My serial number is 250 before yours and I couldn't get it to run at all. BUT, I reached out to them and they had me send it in. I really appreciate how pain free they made it. Looking forward to seeing how it goes. It was as accurate as my CZ TSO, which is scary accurate, all be it one shot and a F2F or F2E. Hopefully hit my range this weekend.

So the gun would not run, out of the box? That is scary. How is it going now that you "sent it in"? Hope it's great after the initial nightmare ✌️

@DaveandDebe It runs like a sewing machine now. They basically replaced everything but the slide and frame to "bring it up to the current generation." Didn't cost me anything and took a month. They forgot to ship it back with the new mags, then sent 2 sets and told me to keep them. I do need to check the sights because I'm missing my 100yd bell left by 6 inches but it's a very nice gun, probably my best gun.

I found MPA about a year and a half ago. I purchased a stainless and black one with a threaded barrel. Beautiful pistol and the best value out there. Every bit the quality of pistols twice the money. I wanted a holster and found your video on Red Hill Tactical so I ordered one. When it arrived within 10 activations of the retention hood it literally blew apart with all screws coming out. In contacting them they immediately blamed me for not lock tighting the screws prior to using it. My immediate thought was if lock tight is that important why did it not come that way. Red Hill offers options that cover about anything to match your pistol. The problem is the customer service is horrible. I only need a new set of screws because I lost them when it literally exploded. Over a year and I still do not have my screws. Ridiculous!

Thank you for this update, I agree with everything you said. I have DS9 1020 and it had a couple of hiccups. David Lyle and staff fixed it and I haven’t had a FTF since then. Also, the quality of gun for the price cannot be matched!

There was a feed issue, but it was fixed immediately. The first 500 guns or so had some issues of any new company. MPA always made good on the flaws, and I haven’t had a misfeed in the last 5000 rounds!!!

@@WestPat23 I have seen numerous posts across all platforms of issues with the MPA. Not just the first 500. I have been very weary of buying one even though I do like them. My only experience with one was at the gun range. A person had one and it would continually not go into battery. Glad they got yours fixed 👍

I have a DS9 as well. It's been 100% reliable with MBX and Atlas mags for at least 1500-2000 rounds this year. It has failed 100% with STI/Staccato mags though (I wish I had known it wasn't compatible before I bought it). The main gripe I have though is the hammer "skeletonizing" - when the hammer drops there's a definitive, loud "Ping" sound like a tuning fork. I put a piece of gorilla tape on one side of the hammer and it doesn't do it anymore, although I wish I didn't have to...

Hi Ray, really appreciate the follow up video on the DS9. Was looking at them on their website and wondered which grip type you went with the aluminum or SS? Also did you order yours with the grip safety deactivated and if so how do you like the way the pistol feels w/o it? Thanks again for the awesome videos you put out.

Hey Country Boy! Thank you for watching and commenting. I went with steel but I don’t have to worry about weight restriction with 3-gun and the matches I shoot. All of my grip safeties are de activated but they are all competition based pistols. The DS9 is still my recommendation for a quality DS 9!

Hey Ray, looked through your whole channel for an old video you did where you compared a bunch of 22 suppressors with a sound meter and can't seem to find it. Was that one of the videos that you had to purge back when youtube cracked down on suppressor stuff? If so, do you have upload to a different site where that video is available? That video was such a great review and introduced me to your channel.

I think you need to go watch your video on the staccato c2 and retract your comment about it malfunctioning. The brass hit the Sro and went back into the ejection port. I just think it’s a disservice to your audience to not tell it like it is. Other than the two “ stove pipes “ the c2 was flawless. I don’t think it was intentional just overlooked that the optic caused the malfunction.

I have a ?. I have shot polymers in idpa for years.I throw in some nice triggers to make them more 1911 ish.I have wanted the ds9 hybrid for a while but not sure if it will fit my hand?.I don't have big hands and I don't have small hands.I am somewhere in the middle.I have had issues hitting the slidestop and mag release on these guns.I have to shift gun in hand to use controls properly The ds9 is also a wide body so i don't know if it would be worse yet? If there was an option for extended slide stop or extended mag release, it could work.If you have any ideas how i could shoot this gun with what i have said to you, please let me know, i really want the gun.I shoot the xdm with a powder river precision trigger and my hand drops mags and slide stop fine, just to give you an idea about my hand size. Please let me know your thoughts!. Thank you and excellent videos, i watch them all the time!

Happy New Year Tim! The 2011’s usually require a grip shift for the slide stop even with big hand. It is something you get use to doing but it is definitely a reach. Enlarged mag releases will help but can also cause you to drop the mag when you aren’t planning to do that. I know it isn’t much but I don’t think you will regret going to a 2011 style pistol.

Hi i asked a few questions about the mpa-ds9-hybrid recently and was wondering if you activate the safety sometimes when drawing fast?.I have seen a few videos where people are having issues accidentally activating the safety to where the gun doesn't fire.I am a fast shooter so i figured i would ask before i drop over $3000 on this gun.The gun is amazing for sure!. I just figured i would get some feedback on how often it happens if at all with your guns. Thanks so much!.

@XRING my hands aren't small but they aren't big either Ray.Right in the middle somewhere. The 1911s i have handled always give me an issue getting to the mag release. I really have to make an adjustment. How does this gun move in the hands going from target to target? What i mean is transitioning between targets since it is a heavy gun.Does the weight slow you down weilding it around so to speak.I'm used to glocks, xdms, polymers etc. Thanks Ray.You have great videos, i watch them all!

However I Have 6 Sig Sauer Strikers In DH-3 (X-5 Legions) In 9 mm with Twice The Magazine Capacity & Shoot As Accurate As They Do At 3 Times The Price. However I Don’t Judge Or Tell People What To Do With There Billfolds. I Definitely Outshoot Them Every-Time 1800 Yards Plus With My 2 MK-21’s In .300 Norma. Regardless Those Are Pretty Nice Handguns You Shooting. Your Absolutely Correct. Don’t Get The Practice Or Age Accurate Shooting Is A Very Perishable Skill Set. Take Care.

Hey Tim, I ordered my pistols Optics ready with the irons as well as the cowitness irons for when the dot is mounted as well. You must specify that. I don’t want to ever be in a match and have my dot go out without a way to aim the pistol accurately. Also, make sure on your lead time and don’t make a change to your order. I have a friend that changed his grip from aluminum to steel midway through the process. It’s on him but it’s been 8 months.
