UPDATE: I had a tech come out to diagnose, I was told it was too expensive to repair and better off buying a new washer. Well, the noise stopped shortly after and it has not occurred since, almost two years ago now. No idea.

The family heirloom Maytag lasted 30 + years .. The new replacement Maytag with more bells and sensors went on life-support after just 2 years and extended warranty 3 years is all thats expected..

@@fatsdulange We replaced the transmission gear case. Took us about 2 hours and cost about $200.00 including a spanner nut tool to remove the tub.

Mine has been doing this for at least a year. I was told by a repairman , who I sent a video to, that it's the gear box and cost is $450 to replace. I don't know for sure that's the problem though. I'm just glad I found something here that shows the sound. My machine is only 5 years old and not heavily used. So disappointed, I replaced a 12 year old Kenmore with this.

Mine too, brand new starting using it yesterday. Was hoping it's a break-in thing or something. Only does it in the wash/agitate cycle, nothing heard during spinning so idk.

not sure if you saw my update comment, but the noise stopped on its own with nothing done or swapped out. Hope yours stops as well

The only thing I did was tilt the washer far back to look underneath. When I put it back the noise stopped and never returned. I almost feel like it was not balanced correctly and it fixed itself after getting underneath it.
