    Hunting horn is supposed to be played aggressively. Even playing songs should e used for attacking.

    Exactly. If you're using the hunting horn and aren't in the thick of the fight smashing the monster's head in, you aren't doing it right. People say it's a support weapon, but it's more like "a weapon with support". Stay in the monster's face and attack aggressively while tossing out songs as needed. Keep the buffs up, but don't rely ONLY on the buffs

    yeah definitley, playing the songs are supposed to be an aggressive attack. They really bringing that point forward in Rises gamepley here. so excited to play some more DOOOTS

    @@q-miiproductions878 His wording relates to a common misconception about the hunting horn, that the weapon is just for buffs. True, rise has added a lot of new attack moves to the hunting horn, but when compared to world, it's really not much more aggressive, just aggressive in a different way. The hunting horn has always been an aggressive weapon along side its ability to buff, it merely had a simple moveset, much like the sword and shield. Games like Generations Ultimate and World really added to the weapon's attacking capabilities, by making the song performances either quick attacks (in GU) or strong slow attacks (like in World). I personally just always find it strange when people talk about the hunting horn like it does nothing but buff, while it's one of the best weapons to use, thanks to it's KO, exhaust capabilities, long reach and fast walk speed.

    @@yakov9903 It...is though. Corner Horners are looked down on for a reason, you're supposed to apply and reapply your buffs BY attacking. The misconception that the HH is mainly a support weapon is mostly wrong except for a specific build, which the SNS and LBG do better anyways. It's not the healer, it's the battlemage of MH, always has been.

    tbf, from what Capcom posted, it seems like we get buffs off of every note now, instead of having to set notes into songs for Recital so now we get to be in the monsters face all the time without worrying about setting(am worried we might lose Default Song and the speed and immune to bounce it comes with though...)

    keep in mind that this isn't everything about the weapons, I do think in the end IG will be sidelined compared to the past because now every weapon has verticality but since even the folks at Capcom said to not be worried about IG I'd wait at least until the Demo before writing it off.

    Silkbind Vault gives us back the forward vault from Aerial Style, which is a superior gap closer compared to what we have now in Iceborne, and Recall Kinsect is basically the Absolute Readiness Art, but regenerates HP and Kinsect stamina instead of sharpness. Recall Kinsect also triggers the Kinsect drill attack when it returns to you, like Descending Thrust in Iceborne. Hunting Horn's "new" hype moves are simply longer versions of the Valor and Invigoration recital animations from Generations Ultimate, but somehow they get to be called "new" and "a complete rework" for some reason, yet Insect Glaive getting improved versions of moves from Generations gets called "done dirty".

    ​@@william_sun I agree, Silkbind Vault seems awesome, and it's even better than the MHGU Aerial Vault in that you can use pretty much anytime you want (including in the air). Not to mention it refreshes your air combos, so you could use it at the tail end of a chain of Jumping Slashes > Silkbind Vault > start a *completely* new Jumping Slash chain. They pretty much more than doubled your possible air time, further solidifying IG as the king of the sky. Then Recall Kinsect: a super-evade (with I-Frames) that comes with a free green Kinsect heal, max Kinsect stamina, *AND* the drill attack, like you mentioned. I honestly couldn't be happier as an IG main. We get a ton of new utility on a weapon that was already *heavily* reworked in MHW / Iceborne. I don't blame people for not seeing it (I think Capcom could've done better at presenting it) but I find it really funny that Max was like "whoa, SUPER mechanical buff on Charge Blade", but didn't see the same thing with IG.

    @@Xelemend9393 actually with Iceborne HH players have jumped from 1% all the way up to 3% with the rework I could see us going up to 5~6% easy (note, all the other weapons generally float between 5~8% of the playerbase, with LS always way out ahead with a staggering 20%+, Bow getting 12~15%, and CB and GS always being ahead of the "normal" numbers sitting in the 8~10% range)

    I'm glad to see my horn bros, but we've been looking to replenish our numbers since the dawn of time. I would love more but every game, the "complexity" of the horn overwhelms people, especially when unga bunga is a preferred playstyle for newbies.

    I'm actually really looking forward to the Hunting Horn. I started playing it in Iceborne yesterday simply because of the Rise showcase for it. Hammer is still my favorite though.

    14:38 A lot of comments from this weapon video were on about this line the hunter says. "Mr. monster, meet Mr. weapon!" Also Switch Axe is my main forever.

