Martha, I make cream of mushroom soup from the stems I take off white mushrooms. I save the stems in a freezer bags in the freezer until I have enough to make soup. I’m retired and live on a small income. Even If I wanted to use all the mushrooms you are using they are expensive and hard to find. Would be wonderful if you could cook some for us older folks on a small budget. 😊

@@jaw2112 no, she’s living at the highest end of what’s possible for life. The world is unbalanced but really anyone can strive to live in a way that is beautiful. imagine waking up early and making breakfast in the way she does. It is just a delight enjoying a sense of peace and serenity. There’s something for everyone. She’s not stuck up I don’t think. She’s just doing what she loves. She loves a certain aesthetic and atmosphere and a lot of ppl do to. A place I used to work at the owner loved Martha Stewart’s decor ideas that she lived by the same aesthetic. She made the place I work at look so beautiful it made me want to work there every day because it was Just gorgeous. Her house or should I say mansion has European touch even the gardens. It’s beautiful the aesthetic it all brings. Martha loves that aesthetic of elegant details to everything. What I love about Martha that hardly many appreciate or notice is that she’s not vulgar or disrespectful to anyone. I have seen cooking Channels where the staff are rude or swear or curse. Hell’s Kitchen for example. But Martha adds a sense of sweetness and love along with professionalism to her work. She’s very clean neat organized and tidy and it shows. I can only imagine how good her food taste because she adds that touch of love. Very rare nowadays since ppl make food in a hurry and stuff or be so presumptuous about the food they make. Like this silly guy who bends his arm to add condiments to meats and stuff at a so call “fine dining” establishment . Those are the kind of things I find dumb even too much.

Wait a minute.... Martha did you say you grew Shitake mushrooms in your basement? I just imagined a dimly lit basement with a swinging flickering lightbulb,a rusty water boiler, a chipped up concrete floor & dilapidated brick walls. I don't know what I was thinking? Your basement is probably a palace! Martha how you living? And btw,why does your cutting board look like you've never used it? ❤️🍄🍴

Martha help, I want to can mushrooms for the winter. I'm not sure what time of the year is best for mushroom. We live about 2 hrs away from Kennett Square Pennsylvania, which is known for mushrooms. I've bought a few books, they weren't helpful, can you help?

You have so many great wild edible mushrooms in your region. The Chanterelles, Lobsters, Golden Oysters, and Chicken of the Woods are out there now. The Morels are out in mid- to late-spring. And Oysters and Hedgehogs are out in the winter, whenever the ground and decaying trees are not frozen solid. There's a lot more kinds than that, of course. You may have a produce market in your area that sells wild-gathered mushrooms. It's always worth stopping by, just to see what folks have been finding out in the woods, and to get to know what they look like. Regular store mushrooms are available all year round, because they are grown under controlled conditions.
