Do you use the med heavy or med light action Shakespeare striper rods? Thanks for the video, we used planers this weekend for the first time. A lot of wind and chop made it tough for a first attempt.

Hello sorry for the delay in replying to you We use the medium Shakespeare rods and them particular planer boards were the 8 inch ones that would allow us to put 1 to 2 oz of weight that alowed us to use large herring down deep

i just started using planer boards i been had them for years just never used them until now.i use them off the front i run 4 free lines off the back way i fish.i dont run them out far cause i do bass fish tournments i have went off on guys in rivers doing this i cant get to fish without messings my prop up with line.everyone wants to fish the creek channel so nobody can get by without taking chance hitting trees in our lakes. The state said they was making law you cant have them no further than 100 feet from boat

What is the reason for how your rods are set up...I have to farthest rod have to highest rod tip and the front pole in rod holders...working my way to the back of the boat

Thank you for your question One reason is because when we troll for stripers we basically primarily fish out of the back of the boat and another reason for the stair step pattern of the planet boards is you want always to keep your lines high and never touch in the water because that causes drag on your planer boards and causes them to not run correctly. We sometimes use 2 to 2 1/2 oz weights to hold the big size Herring that we use down at a precise depth so you don't want your planer board chopping in the water

Ernest, we use 20 lb test to the planner boards, then drop to 8 / 10 lb.at the swivel at the planner board. Thanks for asking the question and watching the video if you have any other questions please feel free to contact me
