Lures vs Bait - What Catches Most Fish?

Lure fishing and bait fishing are two very different tactics so I challenge@The_ginger_fisherman to a competition, to see who catches most!

The Ginger one always makes lure fishing look so easy. I've had so many blank lure sessions!
I avidly watch both your channels both very good,I find Carl teaches me more but Chris’s Lure fishing is just out of this world, his casting accuracy is 😮

Are you not allowed to use live bait fish as bait in UK? If you could Carl would’ve won easily. I live in U.S. and I use 5cm live fish to catch different species from 15cm to 60 cm easily

@@karlvanhoesel4311 You can, but remember that many anglers care for fish - We often return the fish to water in better condition than when we hooked it as there's a lot of parasites over here to remove. Hence many of us don't like the idea of torturing a live fish to use it as bait.

Man rivers in England must be real different than America. Out Greek chub are like 2 in and that's it. And you couldn't go river fishing in America without catching trout. But great video. Those chub are huge and the pike are always great catches
Great video as usual carl. Great to see you and Chris trying different things. I don't think I've ever seen anyone fish with lures like Chris he's the king of lure fishing.

i will just choose lure (not edible) because it's a matter of pure deception for me to the fish
Great Battle, great to watch. Carls angling skills put up a great contest. But as Chris says he knows the river like the back of his hand and his casting skills didn't expect such a close contest. 👏🎣👌

It really depends on the location. In a shallow and clear running water, lures are much more effective than let's say on a slowly flowing deep river where bait takes the lead.
As always some fine content from both yourself and Chris, loving both of your channels! This video in particular has made me intrigued about something, I noticed you had two rods with you. I can see your usual feeder rod with the Guru reel and then a shorter rod! I'm a massive fan of compact gear, I usually use 6ft extendable rods such as those from Nash or Sonik. While these can be used alongside a bite alarm I've always wanted a short rod with a quiver style tip for short distance feeder fishing. Regarding the shorter rod you have in the video, it looks like a drop-shot or jig/spin rod. I've always wondered how well these sorts of rods would fare when using them with an appropriate method feeder or bomb. Is this something you've done yourself?
Carl, you and Chris should make more shows Together. You both make Great videos. I watch them all just like a lot of people .

Great video. For me it all depends on water temp and how concentrated the fish are. When the water is cold, or the fish are concentrated in key areas... like in a river, I will usually use bait. I fish alot of long, shallow, non-descript lake shores though, where its vital to cover a ton of water searching out aggressive fish raiding the shallows. For this I find bait almost useless, I just cant cover ground fast enough.

First thing, I love both your channels! Some species, mostly trout, I don't bother using bait anymore. Ice fishing in Canada we are allowed 2 lines. I don't bother using the second set line anymore when fishing brook trout. I catch them all day long on the artificial lures adjacent to my second line with live bait and the hit the jigged artificial lure every time! They love to chase!

Nice work! A shout-out from the USA, Detroit area, which actually has *great* fishing. I used to mainly use natural bait, and now use only lures for predator fishing, and have caught way more fish, but I attribute it more to experience, and having a boat to get to places I couldn't otherwise reach. Do a lot of trolling to cover water along structure, and often find triggering motions like quick jerks while checking the lure to see if it's clear to get 'em to strike. Also jerk/pause retrieves, especially for pike.
Absolutely loved this well done guys 🎣

guys that was very nice! I also like the casual plastic bag from the trees - seriously! Where I live this is a massive problem and it gets ignored from both anglers and passengers as well, like "nah that is not my problem/not my job" - which is strange since everybody seems to talk nowadays how important it is to have a healthy environment. Would be so cool if you would address that problem in one of your videos - does not need to be political, but you could reach out to many young anglers!
