Yus this! This is why they didn't show combat or what the player can do. It was all about the environments and the animals and how they interact with each other. They are expanding on World to the fullest. The amount of monsters on screen is a huge deal already. The monsters and the world has always been as important as the gameplay in Monster Hunter. Though I do agree it still looks like early gameplay. They got a year plus to tighten it up but I'm happy with the direction they are going.

Considering its open world, it should also be considered if a session is no longer limited by 4 hunters at the same time. It could be 16 hunters at the same time, doing different things or collaborating towards a reward. Larger scale events could be a thing, the weather seems to be a glimpse of that.

What this trailer is showing is dynamic weather that changes the environment and monster behaviour, expect Elders to cause insane weather interactions especially if they turf war. The plains has lightning rods that draw lightning so that you don't get hit by lightning, different terrains will benefit the hunter or the monster, and it will keep changing as the fight progresses. The mount has a lot of traversal mechanics and since they also carry a weapon that can possibly be swapped around, you can expect mounted combat to be the new main theme of MH6, taking over wire bugs. They are combining Hunters and Riders together for a mounted hunting experience.

Imaging fighting Jhen Moran in the Great Desert again on a map that actually is big enough to hold the bastard instead of a looping map and how it will feel it jumping out the sand and crashing back down. Or run across some of the bigger monsters or chasing after one like Dala Madur instead of it stay stationary so you can hit it? Like the elemental effects will be insane but the sheer scale we could see for some of these fights is going to be wicked. Jumping about on the bird raptor off the side of cliffs as Dala Madur just rushes through valleys in the mountains or just snaking itself on a crag as we attack it from it's back. YAMA TSUKAMI IS A MAP and we fight some new thunder bug drome type on it while.fighting it cause also reminder they seem to be upping small monsters role as well cause those big Goss Harag like monsters didn't seem like a normal large monster but closer to a Velociprey type given you see difference with one having a shorter tail and them just in a group of 4.

The "reveal" trailer of World was actually not the first video content we got of the game. They also dropped a conceptual video (not a trailer/teaser) featuring some of the early concepts of Anja being lead through the forest before being attacked by Lagi. While the Wilds trailer is more polished, I would have to argue that it's still a concept teaser.

The crazy part of this trailer is the sheer density and quantity of life and open area that the RE: Engine has allowed them to render, especially with the storm obviously taking up tons of space as is. Being able to have 5 Goss-sized creatures, entire herds, a Rathalos, your mount and likely more on the screen at one time is a huge step forward for these games. Considering the release is in 2025, Capcom has plenty of time to polish up the graphics. Everything's already much more saturated than World which is a good sign. I hope they work on the environmental textures, storm effects and skybox by the time we get more info in 2024.

It's pretty much doing what MH has always been doing, building on the previous title. Gen 5 (World) set the base for Gen 6 (this game). That's "the next generation", as in, it's gen 6. There is absolutely no reason to expect some huge leaps and drastic changes. The most drastic a change that's possible now is going open world or full open zone with expanding the maps. And seems like that's what they're doing.

The monster interaction is what's so mind-boggling to me. How are elder dragons going to interact with each other, especially with all of them being climate hazards in some way? I'm most interested in how far Capcom plans on taking the interactions between monsters, especially when we have stuff like Alatreon. There's also the potential of underwater combat (little bit of copium but most people are speculating this because Capcom has already stated it's something they wanted to do again and the reflection of the MH6 logo). This teaser has shown us what looks like desert goss harags lob small monsters out of the way, we have never seen any monster hunter game do this outside of very specifically scripted scenarios. I believe Capcom is trying to show us how far they plan on taking the scope of this game in comparison to other monster hunters and obv the graphics can be brushed up later (not that they need to though, the graphics have never been that important in MH games) Undoubtedly though World's "reveal" is better, but once Wild comes out with an actual trailer rather than what can be assumed is more akin to a teaser, I have zero doubts the MH team will blow it out of the park

MH was never known for its cutting edge graphics, World was an exception, in more ways than one. And let's not forget the sacrifices to get those visuals, the game couldn't hold 30 FPS to save its life on the PS4 and the maps were for the most part way more cramped and smaller than previous titles, Ancient Forest was a TERRIBLE map to fight anything in due to how cramped it was. And Wilds still looks amazing. When Rise and Sunbreak came out you could tell the real MH fans from the normies by how they reacted to the older gen graphics.

The point of a video game trailer is to show you what is interesting about the game. The setting, story, gameplay, or combination of those things. Given the popularity of World (and the title of the series I mean come on), I think a lot of people know what you’re gonna be doing in the game. World is showing the hunt being integrated into these seamless areas. Wilds is showing its deeper focus on the ecology and even grander environments. That being said, I don’t doubt most will consider World’s reveal to be better, considering it has more action and a stronger narrative. As a massive fan, I appreciate Wilds for showcasing a tiny snippet of makes it unique instead of what I already know.

I think the biggest difference between the World and Wilds trailer is that World was designed to find a new audience, and Wilds already has the audience's attention.

