Yes do a catch and cook with Darrell. And by the way catfish are not bottom feeders they are an ambush fish they eat gizzard shad any bait fish. From muscles to clams and bluegills

For your problems with the line getting cut I would recommend using mono because that has way more cut resistance that is what I always use it it works great

You think so? I can bite through mono and cut it with cheap old nail clippers, but I can’t say the same about my braided line. Haven’t gone over 20 pounds for either so maybe the larger line makes a difference, but from my experience braided is far more cut resistant.

Fished here in '88 on leave from Ft. McClellan. We went downstream to see if we could catch a bass or two. There was a copperhead behind a downed tree blocking the trail. We sent it to copperhead hell. However, we where there during a bass tournament and our boat reservation was cancelled. That's why we were here with the catfishermen. It was really packed that day. The locals were doing well. Thanks for the video!

I always love blessing people with some fish I caught when I'm on 'em. I live in Mississippi so everyone loves to eat some bass, bream, and cats.

In heavy current, get down a bit and cast up toward the outlets and let it drift past you. Real in and repeat. Use the drift. It works. Works for big blues, flathead, walleye( if you have them) wipers, white bass. Use appropriate bait or lures/jigs for species. Nightcrawlers and shiners work for everything. Leaches on a jig in spring work for walleye.

You need right action matched to weight being cast to maximize distance. Sometimes if the rod is too big, you cant get the full load from flex of the rod on cast.

I’m planning a trip this weekend to the Chicamauga dam in Chattanooga… definitely gonna bring the mallows!

Right next to that wall their are multiple bait fish swimming ! And their are more ways down on the far side for more fish ! Good luck down their !

Bak fisherman here, one tip to cast further is to have more line our when yoy cast. I match the weight to the halfway point of my rod and that works good for me

You mean going

we fish the neuse here, pretty swift water. we use 80 pound braid to 80 pound mono leader with a Santee setup. keep the hook from snagging the bottom, and we see the catfish tend to strike and go up, not down. we use a sinker slide rig with 6-10 ounce coin weights, and let the rig drift out a bit.we use size 8 octopus hooks from gamakatzu. for the rod, you got to get the "whip in the tip" to get it out there. we use chicken breast, chicken gizzards, shrimp, and chicken breast/gizzard marinated in creamy zesty italian salad dressing for about 3 days. wish i could put pictures in here. we catch 14 pound plus. wife caught her PB 14 pounder, and her personal best bag of 25 pounds in 1 night. monster fighters.

Try letting a little more line out when your casting maybe another foot or 2. Let it swing a few times before you cast and wait for that good momentum to build then follow through and your cast will get further, i had the same problems and a guy showed me one night while surf casting his technique and it helped me cast further.

I’ve been sick for over a month now. Watching the vids makes me feel a little less bad about missing the good fishing weather we’ve had here recently 😂

6" to 10" white twister tail grubs, with a 1 oz head, 6/0 hook I use a 14' Rod with an 800 series spinning reel.When it's generating it's a killer combo. Throw right behind the gates let current run it.. Right behind the gates are where we throw our nets. Don't mess around or you won't have it long.

Gotta try night time catfishing, especially on rivers with cut or live bait, I use 65-85Lbs braid with 80Lb mono leader, cut up or live bluegill, carp, and bullhead

Wow im liking these recent videos great content 👌 so ive noticed for me once ur rod is so long it actually starts negatively affecting ur cast distance i did the same thing you did i got the 13 fter i couldnt cast it at all got me 11ft and it was just right to sling em for me thats what worked try to change the size again and see what happens

Dude. Forget the marshmallows. Use chicken livers on a 6/0 circle hook and use magic thread to keep it on the hooks. For flatheads use live bluegills or bluegill heads.

Lojo I HIGHLY recommend a cast net with a 3/16 mesh. You’ll catch all type of baits and different sizes.

When u cast the big surf rods have a couple more feet of line out already so that weight loads up the rod on your back swing

As someone who grew up on that lake, chicken gizzards always pull in the catfish there. Y’all should fish drag nasty creek or the sunken bridge next time you’re there.

LOJO I grew up catfishing and more than bass fishing I watched a lot of ur videos learning techniques but when it comes to catfishing I wouldn’t use braid you can get 50 pound mono it works better and when it comes to reels if you want a nice setup either grab a zebco 808-888 or a abu Garcia ambassador

Need to try fishing up on them holes along the wall during what your calling slack water and cast along the holes during discharge

I'd love to try a baitcaster there with some 20lb on it. Fish in those back currents downstream. I use mine down here on the Mississippi. Get some monster cats carp and buffalo on it. Might want to try some garden dut crawler's next time too. Though the mellows are doing pretty good.👍😄

@LOJO you should either tie a knot in your weight line or tie lighter leader for your weight line than your main line that way you just loose your weight and not your whole set ups!

Killing it Lojo! We are winding down on the last week or two of striper season over here in Ny. You would LOOOVVVE hooking into some of these river monsters. We actually get annoyed if we catch a 15 pound catfish, we got a couple 30 + pound bass today. My father put a few videos up on his channel @ Dan Wheeler of the past few weekends. If you are ever up my way around mid may, I can absolutely guarantee to put you on some 35 plus inch fish. A guy up the tracks from us got a 55 pounder last year.

Content has been awesomer lately! To see you doing more than the same ole bass fishing is rad. And putting yourself out there doing shit you admit to not know much about is really cool. Killer video! Now do a collab with 618….

Regularly use 15feet+ rods for cliff fishing, a ton of fun

Gotta have your drag loose when you set your surf rods like. Not loose enough for the current to pull drag but loose enough your rod doesn’t fly in the water

Here in northeast Oklahoma when generators kick on people go out to snag spoonbill and some folks throw spooks to catch some monster stripers.

Looks like a blast great deal on those combos. Never shopped academy gonna have to get one!

Chicken livers with some garlic liquid attraction will work great. Or some cut bait! Try to use a bigger hook at the bottom and a smaller hook on the top to see which one they’ll get hooked on better

I fish at lake pikawick spillway. Yeah,when they let that water out ot rises quickly lol. But the fish start feeding.
