    That is something I should’ve mentioned in the video… Mr Lyell has been nothing but helpful and responsive to anything I’ve needed. I’ve told others that once MPA figures out they not only build great guns… but have stellar service… they’re gonna have the problem of excessive demand (which is a problem I would never mind having 😂) Still have it on my bucket list to visit y’all for a match at T-Minus!

    As far as performance no. For me, a heavier gun “feels” nicer… but I have enough time on the gun to where I would probably not get an advantage. However, I’m always curious to see what the data says and could perhaps be a video one day!

    @TheGentlemanGunner thanks for the response! I agree about the heavier guns generally having a perceived quality. But it doesn't look like the MPA needs any help returning to zero with the AL grip! I'm now in my indoor match season so tranitions are more important. I might just do an AL grip.

    @TheGentlemanGunner Since it’s been a while now, how are your splits and scores with the DS9 compared to the Shadow 2? Thanks

  • @TheGentlemanGunner

    @TheGentlemanGunner

    5 ай бұрын

    I rarely practice splits lol… but I can split the s2 a little faster with .13 and the occasional .11… more like .15 - .17 on the DS9. I recently hopped back on my S2s… I find the platform is a little more forgiving in my hits in general… but for the most part… my scores improved… but not because of platform… but because of time and practice. Tbh, you can’t throw enough money at a gun to buy an advantage… but you can buy comfort… and comfort creates confidence.

  • @TheGentlemanGunner

    No, it tends to eject cases directly to the right. An extreme example is if you look at open guns… specifically Infinity’s optic mount… it covers the top side of the ejection port completely.

    Have you ever experienced any slide lock issues? I picked up my DS9 Friday. I shot 250 rounds and everything g was perfect. Went back to the range last night and put 300 rounds through it and the slide only locked back 2 times out of the 20+ times I loaded my magazines at different capacities. I saw on a forum that there is an updated slide stop that is made with less material that resolves this issue, but I’m not sure if that was a Gen 1 issue or not. I ran all 7 of my magazines and every one of them failed, so it’s not an individual magazine issue.

    If you’re using the IDPA Mags (which should goto slide lock on empty)… I have had it a handful of times have it not go into slide lock. For me, it was a cleaning related issue but I have had some MBX mags sometimes have “excess plastic” hanging off the edges and so I lightly sand all my followers and that cleans things up. However, I’ve never had it related to the actual slide lock itself on the gun. If you can’t solve it, reach out to them and they’ll take care of you!

    Was a direct fit or did you have to have any extra work done for it to be compatible? Also, what type of lube do you use in your double stacks? I typically use Alexa’s Extreme in everything but not sure it that would be a good option.

    @@JawnThicc that had to be fitted as well as profiled (trimmed down) on the side so it would fit in the IDPA box. I typically use Spartan Systems Accuracy Oil largely because it does leave a solid layer of lubrication on it. But I try not to focus on what brand of oil so much as when I do it. What’s norm for me is to oil it before I shoot and again before I put it back in the bag after I’m done shooting. On a major match, I’ll oil it mid-day as a safety precaution.

    @@abyss1232 tbh… not really. When I hoped on my S2 from my Q5… I felt more confident shooting it harder and my scores improved… probably attribute it more to being comfortable and pushing myself more than a mechanical advantage of the gun… so I learn. In this case… I’d say no and prefer to shoot my S2 for USPSA. But I want to improve and want to do that by staying on one platform so this is why I’m staying here for a bit… It also didn’t help that I ordered the DS9s before I had my S2s… I then got my S2s and loved them while I was waiting for the DS9s. I just wasn’t interested in trying to make an S2 work for IDPA (hacking it up to make weight)… so I had these and said screw it… worst case I’ll get my moneys worth and have fun learning something new 😬

    Mine don’t… but got them before that rule came out. But they now offer a ported barrel options for their IDPA gun I’ve come across so many definitions and “opinions” on comped/ported barrels for CO/ESP/CCP… bottomline… as long as you can fit it in their respective boxes… you can have a ported barrel or comp in those divisions. I shot the Zev OZ9 Hypercomp at TN State earlier this year… and saw several other comped guns (Staccato XCs)

    If you bump the saftey up on these youll do it on every 1911 which is odd since cz safteys sit lower...if you're clamping down on the saftey with your mainhand you shouldnt be able to bump it up anyway. I did however swap them for the shielded double tap ones aswell. I should have gotten the non co witness plate, they cover too much of the window for my taste. thats my only gripe.

    It’s funny… I did have issues with every other 1911/2011 platform… it was one of the reasons why I originally cancelled my Infinity build. Oddly enough though, under my old grip… my Staccato P never gave me issues… my support hand was literally on top of the safety… difference being that the detent pressure on the thumb safety is harder. As far as the CZ… can’t explain beyond what I mentioned… but what it looks like is my support hand “crowds” the safety… old grip never had pressure from my thumb… but the my thumb was probably riding it just enough to keep it down. I think that’s the fun (not really lol) in trying new things 😅
