He usually prefers roles where he REALLY messes with his voice cause thoose are the ones that he does best. TL:DR skips was not that exciting of a Character for him to voice

This hits different this week, RIP Kevin Conroy, the Batman we deserved and the one we need, but can always find in all of the Batman animated works. Feel so sorry for Hamil having worked with and loved working with so many people that have passed on.

Mark Hamill was afraid to play joker and now he is the only one anyone wants to voice the joker. Imagine having to follow him up. Best joker on my list.

It's so amazing that Hamill knows the other Joker actors and treats them with respect. So many people see an animated Joker that isn't Hamill and dismiss their performance entirely, but he actually appreciates the differences they bring to the table. Just wholesome.

I love it when actors appreciate their characters' predecessors and use them as inspiration.

Mark Hamill knows when he is onto something. When he said that Avatar was too smart of a show, he was RIGHT. When he said that the new Star Wars Trilogy's Luke Skywalker was not the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, he was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. The man knows his craft. The idiots at Disney should have listen to him.

Notice how Mark Hamill is always crediting the script & complementing his fellow actors. Very classy move & very classy dude.

Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy as the Joker and Batman are honestly one of my favorite pairings in animation. Whenever I read a comic, those two are always the voices I hear. You almost can’t do one without he other (Also, I like when he gives credit to all the other actors who have voiced Joker. Even Brent Spiner, who many people said did a poor job as Joker. Hamill will always be my favorite, but some of the other actors have done great, too)

But have you seen the interview with Zuko voice actor? His first take with Hamill was when Ozai scars Zuko, and he had to scream like "nooo faaather". In a big empty hall, just the two of them, raining outside, and Hamill was wearing full black. He said he felt like doing the Vader vs Luke scene, but this time Hamill was Vader. Then Hamill left, and he was just sitting there thinking what has just happened. 🤯

@@buskergirl Ironically, Mark Hamill got to act this out. In The Flash, there's a character called The Trickster (basically Joker). He plays the adult version of the Trickster while a copycat tries to be like him, only for him to do the whole "I am your father" reveal to the copycat. It's not my favorite episode but that scene in particular is hilarious and fulfilling to me.

Mark Hamil was a part of so many shows and movies that made up my childhood. Forever grateful for his talent.

Hearing him say that Kevin Conroy is his favourite Batman, as well as bringing up the episode where Batman is supposedly dead, hits completely different now. Rest in piece Batman. Your crusade against evil is finally over, and you can rest now.

Crazy how he was inspired to be a VA before becoming an actor, didn't know that. Always thought he went from physical acting into VA because he is amazing at both. Also I agree, Kevin Conroy is my Batman as well.

I remember playing the game one day and I really stopped to listen. I thought, "The guy doing the joker is incredible." I looked up the credits to see who was doing the voice work. I was shocked to see Mark Hamill's name. I had no idea he did voice work. Top notch performance for sure.

He also plays the Joker in DC Universe Online. There is some truly godawful voice acting in that game, but the Joker sounds perfect because Mark Hamill does the voice. (which is also probably why the game never gets any new DLCs featuring the Joker, they probably can't afford Mark Hamill anymore lol)

Also don’t know why he wasn’t in Batman Gotham Knight anime. Kevin Conroy voiced Bruce/Batman in the anime. Wish they made Joker in it. Or at least make a cameo. That way Marky can voice him.

After the success of Star Wars he could have gotten any role he wanted yet he went to voice cartoons and games, what a legend.

@@f33r45 Mark Hamill literally says this when he starts talking about the taking on the role of the Joker. He says he feared he wouldn't get the Joker part because of his Luke Skywalker role. While the issue may not be 95% like the other guy says it is a legit issue. Christopher Reeve dealt with this due to his Superman role. Henry Cavill originally didn't want to do Superman sequels out of fear of being typecasted. The term typecasting became a term for a reason. Some actors overcome it some don't.

