also if they don't announce the stuff that's specifically for you it's trash. The only game in this direct I'm genuinely excited about is the Another Code remake but even I can recognize there's some games in here that are a big deal.

I love Max's commentary on games he knows inside and out but it's even more fun to watch him try to decipher the unfamiliar Rosetta Stone of Nintendo franchises in real time. This is basically 45 minutes of "Tell me you don't play that much Nintendo without telling me you don't play that much Nintendo".

But yeah, I see his reaction and I'm like, "How do you _not_ know this was a thing? Even if you hadn't heard of the original you _must_ have heard of at least one of the - like - half-dozen Minis-focused 'sequels' it got."

Max should absolutely play it, given he finds the time with all the fighting game out and coming out. One of my top 3 favorite Mario games of all time with excellent gameplay and a remarkable story. However, I'm still waiting for Max to play Hollow Knight, lmao.

I love how Max doesn't even remember F-Zero 99 was his idea. It was like 3 or 4 years ago when he said "You know what would actually work really great as one of these 99 games? F-Zero 99". I think he said it around the release of Pac-Man 99 or Mario 35.

Be great to see Max play Thousand Year Door its one of nintendos greatest and a stellar RPG. Not to mention its genuinely one of the funniest games ever made

Much respect in Max in not being remotely upset in the reveal of F-Zero 99. Game has been a ton of fun so I look forward in him and the doods try it out. I would also be happy if he did stream through Mario RPG blind too.

I feel the same way Max did when it came to this Direct. I never go into these shows expecting Earth Shattering announcements, I just need to see 3 or 4 cool things and have them not waste time with CGI trailers or celebrities talking about movies like every Keighly show.

Honestly the only thing I really wanted out of this direct was Side Order, so I was not disappointed in the slightest. Speaking of, Dedf1sh being part of the story has me pretty excited, given that all we knew about her for the past 4 years or so is that she exists.

If you want it to "make sense" in the way you're talking about, then statistically, EVERY Toad and Goomba we see across the Mario franchise would have a different gender. And this is a universe where an Italian plumber from New York is in a mushroom-themed kingdom where eating a mushroom makes him grow twice his size; realism isn't exactly the series' goal.

I've always had sort of a thing for her, she's really sweet. In a very TP Midna kind of way.

There's a lot to explain about some of these: - Splatoon 3 DLC: Side Order: So the last Splatfest of Splatoon 2, Chaos vs. Order, seemed to decide what style the setting of Splatoon 3 would have. Of course, Chaos won, hence the deserty setting. Side Order seems to go extreme in the other direction. - Mario vs. Donkey Kong: The game itself is like a spiritual sequel to the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong, which was more of a puzzle platformer than an arcade platformer. - Super Mario RPG: No, the splash damage is definitely a new addition. From the look of it, though, it may only happen with perfect timing (like a difference between Great and Excellent). - Luigi's Mansion 2 HD: Yeah, LM2 was called "Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon" in America for unknown reasons. Of course, now that we have a Luigi's Mansion 3, it makes sense to give this a proper numbered title here as well. - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: ...Wouldn't Bowsette just be Toadette in a Bowser form, actually? Going by the name?

@Anonymys43 I think MrAuthor 3ds knows what Bowsette is and (he may correct me if I'm wrong) was just pointing out that logically the name "Bowsette" would refer to Toadette disguised as Bowser. Peach*ette* is Toadette transformed as a Peach lookalike. Bowser transforming into a Peach Lookalike should be "Peachowser" just sayin'

About the Super Mario RPG point: At 8:45, the voice over says, and I quote, "When you time your attacks perfectly, you can now damage all enemies at once."

Not a bad direct, but not a great one either. Max's sentiment is about right, and once again I appreciate how he's fair towards it instead of being a clickbaity rage monster that hates everything just because a lot of it doesnt appeal to him.

This was very clearly a Direct for a system that’s nearing the end of its life. Maybe Nintendo can squeeze out one more Switch 1-focused Direct in February, but I’m now even more convinced that the Switch 2 will be revealed in March. I’m not saying the games presented were awful or anything, but Nintendo is clearly saving the big dogs for the Switch 2. Hell, perhaps the long-rumored Fire Emblem Echoes: Genealogy might be cross-gen now to avoid the same fate as Shadows of Valentia. And another theory, I think Splatoon 3: Side Order was internally delayed (twice, according to the files) because Nintendo is pulling devs from that to the next Animal Crossing since both franchises are made by the same internal Nintendo division (Nintendo EPD Group 5).

Dawg I ain't even kidding, the only announcement that got a reaction out of me was the mio amiibo cause she's like one of my favorite characters period. Luckily though I agree with you since all the switch 2 rumors are starting to go nuts, it just seemed pretty obvious that the switch is getting ready for a switch (hehehe) to a new console. I think most people probably understood that since this seems like the one mid direct that people aren't rioting over, but im sure there's some wackos that were expecting metroid 4 and mario odyssey 2.

⁠@@AndersonTenecela The Eurogamer article mentioned that Nintendo is hoping to release the Switch 2 earlier in 2024 if possible. Because of that, I’m thinking they may be aiming for a September 2024 release as opposed to the holidays. With that said, I do agree with you regarding the February Direct. Also, Nintendo specifically said that new hardware wasn’t factored into their current estimate for the fiscal year. So while the Switch 2 likely isn’t coming until after March 2024 (primarily because announcing the system this year would hurt Switch 1 holiday sales), they didn’t explicitly say those exact words.

