method shown.
Noise type: Suspension component type of noise. (Popping noise & Gruk “ noise ) on the driver side.
In the forums will suggest to perform TSB 02-003/15 on suspension clunks or TSB on Clicking / Rattling chassis noise from Mazda. Neither any of that aren't doing it for my case .
In my case it was the front Lower Control arm (Rear) bushing where the hole joints the LCA had been twisted / over flexed (metal to metal) to the point where it freezes up inside the hole making stress on the rubber bushing thus creating the unwanted cabin noise whilst driving.
I am hoping this will be a good solution to eliminate the intermittent Popping noise & Gruk” noise to all Mazda CX 5 owners / All Mazda owner that has the same skyactiv chassis
.
PLEASE WORK ON THE SAFE AREA WITH PROPER TOOLS

I am filing a class action lawsuit against Mazda for this issues as they ignoring it’s a manufacturer defect. If you are interest in signing a petition please let me know
just did mine... for the record... is a 3year old cx5 with 55k km.. that bang sound like feels very bad.. hope this is the answer
Solution : silicone grease on bearings in strut mounts
I've had 2 different Mazdas with the same clunk. A CX-5 and a CX-9 (both 2016). I tried this in the CX-9 using Liquid Wrench silicone spray and the noise is gone. I sprayed the lower control arm bushing and the ball joint (just in case). Thanks for sharing!
Same problem with our 2012 cx5. Running smoothly when at fast speeds but there that noise and no one has been able to solve it for years. Thank you for this
You used WD-40 and a mallet to fix. I bet my Mazda dealer would tell me to replace the defective parts which would be very costly. My Mazda 6 2014 is out of warranty.
There's a TSB on this. The problem is the strut bearing.
Wd40 is not a very good lubricant. It won't last. I would use a better product for that purpose. I do like the channel. Keep up to excellent content
I finally gave up trying to find the cause of the infamous clunk. I traded it in for a different brand.
Fuol or desel ?
What an awesome video! You made checking every single joint in the suspension quite simple. I did not know how to 'test' each one and you explained it very well. Thanks so much 👍
Thank very much for the information, spend some money and no mechanic knew what it was, your video helped me a lot.👍
I'm so excited! I been chasing this noise for months, and you've given me hope. Hoping to try this tomorrow.
many thanks my friend,my cx5 is making the same noise for the last few months and every time I go under to check,I couldnt find any issues, thanks again
This is the exact same noise I'm hearing on my passenger side. This is a good place to start. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for this! I have this problem with my 2013 CX5 also. Brought it to my mechanic and could not find any clunk. Good thing I found your video when I searched KZread. Tried using silicon spray instead of WD-40 (because they say it dries rubber), and I think it worked! I will update you again for I will drive it tomorrow. Thank you so much for posting this!
Cool findings, mate! Please do share more on CX5 issues. Tqvm😘
Wow! You're a genius! Im on a cx5 forum on Facebook and many owners have been noticing this problem including myself since we bought one 2 months ago. Many thanks for your great video, time and effort!
I will try this fix with silicone spray next week on my Mazda CX-5 2014. I’ll come back here with my findings. I’ve replaced the front shock absorbers, as that seemed to be the obvious cause with them being 9 years old, but that didn’t solve it. Now I’ve stumbled on your fix and I can’t wait to try it!
Great video. I have a 2018 CX5 and don’t have that problem, but good to know for the future. Maybe use some kind of lubricant that conditions the rubber joints. Keep those videos coming.
