Maximal Expansive Breathing

Maximal Expansive Breathing (MEB) is like strength training for your respiratory muscles. Just like any other muscle in the body, the diaphragm can be trained in the maximally shortened position and in the maximally lengthened position, and when you hold your breath, this is considered isometric training for your diaphragm and respiratory tissues.
And just like any other muscle or body positioning, breathing is subject to the law of specificity - if you want to breathe more efficiently in a specific position, you have to train your breath in that specific position, so choose a position that fits your unique situation (example: looking to improve your efficiency while cycling? Spend time in collapsed quadruped, or on your hands and knees while sitting on your heels).
This training makes breathing at rest and during exertion easier and more efficient - allowing for more available oxygen to the working muscles and enabling you to perform harder for longer before needing to rest. And when you do need to rest, recovery is improved as well due to the increased performance of your respiratory system.
Additionally, this is a great method of learning how to breath properly via the diaphragm which has proven to substantially decrease discomfort and create intra abdominal pressure which is the necessary first step for learning how to maintain tension and bracing.
