It's a shoot out, the crowd always behaves like this and are encouraged to do so.

I feel like more people would watch this if not for the crowd. I get it, long form snooker is "boring" and in a boring environment, trying to do the opposite just feels forced and obnoxious though.

Sorry but that’s just your opinion. Stuff like this helps the sport grow and you’re just preventing those kinda chances with an attitude like that. It’s the whole point. Just don’t watch it if you don’t like the crowd. It’s not for you, it’s for the sake of the sport. Just allow it and watch something else snooker-wise honestly. The sport needs the exposure and accessibility

They should do best of 3s, then best of 5s for quarters and semis, and best of 7s for final.

Lol that's like defeating the whole point of the tournament. It's called the Shoot Out, that's what it is. Going with your proposal just makes it like any other tournament, only shittier and smaller. The way that it is, it's at least unique.

I was thinking of Best of 3 for the whole tournament, that way at least you get more chances to make up for a mistake but still short and fun, best of 5 and 7 would be too long for this format

@@yane499 frames are 10 mins long, even with setup and best of 7 final would be over in less than 2 hours

Probably because in consistency with previous years, everyone expected someone outside top 16 to be the Shoot Out champion...for instance, I was cheering for Si Jiahui, especially after his win against Kyren Wilson. Too bad he lost to Allen in the very next match...

Funny how people criticise this type of snooker. As if in Chess you do not have the usual and then "Blitz"... each takes different qualities. Take the young Stan: in normal snooker he runs around and gets on everyones nerves for his endless checking etc ticks. In a shootout he has no time, so he simply pots.

The crowd is horrendous, go watch darts

very tactical play for mark, i fear that in the end, it beats the purpose of the format

Agree 100 percent. Deliberate safety play in a shoot out should be a foul because it makes it impossible for the other player to win. For this to work it has to be that you always go for a pot. As it is, get 40 and play safe.

The only one i wouldn't like to see winning. what a shame.

The crowds are disgusting and the way Mark won ruins the format. If you are creating a shoot out, playing safe has to be taken out of the game. You cannot be a true snooker fan and enjoy this, just a knock about in a rowdy pub

I think Mark Allen deserves a better title than shootout champion .it is a marginal event

Snooker is not a sport Eurosport. Thank goodness this was not broadcast on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 or even 5 the crowd are almost as bad as that other sport named darts.
