Quality music spans the generations

I've been in love with this tune since the first time I heard it nearly 40 years ago. Every time I hear him play it, the hairs on my neck stand up, I get goose bumps, a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes - all of them signs of joy. It is just so beautiful and celebratory. When I'm dead, and they burn what's left behind, let them play this to see me off. And tell them to play it loud - so I can hear it one last time: them big gas burners are right noisy 👍

What terrible thing to think while Iistening to this its full of joy some people are dead when then are still alive enjoy the fantastic sound it's not the right time to think about these things listen to the music that's what plays for so enjoy his talent he plays for his own pleasure but us to listen

Best guitar player on the planet.......modern day music no one can lay a glove on him.

He is not a Geordie he is Scottish born in Glasgow, they moved because of his father's work

If you are fortunate enough in your final hour to have the angels of mercy come for you, I'll bet you'll hear Mark Knopfler playing in the background.

First heard this live, Mark Knopfer, Dire Straits Brothers in arms tour, when Hank Marvin came on stage to play it with them..... think it was Hammersmith Palais, 1985..... absolutely superb, never to be forgotten

Unmatched as a player and without peers in ability to compose soul stirring music that is so joyous and beautiful! His songs are full of lyrics that paint pictures , with words . A superb talent!

His playing carries u to another place...beautiful place

I saw him in concert las 2019 in Pamplona Spain..no words to describe he is 71 years but his músic músic timeless...one of the best of all times ...long life Mr. KNOFPLER

If you want to know and see what "genius" looks and sounds like, listen to this composition from Mark Knopfler. He is cut from a totally different class of a fabric, above and beyond mere mortals. I heard this tune decades ago and still get a lump in my throat when I hear it. It's incredible that so many emotions can be squeezed into a guitar ... only MK is capable of doing that. Also give an applause to the amazing band he has!

Reminds me of the 80's. Qantas used to play this as you boarded the plane from Heathrow heading back down under

Qantas were very good at using Music until the Irish mathematician got his greedy hands on it.

The cadences of the music of the Scottish people woven into his own unique and beautiful creation...perfectly played.A gem of popular music.

In Eastern culture, it's sometimes said the music is the food for soul. And this proves it! MK has some wizardry to reach souls with music and touch finer senses. Standing ovation 👏🏼.

There's something wrong either with this tune or myself - every time brings tears to my eyes for the last 40 years.

This was played at a friend's funeral. He was a local hero. It brought me to my knees, and I have cried every time I have heard it since.

Every time I hear this I just think of my friends from the 529th MP COMPANY that are so dear in my heart.

MK the greatesr muscian, song writer and guitar player anywhere in the world. His body of work, which spans more than 50 years speaks for itself. Long Live Mark Knopfler!!!!!

Great, I still ha original tape of "Local Hero" soudtrack. No seen this movie for a loong time, but still listening to the tape at times.

Like so many of Marks best tunes, it has a melancholy tune to it. And of course His brilliant guitar play.

This number takes me back to the times I worked away from home when crossing a certain bridge on the motorway and all the familiar landmarks were shown.I knew then I was truly "Going Home"

Brings back memories of Pennan from Local hero, beautiful village, been there dozens of times. If your in Banffshire go and visit, you’ll fall in love with it, Mark does the music justice, brilliant guitarist.

I first saw Local Hero when I was eighteen and ever since then I have wanted to visit Pennan, it became sort of a lifetime goal... only some forty years later was I able to ride my bike all the way from Athens, Greece up to this magical village. It was the most memorable journey of my life, and I owe it all to this film and MK's superb music... I am so grateful!

Mark plays the guitar like he is riding a bike! No effort at all. It’s amazing!

It always makes me cry. So wistful, so yearning. And that ringing from the phone box on the empty pier, which it's likely no one will answer. Yes, the film "Local Hero" is where I first heard this, and it's that bittersweet closing image that remains in my mind, and colors my interpretation of the piece.

That Beautiful guitar piece Going Home, MUST have come out of Heaven, Straight to the hands of Mark! WOW! What a GIFT!!!!! This So Powerful piece of Mark’s reminded me seeing a film of a Spitfire desperately limping back home after a big battle, and this guitar piece fits a film Perfectly. A Great entrance Display guitar piece for The Breightling Fighters of Warbird aircraft. The guitarist in the Check shirt looks just like my long lost friend Derek Hayes. Would anyone be able to let me know if he is Derek Hayes from Wales. Last time we met was 1990. I miss Derek, a jolly good friend. We lost touch as I was in hospital for 13 months. Going home is probably a more sensitive song, even when Mark injects more Gaelic folklore it sounds imposing. I always get chills,.

I lost my husband last year. One of my best memories is driving through Glencoe in our MG Roadster, withthe top down and this anthem blasting out.

Going Home, and the Local Hero soundtrack in general, accompanied me during 4 months sailing round the UK and near-European waters on an oil tanker. I left the ship at night in the Humber Estuary, heading for Immingham in the pilot launch, with Going Home playing on my Walkman. For me, this song is unforgettable.

4:21 is the MOMENT OF MUSIC. goosebumb. what a wonderful man and music. HE IS NO:1 and always will be. HE IS THE GOD'S MUSIC REPRESENTATIVE ON PLANET

I actually buy that . I am not religious but his music is so unique ( it really is) I remember talking about this when he first appeared. He never seems to play this the same way twice these days. The man has a beautiful mind. This piece of music my all time favourite. That’s a huge call

I grow up with him. He teaches me to be resilient singing:" just believe me baby and I'll take you away from out of this darkness and into the day" ( wow! Even my automatic corrector knows it), to appreciate little things ( to many songs about 🙂), to think reality like a beautiful painting to look with curiosity and to be humble and that's what he always does.

I'm amazed this concert wasn't professionally filmed. But the sound is spot on! Not sure how he managed that ...

There is nothing better than that crossing the Tyne facing north, feeling. Pure Magic.
