The task for today is simple: let's connect a brand new Matek VTX-1G3 1.2GHz video transmitter to the power meter and check how much RF power it produces. And of course, let's check if this thing works at all :)

Yeah I'm a Matek fanboy for all my wing . Never an issue.
Would love to see you do a video on using it with crossfire to prove or disprove that they are or aren’t compatible this would probably help a lot of people
Thank you for these tests! I am extremely excited for some new 1.3 gear finally!
Pretty impressive, Pawel! 😃 Thanks a lot for testing it!
I'm really excited for this one!
So glad Matek is bringing this out. Appears to be a quality piece of equipment. Excited to see an air test when the opportunity comes.
Cant wait to order mine, thanks for doing such awesome reviews on the product. Really looking forward to the FPV flight. Don't forget your notch filter ;)
definitely going to get this for a long range sailplane setup. very nice. thanks.
This is great news, thank you for testing this PS
Do you think I could use this reliably with my R9M system? Thx for posting!
Can you say what is the material that is used with receiver .I have to buy
Can we use the equipment that you used for the live view through the wireless camera
Any issue/interference with R9M 915mhz radio? I am not an expert at radio stuff but I know they have low loads filters one can buy but some transmitters have filters on them. Have you had any issues with 915? I also run RFD900X's
Hello and thank you for posting this. I have been a long time Matek user and hands down always trust their gear. More than anything, their support is solid! Have you done any further testing with this? Any actual flight/range tests? I'm considering purchasing it.
I really can't wait until they announce the price
Re legality: AFAIK 1.2G fpv band is not open for unlicensed use anywhere in the world. However, some of the 1.2GHz channels are in the 23cm ham band. With a suffient ham license you should be able to use it in any country, which has reciprocity agreements with the country where you are licensed. In Poland you will need a category 1 license (higher class), but in US technician license (lowest class) is sufficient. Anyone with EE background should be able to pass the exams after spending just a bit of time on getting familiar with regulations. Using the vtx without a license is just a matter of luck. If you don't step on anybody's toe, you should be fine. However, with a bit of bad luck you may end up with equipment seized by the authorities and a fine to pay.
Nice job Matek.
Pawel, does your power meter work with 5.8gHz transmitters, especially at the upper end near 6gHz? The specs are typically Chinese ambiguous, Advertising says 1-8gHz, the specs state it measures up to 5gHz... I hope they release a lower power version of the transmitter. I get 30kM with 150mW and nothing onboard gets interfered with, for me 1 Watt is just a waste of energy at 1.2gHz, and will cause more problems with GPS, servo's and some FC's. Power control would be too much to hope for.
What is the reason that we use 5.8 over lower frequencies then? Cheaper transmitters? Higher bandwidth? Less restrictions? Smaller antennas? If you had the ham license required and so on is there any good reason to use 5.8 over this?
Channels/frequencies?
Doubt if this is legal to use in the UK, is it in Europe?
Any idea on pricing or a release date yet? Do you have any idea if they would ever make a 1.2/3g diversity goggle module? I’m not sure if the hardware size can support it but, that would be awesome.
Thank you for that Pawel, but please please, put this thing now on a wing and fly out some long range distance, like 15+km...Do you have also some CP 1.2/3 antennas to compare?
Looks great. Do you know if it'll be available this year?

Should release mid November, close to November 25th
I saw a post in TeamBlack sheep about 1.2Ghz vtx which is why I searched youtube and found your video. When I started fpv 1.5 years ago, what I only know about vtx is 5.8Ghz. Is there advantage of using 5.8ghz vs the 1.2Ghz? It looks like 1.2Ghz is really good for piercing walls.
He pawel, i got a dockking and a 1G3Vrx matek one, but the matek has 10 pins and the dockking only 9 holes, how do i overcome this?

really? Just plugged one into the other and it worked. Maybe by accident? I wil have to count the pins

Well Pawel, now that comes out I buy it. But you have to study how to do with iNAV to mount a FPV Ground Station. If you succeed in this you have solved many problems that free us from buying very expensive components. Great Matek!!!

No need for ground station just put module in you fat sharks.
Pure insanity. That should be enough for 50+km

Do low ghz rather than 3.8 have better range?
@christopherstarzyk9209
4 жыл бұрын
Yes 1.2 is better than 5.8. Since its putting out more than 600mw, that is more than enough for some serious long range flights, especially if you use a high gain ground antenna.

Low frequency = Long range, it's why 5.8g is so terrible.
Have you got any idea if they will be releasing a 2.4ghz vtx. That plays nicely with crossfire.
@EnglishTurbines
4 жыл бұрын
Why..?.. you can use 1.2g alongside 868mhz or 915mhz...I do, no problem...2.4g will be inferior and als prone to RC transmitter interference.
@51im
4 жыл бұрын
@@EnglishTurbines I've read that 1.2g alongside 900mhz can cause issues. How true that is I've no idea. 2.4 tx interference is not a problem. We are all on xfire. Also the l.2g antennas are ridiculously large.
@EnglishTurbines

@@51im You need to do some homework...I fly UHF alongside 1280mhz video...I fly R9M system on 868mhz alongside 1280mhz video...No problems whatsoever, no RF filters, just a little antenna separation...I even have it on a 5 inch quad....1.2g antennas are not huge, in fact smaller than your crossfire Rx antenna (it's a Dipole)...I only need a Dipole on my vtx, NOT those rediculous Skews...Not needed on such a low frequency....200mw....8kms, no problem, clear image and no flying on the edge of space either. Golden Rule, your video frequency should always be higher than your control frequency.
@51im

@@EnglishTurbines Yeah I suppose dipole is the way to go. I've had 5k on 5.8g at 200mw. But I've already got a 2.4g diversity Rx that I'd like to make use of. Anyway why not have the option of 2.4g. more choice is more better.😆
@EnglishTurbines

Doubtful, it's not popular as a video frequency, it also lacks the range of 1.2g. 2.4g video has been around ages, Immersion do one, never caught on really.
Yes, yes, yes...
It would be great if one could find a stockist who has it....
do the range test already
I'd love to fly 1.2ghz
Guess analog video really isn't going anywhere. You are not getting the same range as 1.3ghz using the DJI system....Crossfire and 1.3ghz ftw..
1.2g....So much more sensible than insane 5.8g...I stopped using 5.8g...I wish you had zoomed in on that vtx frequency list...😒😒😒
