Yes, mine did this for awhile too. Basically, you’re overloading it - don’t be fooled by the large drum; it can’t handle more than half a tub of clothes - so the belt is slipping, creating that squealing noise.

Unfortunately the size of load never mattered for this machine.

I have the same issue. But mine has gotten so loud. Does anyone know what is causing it?

We purchased this Maytag MVW7230Hw washer from Pochel’s in Tacoma, Washington. It was delivered and set up by the delivery person. We tried to do a load of laundry and the washer wouldn’t agitate. I took a video to show that the agitator pretty much just vibrated, and didn’t even disturb the small amount of suds that formed when the machine partially filled with water. I took the video to Pochels the next morning. They said they would gladly deliver another machine for only $100. I told them I wasn’t willing to pay an additional $100 to get a machine that worked when I had already paid over $1,000 for one that obviously didn’t work. Pochels told me to contact Maytag for a repair. I explained that since I had the machine less than 24 hours, I didn’t think it appropriate to call for a repair, but they explained that was my only option. I called Maytag, and the first appointment is several weeks out Later we tried another load of laundry and the washer literally tried to dry clean the clothes. You can see in the video that there is NO water in the machine, enough water came out to dampen the clothes and that was it. At least this time the agitator worked! But I have to manually add water to each load even though I put it on maximum fill. It takes about 4 hours to do a load of laundry. This machine is supposed to save water, but even when the agitator does work and you manually add water to the machine, you have to push heavy jeans under the water and swish them around with your hand to get them clean. I might as well go to the river and pound my clothes on the rocks. The agitator doesn’t always work, the fill doesn’t always work, the agitator tries to dry clean the clothes with no water in the tub the clothes on top don’t get clean.

If you buy a high efficiency machine with a washplate and no agitator, it's going to use less water. That's by design.

I've got the same issue now with this model and trying to diagnose. Did you find a solution?

The maytag repair people kept coming out until they finally replaced every component. It stopped. I have no idea which component was the issue.

Ours is a couple of months old and it’s squeaking 😮

So did you ever find out what made that noise. Mine has g be wen doing the samething

I can almost guarantee your belt is bad. A new belt will fix the issue.

It's crazy - they replaced the belt a couple of times and it didn't fix it. Finally replaced basically everything at once and it went away.

Need to replace Brake rotor.

Eventually, the maytag repair person just replaced everything they could and it went away. They came to my house at least 4 times. It was insane.
