    " the knowledge you attain from losing, will help you in the long run". This is precisely why I don't like content creators that only show them winning every single game such as Jeff Hoogland. Molt now shows his wins and losses and I learn much more from talking about what the correct play was or what could have been done differently rather than just watching someone win game after game after game.

    Been burnt so many times I pretty much always retreat when my opponent snaps now. My "come from behind" wins are far outweighed by the straight losses. My main issue is that I am rarely confident enough to snap prior to turn 6, so my wins are all for one or two cubes. Not much progression happening here!

  • @JamestheKilljoy

    @JamestheKilljoy

    Жыл бұрын

    Stop leaving just because they snap. It is better to leave turn 6 and lose 2 cubes after they prove they have a winning setup than to constantly leave JUST because they snapped. If your game state looks awful, yeah peace out. Otherwise, make them prove they are not just over confident or bluffing. Especially when you are below r90, people snap when they shouldn't all the time

    @JamestheKilljoy I even got to the point of listing what happened after staying in when someone snapped. I lost the last 10 games. Could be a run of bad rng but it bugged me to the point I wasn't enjoying the game. Much happier just retreating and (very) slowly climbing.

    @@hermanbloom to be honest, as someone who has hit Infinite rank 3 months in a row, it isn't a big deal. The real fun is found in building your own deck, upgrading your favorite cards, and trying out the new ones you get. If it is stressing you out that you are not hitting infinite, I would stop caring about it if you can. Besides, you make better decisions and win more when you are not getting tilted. So, yeah if retreating from an early snap helps you not tilt, maybe that is better for you

  • @hermanbloom

    @hermanbloom

    Жыл бұрын

    @JamestheKilljoy yeah for sure, a lot has to do with my brain and its lack of ability to read what the opponent has and over estimate my cards. Tried it again tonight, 8 rounds where the opponent snapped before turn 6 and I stayed in. Lost all of them. Running Dino Darkhawk deck so it's not a bad deck, just user error. But it happens so regularly I am better off just going slow and steady, and getting my nice Mystique variant levelled up. That's the fun for me for the moment.

    I’ve won over 200 cubes today and gained 20 ranks (51 > 71) today using thanos lockjaw. I think some of my opponents need to watch this video because they snap on turn 6 when i’m losing 1 lane and they forget I can play a 21 thanos and a stone into my lockjaw lane. It’s crazy how many games my opponents have lost to not retreating. I broke collins rule by snapping turn 1 instead of 2 whenever lockjaw or quintet + 2 stones / mindstone.

    Good guide and good points, but I gotta disagree hard on "percentages are bait". Perfecting Snaps & retreats is literally a math problem that can be calculated with expected value (EV) percentages. Granted, the calculations are super complex and you don't have time to do them all within a game. But familiarizing yourself with those numbers (in between games or in VoD reviews) is super useful to improve the accuracy of your in-game instincts. It's akin to practicing with a solver in Poker

  • @chabelo7289

    @chabelo7289

    Thats because the players you faced before learned the game quicker and better than you, they are winning and you are losing, thats why they are leaving you in lower ranks than before, so you need to try and figure out the things that you think you are lacking and work on them. Maybe you are not retreating appropriately, maybe you are not understanding the meta, maybe you are not snapping at the right times, etc.

    i dont know if its the hardest, but one of the hardest to pilot its lockjaw. And the easiest ones are destroyer and kazoo. They just play the same patterns every turn.

    I agree with all this but the more I play the more I grow to dislike the cubes system, or maybe it's because of the matchmaking. Every game becomes a retreat fest, sometimes I stay when it's 50/50 cause it's for 2 cubes. I am only rank 53 and it's just not very enjoyable to almost never finish a game. Maybe it’s just me but playing like this feels really boring??!! It’s like… only play if u know u can do your planned big play… and repeat this over and over again. Anything else u just leave cause it’s not worth taking the chances. Feels way too repetitive and boring.. I guess I would rather have fun and don’t care about ranking.

    @@EducatedCollinsSnap yeah I get it. It is very informative for sure as I know many players focus on reaching infinity and get frustrated with it. It’s just that I am not sure I am willing to sacrifice the fun factor for it lol but that’s me.

    Sorry but I disagree, percentages are fundamental. I do think people tend to overestimate their percentages but if you make a correct assessment they are literally GTO

    I fail at step one as I can't easily imagine a scenario where I lose. I've watched too many marvel movies where they come from behind (that's what she said) and win.
