Thanks for the enjoyable video with off roading in the lovely New Zealand countryside. Two questions if I may. 1. Is Mata School 4x4 a place that teaches and then practices off roading or it simply a club? and 2. Would all vehicles have bash plates for those river crossings? Thanks matey.

hi there, Mata is a place, small rural community on the east coast of the north island of NZ. The school is a public school for the children of the area. they run a 4wd trek in the surrounding area to help fund raise for extra curricular activities and school equipment. as for the river crossings, maybe some people have fitted bash plates, some of the patrols might have the factory fitted ones but would doubt it. pays to be gentle with the truck in the rocky rivers.

Thanks for explaining mate. I'm in the throws of enrolling in a 4x4 club myself, to practice off road gear and skills, thus the enquiry.

Thats the best thing to do, get in touch with a club, im sure they will advise you on their equipment requirements and truck requirements. It will be simple things initially like First aid Kits, Fire extinguishers. Recovery gear like snatch straps, tree protectors and shackles. Best of luck out there!!