    Remember guys they didn't showcase all of the weapons moves, in previous trailers we saw Lance do multiple 180 stingers and switchaxe doing a flying divebomb ZSD

    And we saw the IG doing a falling thrust… oh wait, that move was introduced in Iceborne and was available ALL THE TIME with NO COST and now is locked behind a cooldown. And no, that move wasn't broken, the IG already struggled in dealing damage with said move being free as shown with the weapon class being at the 13th place of the speedrun charts, so it didn't need to be "balanced". Not to mention that the wirebug version of the move seems to not have a follow up and combo potential like the FREE version of Iceborne. The IG got shafted.

    @@andrako748 its not lock and its not a silkbind moves, the wirebug give more variety of moves other than spamming same move in the ground , wirebug gives a versatile ways on how we use weapon either ground and on air. They're jusy introducing the silkbind moves that more like hunter arts in mhgu which use the 2 wire bugs unlike other one per wbug moves

    I mean, that's how you correctly build hype (unlike some game). They show you stuff that satisfies that quench but not too much and you still get a lot more in the actual game. And what's more, it's CAPCOM. They still hide thousands of hidden mechanics in the actual game too. In the end, we're all satisfied.

    @@fabianakbarnugraha4369 Yep, even without the DMC reference at the end I'd mention how Vergil had very little for a long time. They showed less than 10 seconds of him being played at TGS which only had one new move that wasn't easy to understand based on what we saw. It goes without saying one week after him being out on all systems that he got a lot more than one move and wasn't limited to his boss moveset. (Not to mention how his campaign ends) Capcom aren't perfect and I think they should work with the fans more, but they tend to have more than we expect for these series.

    @@thelastgogeta absolutely. But the problem with CAPCOM is that they're a Japanese company. They have very strict policies and aren't usually that active with communities. CAPCOM has a very moderate connection with the fanbase (I'd say still a lot more connection than most companies), but they're still very strict and by the book. Heck, they go on a little tantrum because people modded Vergil in PC and actually gave them Vergil, but ONLY Vergil. Console still got LDK and Turbo and PC players got less cuz Capcom got a lil pissy that the community is a bit more creative than they expect. Hope that doesn't happen with the MH franchise. The only bad thing with MH so far is that PC players have to wait a bit longer than console player.

    Judging by Max's reaction to the gear, it seems he finally noticed the blandness of MHW sets. And the HH was never a defencive buff weapon. ANyone who plays that way is bad.

    Tbh, I liked MHW for its mix of sets without being too disjointed visually, where as rise seems bizarre with its Asian themed world but then some gear looks like a friggin space weapon and armor, or the lance looks like a western knight, it's all over the place and obvious downgrade in visual fidelity on switch makes alot of that weird stuff look a little extra ugly because the lighting and stuff isnt there to make it atleast seem like it belongs.

    @@tehtayziez The series has never been about the raw visual power, but rather the design. And strange design is par for the course. You wanna dress in a mankini, a dumb hat and beat enemies over the head with a fish, pizza slicer or fondou fountain? Go ahead. Absurdity is par for the course.

    In a game where you can use a giant teddy bear as a weapon, I always assume the gear designs are gonna be wack and over the top. That's what I love about the designs. So seeing World downgraded the wackiness actually saddens me a bit. Although, I think it's trying to appeal to the mainstream media with more grounded designs, and it actually worked. More hunters are coming in, and I hope the wacky designs of Rise aren't gonna drive them away.

    The answer is, of course, and has always been, The one you want to use the most. For me it's like, 5 of them, in order, Charge Blade, Gunlance, Long Sword, Dual Blades, and finally learn Hunting Horn.

    the hardest part of this game is deciding which weapons to not use because there is just not enough time. it's really hard to believe that this game has fourteen weapons and they're all unique and fun and interesting.

    Indeed, they seem to have totally reworked the weapon, which is probably a very good thing in the long run - I will miss the wacky attack animations, but practically speaking they were a big part of why it didn't see much use in past games.

    new in regards to MHW HH. What looked to be the recitals seem to have been lifted from Adept and Valor HH, which were before MHW. Hopefully we keep this whenever MH6 comes around instead of it just being a Rise thing though, as that's already a massive improvement

    Being a fan of Monster hunter titles on the switch and portable consoles, I was worried Rise would end up looking like World on low settings, but it seems to have a more nintendo console-friendly artstyle so I hope it ends up running well.

    If there ever was a moment for MH to go back to its goofier, more outlandish cartoony designs, it was for this one when it actually makes sense on a technical point as well as visual. Theyre making it a point to show us all the awesome wep/arm designs up front as if to say "Dont worry, we heard you".

