A side by side comparison of the $22 Partom rx Vs the RMRC $55 rx. Flight was using the Mini Talon (full setup below). Although the Pepperbox isn't a receiver, I added my pepperbox feed in the comparison just so you can see how well the directional antennas works compared to an omni. The Pepeprbox is hooked up to a RMRC rx.

    Hey mate great video, do you think the RMRC is worth the extra $$, it's more then double the price shipped to my country so I was thinking the Partom and use the money I saved on a good antenna.

    @@MrTwojaythomo Thanks :) It's hard to say if the RMRC is worth the extra money, it depends what your goals are and what your budge is. However, I can tell you I happily use the Partom on my GS now for the omni antenna. And you can see from this video, there isn't a huge difference in performance. Hope this helps

    Great video! I'm still on 5.8g with a crosshair on goggles, which can do fuzzy 10km on a good day. This test makes me think it may be possible to get reliable 10km LOS video range using 1.3g Singularity omnis on both ends, still goggle-only to avoid a GS. So I've ordered the newly released Matek V2 VRX goggle module to try this, along with lowpass and 1.3/2.4 notch, in the hopes I can maintain most of my FrSky L9R range. If I can't get everything to play nice, I guess a GS will be necessary.

    I've tried two of the common combos now and one RMRC transmitter. Waiting on an RMRC receiver to see if the SAW filter makes a big difference... but I've been using them on an RC FPV car without much luck. I got everything looking really good in a very small area like maybe 50 ft radius but in any arrangement I try about 100ft is my max range before video gets too bad, maybe 200ft pure LOS. I don't think I could do something like a circle a McDonalds building while parked in the lot for example. From what I can tell at this point given the antennas I've tried, going a couple feet higher with a larger patch antenna mounted on a tripod is not going to improve it so much that I can actually get anything close to some of the setups I've seen on youtube. I'm hoping that little difference in the RMRC being able to maintain a proper signal will give me more range. Guys who fly seem to typically just point out that 1.3 will have decent penetration but won't provide actual long range at ground level. Yet some guys on youtube can drive around an entire neighborhood on 1.3. I went out to a parking lot the other day and mounted my crosshair xtreme v2 on a tripod and put in on the roof of my truck using the amazon/ebay transmitter and receiver and got about 75 ft LOS before the video got to the point there I knew it would go out at another 50 feet or so. So I get the impression either I've done something wrong in all the 4-5 iterations I've tried, or my receivers and FPV monitor are just not able to keep a presentable signal as well as one I haven't tried yet.. which I guess would translate to being able to actually get much farther distance, but out past 100ft or so and out of LOS it become such a horrible picture that navigating back home safely might become difficult.

  • @Magneticitist

    @Magneticitist

    11 ай бұрын

    @@flat-earther Yea actually and it was a little complicated because it had to do with the VTX's I was using. I had much better range when using an RMRC tx/rx and TrueRC singularity antennas. The other VTX's I tried were burning up because the internal sink was not meeting up with the external one properly. They would work for a little while then burn up. The RMRC doesn't have this problem. The Partom units were seemingly the next most consistent but they were also outputting less RF power. So for example I had a few that would start off pulling maybe 700-800mA. Over time they would only pull maybe half that.

    Hi there, I'd really appreciate some advice: ive bought a singularity V2 and plan to install it on my partom receiver. In the air I'd like to install a EM Vee true rc antennae. Will this work? Further, my Partom receiver arrived with a SMA connector that seems to be abnormally large. It does not even fit the provided antennaes. I assume its a standard female sma plug. Which additional connector should I get such I can connect the singularity antennae? Thanks in advance!

    With antennas you just need to make sure they match in polarisation and they will work. If circular then make sure they match in direction (right or left). Not sure about the sma tou received

    How far from the two receivers were you positioned with your DL v3 Tx? The issue I always had with the cheap Phartom Rx was that it got totally thrashed by my 433Mhz LRS Tx if it was anywhere near the ground station. I fly with a pepper box standing or sitting close to the ground station so I can turn the Pepperbox as I fly. The original Racewood Rx does the best in this regard, the RMRC Rx a little worse, and the Phartom Rxs are unusable for me. I'll throw em in the trash if they come with a VTX. Also any VRX without the narrower bandwidth SAW filter will get thrashed pretty hard by other folks flying on other 0.9-1.3Ghz channels.

  • @AdamGdoesFPV

    @AdamGdoesFPV

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey, in searching for a comparison of these two receivers aI came across a few people demoing this exact issue you mention with the Partom suffering with proximity to the DL tx. In my test I was mostly wearing my Skyzone goggles and they have a 1m cord, so I was within 1m of both receivers for most of this flight. The Partom didn't seem to be reacting to this proximity though. Interesting to hear about the Racewood, not tried one of these before, but then again I never have any issues with my RMRC rx's. I nearly threw my Partom Rx's in the trash a while back, only purchased them because it used to be the cheapest way to buy the Partom Vtx (as a set). Good point about the bandwidth too, so anyone reading this should consider installing the saw filter or not buying Partom if they plan to fly with friends also flying 1.3g. Thanks for watching and for your comment :) I have 6 'Featured Channels' on my YT homepage (they've been there for years) and yours is one of those 6 :D
