Land Rover V8 109 Drive Round

Seems there's a sort of a bit of a competition or something, maybe a friendly rivalry, with fellow land rover owners on KZread to having the nicest sounding rover v8. Heres a little bit more of my Land Rover 109 V8. was recorded a while ago but i never uploaded until i had a couple of requests for more and that some people started posting video responses. do enjoy.

@Mongoswede this truck was running the standard 3.5 v8 rover, with the restriction plates removed from under the carburetors

hello, just removed the middle silencer, the biggest one of the 2 factory ones and replaced that section with a straight pipe. still has the small muffler at the back to help make some back pressure to the motor. cheers!!

@RollingInLandys hey mate, not too sure, i managed to score the army service history with it when i bought it unlike most the others around and going through it all, has heaps of new, genuine parts, but most notable was the rebuilt motor installed. it was rebuilt by summit engineering in rotorua i think the plaque on the motor says, so not too sure on the cost, must have been army preventative maintainance. cheers!!

@mikeMBW hey, not really, removed the factory restrictor plates that were under each carb and have the exhaust mod and thats it. the motor only has about 20,000kms on it since it was fully rebuilt. cheers!

I know, making Phase III XY GT's look slow. That was in the valiant. The 109 only weighs 2/3rds what the charger weighs. I can't wait to get this beast rebuilt. A Mopar Landy... as for what the 5spd is, I'm not sure, I'll post a vid after I extract her from the jungle's clutches and clean it up so I can see what I've got.

@feckdrinkgirls hahaha yeah no worries. i actually swapped this land rover for my old mans mini hahaha but i still get to see it every now and again. my old man is a bit of a Chrysler nut, he had a few valiants, so am sure he would be keen to see your one in action!!

@mutto82 hey, i scored them at a neat little place called Landy Heaven in hawkes bay quite a long time ago. i dont even know if the business is still going. basically they were wreaking landrovers of all vintages right from series 1's to japanese import discovery's and range rovers. with any luck they might have some but they are quite rare.

@garynz345 Sounds legendary! Hope to get a hold of an ex-army 109 in the future. Would love a 110 but they're WAY too dear!

@garynz345 looking forward to your 3.5L V8 vs my 4.3L 6 in a friendly grumble-off. There's a LOT of bodywork between me and a roadworthy, but I'd say she'll be running around cane farms long before she's street legal again. I've got crap video, but pretty decent audio recording gear. I'll figure something out.

@feckdrinkgirls hey mate, yeah these 109 v8's use pretty well much the classic range rover running gear. that sounds like a pretty good setup you got there, do you know what the 5sp is out of?? might be the later range rovers possibly. there is nothing wrong with the 265 hemi's, look what they were doing round bathurst with the v8's hahahaha!!

Sounds tough as a boot. What is that, just standard running gear, four speed? I just rescued a 109 safari from the jungle near Cairns and found it's got a Hemi 265 in it, and a five speed. Looking forward to bringing a dirty big six to the 8 party and pissing in the punch ;) Just kidding, mad landy, dude.