    @@Z50nemesis You can make an argument that the more cartoony artstyle is to appeal to japanese audiences but also that its easier to handle for less poweful systems. World was more realistic to appeal to the west but also because the hardware could handle. We can't know which one they like doing more

I've been playing since Tri, and looking back I've noticed that the Main team(World's devs) usually go for a more grounded or natural aesthetic. Meanwhile the Portable team(Rise's devs) like to go for a more colorful and stylish look.

    I don't think classic MH artstyle means "nintendo console friendly artstyle". If you are referring to the armor and weapon designs, this is the artstyle long before world. In fact, only the weapon designs in world deviated from the norm in MH.

    Hunting horn has always been more than a buff weapon, I would say it's kinda similar to charge blade in that you're supposed to get in and be aggressive, but at the same time manage song inputs as well as find openings to play/encore them as part of your combo

    Yeah, good HH players are an incredible asset to the team, as they don't sit back and whack ground and air to buff people, but whack the monster to do so and deal not a trivial amount of damage >:D

    Something the Glaive video does a awful job at portraying is what the site explains: -Vault seems to imply that it RESETS your air mobility limit, making you stay longer in the air if you have the stamina. *"Je Suis Monte" intensifies* -Recall Kinsect is both a healing move but also a full on dodge. It's a Panic Button for Glaive basically. The move's name just sucks.

    @@bryguy2049 Why do you say that like if that was a good thing? It's NOT, they literally locked a normal move available ALL THE TIME with NO COSTS behind a cooldown, and not that move wasn't broken, the weapon already struggled in dealing damage without a cooldown so there's no reason for it to be locked now. Also even if the MVs of the move are now buffed it wouldn't compensate it being locked behind a cooldown because it doesn't have a follow up and no combo potential like the normal move in Iceborne.

    If you look closer, The Hunting Horn actually is using older moves from MH Generation's Style system. The Breakdance is actually from Adept' Style's dodge and it has Valor Style stuff too. Has Max ever seen Monster Hunter 4 Generations on Switch? Watching a video of it's style system could demonstrate where most stuff got overhauled, revamped, or straight up brought over.

    All that gear looks so cool because World and Iceborne were the only MH games to have crappy “bits on sticks” weapon design. Every single other MH game had unique designs for all the weapons, and they’re thankfully bringing that back for good now, it seems/

    This far into the game and people still think the stick designs were intentional, their was like 3 guys working on the weapons in total because they didnt have a the biggest budget in the "world" , not knowing how well it would do bieng the first game with current gen graphics over the pixel graphics that were much easier to do, they wanted to prioratize armor / monsters / locals, weapons just ended up with the short end of the "stick" which is why some weapons still had bones with a feath slapped on it regardless of the mosnter it came from, monsters that already had a weapon design like glavenus, they had to cut somehwere to save time and resources on the first game. If Monster hunter world 2 has basic weapons as well tho, then we riot

    @@bang1054 In the Capcom leaks all the documents talking about the next big MH game in ALL OF THEM is listed ad MH6, not MHW2. MHW was called World because its focus in a live breathing World like Rise that is being called like that due to its focus in vertical gameplay. And the MH devs always try something different each game so their focus for their next game won't be a living breathing world again. The next MH game is NOT MHW2, IS MH6.

    @@jacktheomnithere2127 I always use either or, para and sleep are for when I have a party at my side, elemental and poison for solo. I never use raw mainly because I delegate raw to greatsword usage.

    One thing worth keeping in mind is that they only show of two Silkbind attacks per weapon in these trailers, but from the gameplay we've seen there is a third for each, so they could be holding back some really neat stuff for the weapons that seem underwhelming so far. I'd wait until the demo comes out before committing to any one thing. Personally I'm still probably going to main Switch Axe with a side of Bow and Longsword, but these demos have definitely got me more interested in some of the weapons I've enjoyed but never put much time into like Hammer and Hunting Horn.

    Well the very first trailer for MH Rise showed a wirebug skill for the IG that is a falling thrust... but said move was introduced in Iceborne and was available ALL THE TIME with no COSTS instead of being locked behind a cooldown. And no, said move wasn't broken, the IG already was one of the worst weapons in regards of DPS when the move was free for it to be "balanced" now. Even if the MVs of the wirebug version are buffed it seems that it doesn't have the follow up and combo potential of the free version from Iceborne so is still worse. And I don't think there's more than 4 wirebug skill since the devs already said that you will have access to all of them instead of selecting them like the Hunter Arts in Generations, so there has to be maximum of them because you run out of bottoms to perform them.

    I've been Hammer since MHW Original so I'll be continuing Hammer in Rise and really some quality of life for not having to be near a ledge or slant to bounce off to roll on the monster. Its so satisfying to play Hammer. Glad you are trying it out Max!

