Agreed, Very underrated. He captured the sinister scratchy tone of the joker, maybe not as best as hamil but still nailed it from the Jason todd torture at the beginning to his last laugh at the end.

Zorric I personally think Hamill's is my all time favorite Joker, but among all the Jokers I've seen, I think Michael Emerson, John DiMaggio, and Brent Spiner's Jokers were the only 3 that creeped me out and unsettled me growing up

Hamill's my obvious favorite, but Troy Baker and Kevin Kevin Michael Richardson both did amazing work

Mark Hamill and Troy Baker really did an amazing job as animated Joker. Heath Ledger, Cameron Monaghoun (I can't spell his last name), and Joaquin Phoenix did great for live action.

It’s pretty crazy how Mark Hammill essentially influenced every single performer’s rendition of the Joker after his. He was the blueprint.

Mark Hamill's. It's mostly because of the way that mark does the jokers voice that makes it so amazing. He tones and and expresses his voice to where it shows how truly insane and interesting of a character that the joker is. Especially when Mark Hamill does his voice, because of the way he decides to talk with him

Troy baker did a pretty damn good joker but mark hamill will always be first Troy is a very close second though

It's pretty clear Mark Hamill set the standard for all future joker voices. Troy Baker's impression was pretty spot-on. Special mention to Michael Emerson though, for having such a naturally sinister voice; it put a unique spin on the joker.

Mark Hamill might be the best, but Kevin Michael Richardson made my childhood and has my heart.

The definitive version of Joker is and always be Mark Hamil. Although i also like Kevin Michael Richardson's portrayel.

As much as I love Hamill's Joker, I hope more actors can do their own Joker voice. A lot of these are just impressions of Mark Hamill's like Troy Baker. We need more original takes like Dimaggio's, and Anthony Ingruber (Telltale Joker/John Doe).

+Micheal Jackson's Aborted Son It would only be redundant if they got troy baker for a different batman series and then he did this same voice. but the Joker he's playing is just a younger version of hamill joker. so of course he is supposed to sound similar. but let's say they had troy do the killing joke instead of Mark. Then you have a point. but this is within the same universe so it makes perfect sense.

Mark Hamill IS The Joker. Most of the Joker voices after him were just trying to copy what he already did. That gleeful blend of comedy and chaos that Hamill brought when he made the Joker his own just created the Joker as we know him today. I can't read The Joker's lines in comics without hearing Hamill's voice - hell, I can't read the dialogue from Joker-like characters without Hamill's voice. To this day, I imagine Hamill's voice when reading Kefka's dialogue in Final Fantasy VI. The only person who even came close was John DiMaggio. And that was only because he tried to do the same thing - he brought his own unique and twisted perspective to the character and it was different - but definitely enjoyable. It's just impossible to top Hamill.

Exactly. He's bringing nothing new or original to the character. Just attempting to copy what Hamill did. And no - he didn't succeed. I'm sorry, but you can't duplicate what Hamill brought to the voice. DiMaggio deserves credit for doing something different and actually having fun with it and attempting to make it his own. And it was different, but it was still enjoyable. Baker is trying to get the lightning that Hamill caught in a bottle to stay in the bottle.

Everyone tries to copy Hamill too much. That's why I like it when Dimaggio actually tried something new with his interpretation. I hope we see more of him in the near future.

KMR's voice is quite unique and underrated. There's that manic edge to it as well. Hamill and Baker are still the top two for me.

cameronjr8 Those aren't voice-actors, as they're live action characters. Therefore there's no need to rate their voice-work, just their performance as a whole. If we were, though, I'd have to say Nicholson ties with Ledger in my book.

Mark was the best voice. All along i didn't knew he was the one who talked for that batman series in the 90s. I used to watch it back then i was a youngster like 10 or 11 at the time. I wonder if he also talk in batman beyond joker.

It is very clear that mARK HAMill is best so far.......and Troy Baker is second best....more like father Mark and Son Troy.....

it's pretty much Mark Hamill made the voice and everyone else (with some exceptions who just... don't quite work, or came before) just tries their best to emulate him... which Troy is absolutely amazing at.

