my 1956 series 1 (with '76 v8) used to scare the boy racers, but now it has a twin box transit diesel exhaust it sounds crap, like you say- break out the hacksaw- remove a box.

Quality!! I have a 3.9 efi Rangie and no silencers at the mo for off roading. About to put a Stateside cherry bomb on to take the sharpness out. Awesome!!

My Brothers series 3 with a 2.0 Turbo lifted from a Tickford used to scare 3 and 5 series drivers :D we were guessin around 220hp at the wheels as the halfshafts snapped on more than one occasion :D Would pop a wheelie when pulling away from a junction

@mikeMBW hey there, it was something that the army had hooked up with their electrical system, bassically it comes on when you turn the key ignition on or if you stall the motor, so i would say that was the main idea behind it, to let you kn ow when you stall. cheers!!!

the british army was a tum, wolf.my 300 tid was too loud with straight pipe so now got small sports pipe on middle from deemon tweeks race and rally.wrexham,still loud,rgr removed decat with defender front pipe fitted

u can buy centre silencer delete pipes, theyre advertised in landrover owner magazine, might be janspeed, they look to have just a slight curve at both ends.

It's nice to see someone rev an engine slowly, and not rev the pants off it. Sounds hefty.

Was the pipe made for you 109, or was it just a pipe, that you fittet where the mid silencer was?

it was something i fabricated to fit where the middle silencer goes. just bolts up between the two flanges either end, its about 1200mm long from memory, i cant tell you for sure was a while back now and i dont have the truck any more either sorry.

hey mate, I sold it to my old man then he sold to a couple young guys from down Christchurch way in NZ here

yeah removed the middle (biggest silencer) then replaced with a straight pipe. apparently they can sound even better with the likes of a Coby or a Cherry Bomb muffler setup.

@MrRavewolf hey, i would be looking for a land rover defender, they are better ridding and just as capable as a series river but coil sprung and available in diesel and petrol, short or long wheel base, you should be able to find one to suit your needs.

im looking for a land rover, but i wanted one that is OK on the road aswell as off road, as in, not a back breaking ride, and not to noisy at high speeds. do you know one like that?

It doesnt look as tho you have a back box?? Im sure that Rover has a cherry centre box and thats all,, Thats what im doing but keeping standard centre box, cherrybomb way to loud in the cab!

the viscous hub and fan, also these army variants were set up with duel vee belt setups for water pump and alternators