    As a HH main, the design finally looks like it makes sense because the weapon was always aggressive, if you play passively you're doing it wrong. Now it's faster with more hits so it really is the support weapon because you don't just buff, you also get loads of KO and status procs with all the hits so it actually let's you stay in the monster's face and constantly stunning and debiffing the monster for your team, hopefully that ring is the recital and you don't have the long animation anymore that makes people scared to play aggressive.

    @@TaurusOxford PC port is nice for posterity but we already have World on PC. The most exciting aspect of this game is being on a hybrid handheld system. But it’s looking mighty fine as is. I don’t think a Switch Pro is needed. It would be nice, but the game looks great as is.

    I’ve been a charge blade main since 4U, and while I’m still going to use it most likely on my second character, I’m going to focus on using bow. Switch axe and gun lance will be my fallback weapons if I hit a wall. I’m very excited for this game though and I’m glad to see so many new people hopping onto the Monster hunter train!

    They new guys are mostly based off of various Yokai monsters. Tetranodon is based on the Kappa, a turtle-boy creature with a divot in his head. Aknosom is a One-Eyed Parasol Rakna-Kadaki (the spider) is a Jorogūmo Izuchi are Kamaitachi, or scythe-weasels etc. Even Zinogre and Odogaron are Yokai. Zinogre is a Raijin, and Odogaron is ALSO a Kamaitachi.

    I love how Capcom is trying to get people away from being the Virgin Corner Kazoo and become the Chad Headlock Orchestra. HH gonna be a lot of fun. Also, the IG user was wearing Khezu armor and the HH user had on Basarios armor.

    World nerfed all of its main attacks, meaning that like 70% of your damage came from recitals, whereas in all the older games, recitals were good for damage but not completely necessary to hit with. A lot of Fivers figured it has to be like support weapons from other games, awful at damage but good at supporting, when really HH was traditionally great for damage, and good for support. Here’s hoping people get the memo this time D:

    @@Aquatj999 totally, back as far as MHF2/U I've always kept a HH build on backup for when I wanted to go for those knock-outs. It felt more like an evolution to just basic hammer. World seemed to take a step back and felt like it was being told they need to have *one weapon* for the support guy to use. I hope they gave it's base attacks an oomph so it's not just about how many recitals you can fit in a burst window

    The complete redesign of Hunting Horn to actually be a fast swinging weapon with capoeira break-dance fighting moves while swinging a heavy metal bass guitar... I never thought I'd say this, but the Hunting Horn looks most interesting out of all of the weapons. Considering it's been completely redesigned it's probably going to be the closest thing to a new weapon, too. [Also HH is best used in a max size group and the easiest time to find a group is just after release since that's when the player base is at maximum. Kind of an incentive to give HH a try early on.]

    I've never been more disappointed after seeing glaive... With so much potential why Capcom... Still want the game tho looking awesome I'll go with bow my secondary main weapon (unless they actually just buff glaive a lot so it's aerial game play is actually reliable and satisfying).

    What would be cool for HH is if they made the advanced combos rhythm based, and you get that super flippy dippy combo if you do it perfectly. On side notes, super excited for Charge Blade permanent Savage Axe (if that comes back), and sad that Insect glaive didn't get something that stopped it from doing its chores

    While it would be awesome to make HH more mechanically challenging to master, it wouldn't help with what they are clearly attempting with these buffs, which is make the weapon more popular. A lot of people are scared of it's complexity as it is.

    Icebourne finally made longsword click for me, and not it's my most played weapon, excited to see the changed they made. They also made hbg and lbg look spicy. All I can pray for is that these silk bind abilities are just the "starter" ones and we unlock more as we go, ala the arts style.

    We've seen 3 for a couple weapons, with the ones off the top of my head being Gunlance (had a lunging sweep) and IG, which had a downward thrust in the air, so we're getting at least 3 per weapon

    I can't wait to play the Swaxe and Hunting Horn in this game! I'm probably gonna be messing with the horn first.

    That counter with heavy bowgun in like a scatter shot build could be really fun

    I plan to pick up SnS for the first ever since I started playing MH. Going all the way back to the early days, I've just never really vibed with the SnS. But it looks really cool in Rise with extra mobility options you have. Also worth mentioning I skipped out on the Generations games but I know SnS supposedly had a bunch of neat stuff in that.

    Great Sword was always one I've been interested in but never found the drive to play because of how limited it was. Now in Rise....being able to move around like that makes me feel a very...interesting sensation

    The hunting horn has a few mechanical changes and completely changed performance. The hunting horn is able to chain performances in quick succession (the bulk of the damage) The hunting horn also has attack canceling now