@purplerains Elijah Wood has also talked in interviews at length about having this same problem after playing Frodo. Also true for Daniel Radcliffe after Harry Potter. Neither one of them has ever been shy about admitting that many of the roles they went out for immediately after playing such iconic chatacters were chosen specifically because they were so completely different from the role that shot them into superstardom. Dan in Equus and Elijah in Sin City and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. The difference with Harrison Ford was that he had struggled for ten years before Star Wars. Mark Hamill had done a couple voice acting gigs and, like, one live action gig before playing Luke. So Harrison Ford had been in the business for a while longer then Mark Hamill, even though Star Wars was what made both of them household names.

Almost cried when he talked about kevin conroy... RIP :/

That bit about Kevin Conroy hits real different now that he's gone.

I want to find the madlad who managed to cast Mark Hammil, Patrick Stewart, Edward James Olmos and Uma Thurman in my favorite Miyazaki film. I mean, that's the only one watched with the dub, and all those different voices actually worked.

RIP Kevin, you were my favorite Batman, even though I didn't know it at the time.

He did a phenomenal job voicing the joker, to the point where I read any batman comic with joker in it, I immediately imagine Mark saying those lines.

Cecilia Potter Mark Hamil is a legend along with Mel Blanc when it comes to voice acting. For those who don’t know, Mel Blanc did all the original Looney tunes voices by himself.

@@healingvisioner1 No. No he really didn't. Troy Baker is my least favorite Joker ever. He sounded terrible in Origins and just completely wrong. Luckily it's only because Hamill was working on Knight at the time.

Without Batman crime has no punchline... RIP to Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil's Joker as they both passed on together💔

This man is a national treasure to me. How many shows and movies have I loved where he had a primary role in it. Man...

I am from Greece so as u can imagine it was dubbed in my language but when I was searching the episodes I found them in English (years later) I had a mind grenade that ozai was voiced by Mark

Do tell me. How often do you read the comics these days? HOW OFTEN DOES ANYONE READ COMICS THESE DAYS? I have a library in my basement from ALL the dc and marvel comics ive accumulated over the years and they just sit in their gathering dust. because the media has ignited over the last few years.

Yeah, one thing I hate about Batman movies now is Batman has that deep voice, it’s rips off his character He’s not a big scary bat, he’s a human, a rich guy in a suit (just like Tony Stark), giving him a demon voice cheapens his humanity, that’s why I always prefer Kevin

My nephew got Kevin Conroy to sent a message to my brother for Fathers day!!! Couldve made me cry because it was SOOOOO SPECIAL!!! they love Batman and all that stuff soooooo much! My bro was to the 9's and loved it! Plus it was sooo special as a gift! Just an amazing piece to see and be a part of. I remember my bro and I watching the 1st showing of the Animated series!!!

I know everyone's on about Joker mainly, but can we take a sec to appreciate his voice for Firelord Ozai?? I've seen that show 100 times and some of his lines can STILL run chills through my spine!

It would seem that age has affected mark Hamill's Joker voice. But the thing is, he still has so much respect and devotion to the character that we love Mark no matter what voice he does

I watch this every so often , it always amazes me seeing the multiple voices coming outta Mark's mouth . One of the greatest voices of my childhood right here !

It’s funny, he only has really one noteworthy live action acting role, but it’s arguably the most iconic acting role of all time since it was the lead for the most iconic movie franchise of all time. But it’s still only that one noteworthy role in that acting style, but outside of that he’s also become one of the biggest voice actors in the world. He’s truly one of a kind, one of the greatest actors of all time.

Mark Hamill is a living legend.

Mark Hamill is and always will be THE number one iconic voice of the Joker to me, so much so that his voice is the one I hear in my head whenever I read any comics, or books, or see any image with the Joker in it. His is the voice I do whenever I do or have done my Joker cosplay.

Hamill and Conroy are one of the the greatest voice acting duos. They really brought those characters right off the page. RIP Kevin Conroy, I hope Mr. Hamill is doing okay through this difficult time.

@@bigb860 well, it's not that Clooney was bad as Batman. It's that the movie and the Batman itself were terrible to begin with! Clooney is a great actor, maybe he could pull off an older version of Batman/Bruce Wayne if he had a better movie arround him
