Mark Knopfler was recently interviewed and the interviewer told him he was rated as the best guitar player in the world. Mark replied ”utter nonsense” he then went on to list all the things he did wrong when playing guitar. He might be right, he is not the best technical player but boy is he musical and unique. I never tire of listening to him and I can tell it’s him playing the minute he starts. There’s nobody else who plays like him and to me he is the best.

This song reminds me of my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never missed a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes but some times I wonder why bad thing always happen to good people..

I'm almost 90 years old and have already listened to the album 5 times today. I need it.

I am listening to this CD for the 6th time in the last two days; I'm 75 and have been listening to and a fan of Mark's music for 50 of those 75 years; I cannot begin to express the excitement, joy, and appreciation your music and songs have brought to me and millions of others all around the world.I played bass in a band during high school and college, and while I am not even in the same galaxy as you where musicianship is concerned, I learned enough about playing guitar to recognize the brilliance and incredible guitar work and songwriting that have been your trademark since Dire Straits. You don't listen to a song collection like One Deep River so much as you feel it in your heart and soul, Like a fine wine, you have mellowed with age, and I pray that you will be around long enough to grace us with many more beautiful songs and masterful guitar work. God bless you and your fellow musicians for the incredible support for the teen cancer support organizations. with your Going Home tribute release. Nobody but nobody can make a guitar sing so soulfully as you can!

at home,on my sailboat,up in the mountans skiing,driving my car,on the radio,at a bar Knopflers' music is my favorite company,my friend,a special treat ! everytime you listen to his songs you have something new to notice either with the orchestration or with the lyrics....i've seen him live in rome,sofia x2,athens and lucca in 2019 which was by far the best concert i ever watched....thank you forever! love from Greece

Mark Knopfler ist ein charismatischer Musiker. Mark is everything an artist should be: a huge talent, a wonderful composer, a musician who captivates the audience from the very first note. All I want is to attend at least one more of his concerts. Thank you for the music for the past 40 years of admiring it!

I have the deluxe version. The five songs on the second cd are as superb as the main album.

This album is so beautifully crafted. It is obvious that everyone involved added love to the mix. The melodies and storytelling are what continue to set Mark apart. 💜

May God give you many years Mr. Knopfler. We really need you here around!