I love that Max's bet about farming games has become a tradition. The first time it happened Nintendo showed a farming game SECONDS after Max made the bet lmaooooo

Thousand Year Door is in my top 5 games of all time and the Paper Mario series has not really been good in a long time so I'm VERY excited for that remake, highly recommend that Max (and anyone else) plays this when it comes out.

F-Zero 99 is pure insanity! The Battle Royale Format surprisingly works really well with it and hope Max checks it out!

I'm so glad to hear Max being super fair to and fairly excited about Prince of Persia. There's been a lot of weird negative sentiment around that game but I think it looks sweet and I'm glad I'm not the only one

@@turtlenator6249 The main character of Prince of Persia is, of course, Middle Eastern. It takes place in Persia, it's kinda obvious. When they initially showed the trailer, they immediately showed a black character while blaring rap music, so people assumed the worst. The devs later clarified that the playable character is a bodyguard to the prince and not the prince himself. Keep in mind, this was less than a month after Netflix's disastrous Cleopatra documentary, so people were pretty wary of misrepresentation of people from the Middle East. Of course, some people will take any opportunity they can to be racist, especially in gaming circles on the internet.

I love that they ended the direct with 1000 Year Door, and ended 1000 Year Door with one of the most unhinged aspects of that entire game: Peach accidentally seducing a sentient AI in order to escape the enemy's moon base.

Tools in the Ground is my new favorite Max Running joke 😂

F-Zero 99 is sick folks! Easily paying off the next 20$ for my NSO with that alone, it has so many little details and the fact you're actually in the same race as the other 98 players makes it so caothic in the best kind of way! I'm addicted, send help by the beginning of October if I haven't stopped yet.

I did notice in the thousand year door trailer in the battle scene you saw tattle check so I'm guessing now during battles you can check the tattle log of the enemy and not waste a turn using the move tattle

There's a Vanillaware game I really hope comes to all platforms someday. It's called Muramasa the demon blade. Hands down one of their best titles

I am happy to remakes of the Another Code games. I like both originals and I am excited to see what the remake changed. At least the perspective with a behind the character camera. The DS game was direct over the head and the Wii game from the side. I love the Vanillaware visuals and Unicorn Overlord looked like Battle Ogre. I saw a couple of other games I am interested in and of course F-Zero 99, but that got spoiled for me before I could saw the direct. 😢

I think this Nintendo Direct hit it for me with games like FZero 99 and my Mario RPG games. So psyched for November 17!! Come on Max - do a Lets Play Mario RPG game!! Something to toll away the time til 2024's FF7 Rebirth!

This was worth it for me only for the Thousand Year Door announcement, that game is legit one of the greatest Nintendo has done, the amount of charm and fun it's truly outstanding. Played it years ago, and I'm damn ready to play it again, it's really that good.

Out of all of the things shown from the direct, F-Zero was the only thing that had my caught with Hype, and after playing it nonstop, I have not put any attention in any other game since. Love this game❤

You gotta try POCKET BRAVERY. it's a great game. Entirely pixel based and fully 2D animated in every single frame. It's a great tribute to 3rd Strike and KOF XIII. Also: a better final boss than every single modem SNK game combined.

Life is good when you have no expectations going into a direct A “bad” direct is 90% farming sims that all look and play the same. This was a perfectly fine direct with some fun stuff and some meh stuff. People go into every direct expecting the biggest announcements and consistently whine about it after, like damn yall need to learn eventually. Got grown ass adults crying that nintendo isnt catering their games towards them

splatoon info: this takes place on a post-post-apocalypse Earth after humanity was wiped out 10000 years ago, and all the mutated sea life came out of the warming oceans and took residence on land for reasons that i literally can’t get in to because it will make even less sense. 100 or so years ago there was a territorial conflict between squids and octopus, and now in modern day the entire populace plays essentially war games every day in memoriam. as for what’s happening here, that’s an entire other bucket of worms, and would take even more time to explain (and also go into current events)

I really hope TTYD HD does well because if it does we might get old school Paper Mario back.

ngl... I would think the _opposite._ If anything, he'd get more fun out of teasing the chat members that just want him to take the game seriously... Hell, just look at the scene with Peach and TEC at the end! Even for games he _likes,_ he doesn't take story seriously. The heck kinda chance does TTYD have? Look... I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he'll find something worth his time and effort... but I'd be actually amazed if he was motivated enough in playing, to make it past Chapter 4.

​@@zackrose6261 Easy, there! Max has never been the type to get too "immersed" in a game for the plot, which the Mario RPGs have in abundance. It's practically their _purpose!_ Different gameplay and a story with Mario characters that has actual depth to it. But I digress. It's not about what _I_ take seriously. It's the knowledge that Max won't take it seriously, and people think he'll actually stick with it. Here's my point: Knowing how much of a slog the game gets to be later on, I don't see it retaining him for very long. That's all.

After seeing some reactions, I can respect this direct more. It was very RPG and remake heavy. For me, as a big Contra fan im cautiously optimistic, I’ve never played TTYD and might give it a shot, FZero is fun and cool to see…but that’s it. Other stuff is cool but unsurprising or not for me. Thank God. The F-Zero announcement came out on my birthday, and I've been so busy that I didn't even know about it until now! I'm so glad they gave us a new F-Zero of some kind. I've been wanting to replay all of GX in preparation for something like this.

That Donkey Kong vs Mario is a remake of the Donkey Kong game for the original Gameboy. So even older than Gameboy advance. I played that shit when I was like 7 back in the 90's

No, the one you are talking about is technically the prequel. The first Mario vs Donkey Kong is the spiritual sequel to Donkey Kong for Game Boy, the game you are talking about