That’s a good point. Before world it was a very niche franchise with a small but dedicated fan base and then world blew that open and all the sudden it went from that to having mainstream levels of success and actually becoming the best selling capcom game ever. So that definitely makes sense. Now they know they have everyone’s attention already. I hadn’t thought of it that way but that was an excellent observation man

This is arguably far more impressive than world's debut. The graphics boost is not the same for sure. But it's got dozens of monsters running on screen, potentially over a half dozen large monsters, along with what looks like dynamic weather effects that both seem to cover the area and creatures in sand, and also effect hunts with lightning, both the player and monster. It was hard to believe it was monster hunter at first just because of how much was going on screen. This is beyond just getting a current gen coat of paint. We're actually getting a current gen boost of gameplay and scale, from map size, to the amount of monsters and map interaction with the weather.

It’s funny how Max is comparing a teaser to an actual trailer. From seeing this trailer besides the 2 weapons carry from you and the mount, it looks like we can actually control the mount like you can from MHRise and not only that it will be able to glide to other areas which might replace the glider mantle. One of the 2 big additions that I see is the massive amounts of monsters that you see in the area compared to World which can lead to the possibility of fighting like 4 or 5 monsters as a example. Granted World had that but on average you fight 2 monsters at once and rarely you get a third but even then the third monster doesn’t say long. The second big addition that I saw is the interactive weather that can change the fight in your favor or hinder you. Shit depending on the interactive weather the monsters could have boosted or even new moves.

World released in January of 2018, so i'm hoping for a Q1 release of Wilds, because when they drop the actual trailer for a monster hunter game, it usually comes out within a year of the trailer. So them showing it next summer might mean a January - March 2025 release date. At least I hope.

100% a open world. The Guiding lands was a test run at the end of iceborne. With the title and logo there will probably be 6 intersecting biomes with constant changing weather that will alter monster behavior so you will need to learn how to track them down.

I think the thing that interested me most about the trailer wasn't anything related to graphics fidelity, it's more to do with how many of one thing is active and responding to things at a single moment, kinda like how you had monster closets in Doom and Doom 2 then went to Quake and it had a *lot* less monsters.

As a MH Ecology nerd I cant even to begin to gush about actual herds, environmental adaptations, to deal with the storms and lightning, possibly an entirely monster category inbetween small and large monsters simply due to the Goss Harag style enemies hunting/running in a actual pack which is unheard of in the series. Usually it was just a large backed up by a pack of small monsters. Possibly a return of scoutflies and the slinger as well because the hunter has very similar gear on the arm and belt.

And then it hit me. the MH movie was all about the desert and Diablos, right. And it had that weird tower portal thing and the futuristic stuff. The logo with the weird cropcircle things and 2 snake/worm like dragons that are probably responsible for the dust storms helping the environment go to asbolute shit. We are getting new information about the old civilisation in this game, no doubt, and i am 100% here for it. Bring in the giant ruined cities filled to the brim with weird monsters, man. I'm loving this. My mind makes me think that this may not be a matter of WHERE we are as a region...but WHEN. Perhaps well before the Guild is even established all that well. Hunters being more free roaming, not under some organisation yet. Could be a sort of 'origin story' of sorts of the MH world as we know it now sort of thing which would be pretty nifty. Explains why you carry two weapons because you can't switch mid hunt like we can now. You don't have the same infrastructure we do in World/Rise where they can carry all your shit around for you or send a delivery upon request. You pack what you think you need and that is all you got, along with what you can make on the fly akin to classic MH style.

Some things that have been pointed out elsewhere. The area that's revealed as the dust/sand is blown away is the area that you where moving through. It's looks like shit because it's almost completely buried in dust/sand. The hunter has a Scoutfly Cage and Slinger... indicating either left from the new world, or sometime after World/Iceborn these started to become standard issue for the Guild. The other side of the mount from the LBG seems to be carrying a supply sack... some speculation this could mean the mount isn't just traversal but also a mobile mini-camp. The last two taken together could point towards this being a new First Fleet, or possibly even Guild Rangers scouting a new location. This would possibly lead to a much more free-roaming game rather than "Go to this map and hunt this/these monster(s) and come back." as there is no major base and camps set up because no-one has been here to set them up yet. Super early for such speculation... but oohhhh man that would be *CRAZY*!

the most comparable thing to this is MHW's announcement trailer showing off the ancient forest. no cats, no multiplayer, but this time also no large monsters. i'm totally convinced that these bears are like slagtoth or large popo in size but just more aggressive. maybe we get a bear drome for this map. more skeletons getting like pack leader monsters would be really cool and maybe we get a pack leader that's like actually threatening like can fight off or tie with a rathalos in a turf war. the thing changing the landscape at the end is the sand storm ending and clearing away to reveal the grassy savanna. maybe maps will have like 3 states, 2 different things entirely instead of part of the map being 1 thing and other zones being the other. like if sometimes it's sandy, other times it's the grassy savanna, and each time it switches there is a moving storm in between facilitate the shift every so often. it may be regular intervals or some quests could say its locked to one of them for the whole thing, or other quests it switches more often when things are more chaotic.
