Uncle took me out salmon fishing and it was nearly as big as me. Dad and uncle were on each side constantly trying to make sure I didn’t lose grip of my uncle’s rod XD

Yea the first time I went fishing I caught a trout and it was the best feeling. It really got me hooked into fishing. I don't think I would be still fishing today if I dident get that feeling of catching a fish.

Same but I had no worm or nothing it was an empty hook dangling in the water and I was 2 or 3 and I somehow hooked a bluegill and with baby strength cried to my mom

My first ever fish on a rod and reel was a decent sized bonefish. I had my index finger on the line and when the fish hit it burnt my finger. That experience really got me hooked into fishing.

My begginers luck was catching a perch on my cheap telescopic rod and the only thing I had on the line was an empty jig head.

Pretty sure my very first fish was a bluegill when my grandpa taught me how to use a cane/bamboo pole but my first fish when I really got into fishing was a 5.5 lb bass(and my current PB)

(King of a long personal story, don’t read if you have a short attention span) My Dad took my sister, my stepsister, my stepmom, and I to his friend’s trailer. (They let us use it for the weekend.) My dad asked if I wanted to get up early to go fishing for breakfast, of course I said yes. I was like 7-9 at the time. We got up at 6am and took the boat out. We spent about 30 minutes fishing in random spots, and we found the HONEY HOLE! So many big large mouth bass. I kept seeing my Dad reel in a lot, but I didn’t get any yet. Finally, I got one on the line. It was heavy. I reeled it in until the very front of the boat, but it broke off. I still had the lure, though. Then, my Dad had one on the line. I held my lure above the water and watched him reel it in, and it was big enough to keep. Right after he got it off the hook, a bass LEPT out of the water and grabbed onto my lure. We were both SHOCKED. And it was big enough to keep! I was so happy. I’m 20 now, and I’ll never forget that story until the day I die. We had a wonderful fish fry for breakfast that morning. It felt so awesome to come home with fresh breakfast for the family. My Dad isn’t a big fish person, but my stepdad was. He taught me how to clean a fish, so I had to give my Dad pointers at 7-9 years old on how to properly filet the bass 😂. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so proud

when I was a beginner my first rare catch was a lion fish, second rarest was a remora, and my best catch was a nursing shark. Caught it when I was young too 😭

First fish I ever caught was a 13” brook trout. Core memory because it was the first fish after so many fishing trips with my dad.

Grandpa bought me out for fishing for the first of time caught a sunfish. I was so excited I was like six lol

As an asian, I fish for siakap(Barramundi), when I first went fishing, I caught a 6kg siakap with a chunk of dead bait, and my brother mocked me as I didn't catch a fish yet, then later, a 3 Kilo Red drum bit my live prawn, safe to say I laughed at my brother

When I was four, I hooked up on a massive around 5-10 lbs speckled trout and I caught it and my dad was speechless

I got a 20lb catfish on my first time

When i was a beginner 2nd time fishing i was using a gang hook on one hook a 70 cm flathead and on the other an 85cm spotted mackarel on the same line!

Started fishing back in October and no word of a lie; I asked my boy could I “Try out his rod” and on my first cast pulled out a Northern Pike. Been fishing 3/4 times weekly every chance I get ever since.

Story time: So the first fish that I caught was on my boat and we were anchored at an island for a calm day at the beach, but I wanted to fish apparently. So I set a line in, moments later I reeled it in and guess what was on the hook. 🥁 🥁 🥁 a starfish!!!

I did the same thing. I went salt water fishing for the first time and on my first cast I reeled up a 6 and a half foot tarpon. Now I love to salt water fish.( The video of the tarpon is on my KZread).

that's sick! the first time i caught a fish was when i tangled my line bad, so my dad fixed it, and when i reeled the line back up, there was a lil red fish on the hook! turns out the hook was dangling in the water so a fish decided to bite lol

My Papa was fishing in Northern Canada and his buddy who was fishing for the first time caught a record lake trout. This was mid 90s.

Yellow Jack aren't rare. In south Florida they are pretty common; however that one's pretty big!
