He was playing The Joker in the Arkham franchise, sort of had to do his best to imitate Hamill. All in all, he did pretty good. And let's be honest, if it was Baker who came first, we'd be calling Hamill the cheap imitation

Mark's Joker sounds more raspier over the years when compared to when he first started in the Animated Series which was a little more higher pitched and wimsical when he laughed, which is understandable since Mark got older. Troy's version is like how Mark sounded in the Animated Series but more serious and brutal.

Anyone else notice how Troy's not only sounds younger, the his mannerisms and voice make it sound like he has more of a level head, and knows what his goal is. It kinda gives the impression that the joker became way more insane by Arkham Asylum, and I kinda love that.

Troy Baker's Joker voice is young, dark, and impulsive, while Mark Hamill's Joker is old, patient, and calculating. Basically, young joker is arrogant, and old joker is just more relaxed. In conclusion, they're both awesome. By the way, I haven't played the game... yet. =)

@Tanikaze Origins is a great game and my personal favorite. It's bad reputation is purely the work of Rocksteady making a concerted effort to disown it* and encourage fans to do the same. It's a dick measuring contest between Rocksteady and WB Montreal, really. *These are obvious examples, but the marketing hammered home that Arkham Knight was the final chapter of a "trilogy," despite being the fourth game. And they made sure that Origins was pointedly left off the Return to Arkham collection, which sucks because there's not a good way to play it on current gen systems. At this point, I'd accept a straight port to the Switch rather than it not being easily available.

I would say it’s more like Mark is Alec Guinness, and Troy is Ewan McGregor, since both the latters do a perfect job at playing the younger version of the formers character.

To show that Troy Baker is a good Joker, Mark Hamill actually gave his blessing to Troy Baker when Baker got the part in Arkham Origins.

Why isn't Troy Baker a live action Joker yet he's got the voice and body for it. I have an idea why not make him the Battinson Joker.

Also, to those who say that he is just a voice actor - some of Troy's roles were full performance capture, and you can see how great he is in behind the scenes footages. The fact that he can emote so well even with a goofy motion capture suit strapped on him is a huge testament to his talent..

I don't know why but it gives me a lot of satisfaction how Troy's laugh sounds. It is without a doubt the perfect successor to Hamill

Dang. I didn't expect to hear another VA for the Joker that could measure up to Mark. But, especially as he continues to gain experience, I think we have a good man to carry the torch.

Once mark get too old for the job Troy is the way to go but mark will always be a legendary Joker and the best at that

Even though Troy is mimicking Hamil for the most part, I prefer his laugh I think. It's more dynamic. Overall, Mark's Joker has more emotional range, but if I were picking a favorite on laugh alone I'd pick Troy.

It’s clear that Troy was told to just “sound like Mark.” But, joker is clearly younger and more brutal with how he talks. He’s less refined. He sounds like he’s just coming up with his maniacal shit as he goes. Mark’s joker sounds like a more rehearsed performance. The younger joker had less satire and pizazz, which I think fits

Yes it does, at the begging of Arkham Origins it’s abundantly clear that joker wants Batman dead and if he has the chance to kill him he doesn’t do it himself, he sends goons like bane because it’s like it’s beneath him. It’s until he’s saved by Batman when the Gotham royale explodes that he is intrigued by him and starts to make all the theatrics he usually does in the future games (his plan with the heart monitor)

Both of them are great! I grew up watching Batman the animated series and Mark Hamill is the one I listen growing up. Troy Baker copied Mark Hamill’s Joker and that’s a good thing. He captures Joker very well

I personally like Mark Hamill’s Joker a little more since he has been playing the character for so long. However, Troy does amazingly well, especially since he has to follow in Hamill’s footsteps. They are both talented, but Hamill’s will always have a special place in my heart since I grew up with him.

Both their performances are great. What really breaks it for Mark, though, is the laugh. The Joker is nothing without his laugh, and Mark's performance portrays such an insane glee that Troy, despite his skills, really just can't match.

Troy will take the mantle now that Mark Hamill has retried from the role because *his* Batman has passed 😔.

origins had a phenomenal cast that really depicts the youth in the characters. Roger Craig Smith plays batman so well, and the for Troy Baker's joker. When it comes to playing these characters years into their career, Conroy and Hamil are the best.

They're both absolutely legendary, and if Hamill ever stopped being Joker, Baker could definitely carry on the legend.

I feel like a better comparison would have been Mark’s 90s Joker voice before his voice got too hoarse. But damn if both actors aren’t great

Mark Hamill is the original and Genius. Couldnt help thinking Troy tried to follow Hamill's style but still he did exceptionally well too. And there is John Dimaggio (BM:Under the Redhood) who also brought something new and refreshing. If I have to rank, Hamill will be the first, Dimaggio second and Troy third, very close to each other. All their 3 jokers are a delight to hear.

Since Mark Hamill won't be voicing Joker anymore, I really hope that the torch will be passed down to Troy Baker

I think more extreme emotions like straight anger and striaght Joy(his main laughing), Troy is better. He is after an overall insane voice actor. However, more subtle things like regular talking are much more unsettling when Hamill talks. He understands the character much more than Troy obv. And his laugh, while not being technically more realistic than Troy’s, I think is still better. He’s able to do different laughs for different scenes. So overall, ofc Hamill is better but goddamn I think Troy could fill in for him now that Hamill’s stepped down.

I will never ever get bored watching Mark and Troy doing Joker things, both two are amazing 😍😍😍😍