While Mark is iconic and I literally called him and still call him "The Voice of Chaos", DiMaggio became my favorite when I found out about the film "Under The Red Hood" two years ago. He just sounds more...menacing and cold. I wish he gets included more in batman movies as the Joker.

Mark Hamill will always be the animated voice of the Joker to me.

I’d like if they ever wanted to portray an older version of the character, Hamill could play it live action

My favourite is Richard Epcar, I've been too young to grow up with Mark Hamill as the Joker even if his voice still goes so great with the character. But Richard Epcar is underrated in my opinion.

Honestly, i'm sick of seeing Troy Baker's name everywhere. Mainly because, while he used to be strongly attached to dubbing, he just doesn't talk about it anymore. He left a few projects in the middle of them; he just seems to have become a celebrity, and I can't really dig his work. I very much love Travis/Laura for their acknowledgement of their old fanbase. Steven Blum is also a guy that, while he is also in many video games (most of which I don't play, as my computer is *awful*), I've always had burned into my brain as TOM and a dozen Digimon characters.

So I can honestly tolerate him being everywhere; I generally assumed as a youngster that it was just a common voice type that many people had. But just seeing Troy Baker "usurp" all these iconic roles is annoying. I honestly recognized Richardson's version of Joker the best, but I know that Mark Hamill is in fact the iconic version. Baker played friggin' Batman, what's next, putting Peter Cullen out of business?

Of course Mark Hamill will forever and always be the definitive voice of the joker, but I have to give major love to Kevin Michael Richardson and John DiMaggio as well, I absolutely adore their voices.

Mark Hamil takes the cake in this voice off. It is featured more and I just a lot better. Plus his voice is more used than the other ones.

I wish I had grown up in an English speaking country, Mark Hamil is just incredible.

Gabriel Rodriguez I don't think it's strange; I'm inclined to agree with you. He plays a decent good guy, but is an excellent bad guy.

Best Joker: Mark Hamill 2º Joker: Dr. Drakken.

Each voice of Joker adds something, but Mark Hamill will always be a personal favorite since I grew up with him. He really brings the Clown Prince of Crime to life as the homicidal maniac he is. Troy Baker is a close second.

I noticed that before Mark Hamill, the voices were all over the place. So when Mark took over he recreated the whole Joker theme and everyone there after have tried to recreate his tone and accent. So to put it out there Mark Hamill is and always will be the true voice of the Joker.

Mark Hamill will always be the Joker to me. Literally, I don't think anyone will ever have a better Joker voice than him.

As much as I love Marks performance, I equally adore that split between the joking trickster and complete demonic monster Richardson pulled off. No other performance like it.

Ursae Majoris Completely change? No. Make something that was his own? Of course. The voice of a character is not set in stone. Different voices and interpretations are common especially when you have a long running series. The Joker himself has gone through numerous changes ranging from a goofy clown to a murderous psychopath. Sure there's talent in being able to imitate a voice no matter what's said, after all just repeating a line over and over from an episode does not mean you can truly imitate the voice. However it lacks creativity. He wasn't fresh, the only fresh bit was the look and he didn't influence that. In fact if he changed I wouldn't have been bitching at all. In fact my favorite Jokers all are different. Hamill, Ledger, Nicholson, DiMaggio and Richardson are all my top favorite Jokers. They all brought their own thing to the character. Hamill may be the staple but each of the others has things he doesn't that make their Jokers very enjoyable. Troy sounds simply like he was trying to sound like Hamill's and that's it. Not bringing his own twist, not making the character his own and not using his creativity to make a memorable Joker. After all, apart from this video and others like it comparing voices of Joker, I've never heard anyone even mention Arkham Origins or it's Joker. Some playing may even think that it's just Hamill doing it it's so similar. A character's appearance and personality may be set in stone but not everything is. We see that in many shows, especially if they're long running. Just look at the Doctor from Doctor Who. Even the various movies and tv shows of Batman don't use the same voices for all characters do they? Imagine if in the Dark Knight they got Hamill to be Joker. Would it really have been as successful? Or if it was Jack Nicholson? They succeeded because they brought something new to the characters, more than just their appearance changing slightly.

Wow. Storch's laugh was spot on. You can really hear that in Hammil's Joker, too. But my favorite part of Spiner's turn as the Joker was the way he effortlessly slipped in between personalities.
