Why did you assume MK stated weights (10 for metal versions to 4 and 6) it's game play mechanics not that it just means they are hollow inside (or it's just skin that turns metal or just a metal coating, which seems supported by the liquid metal pit turning Mario into metal version)? I mean they are metal, why assume it's solid block? And if we say it's just game play thing then why base Mario and Peach weight on it?

Wait, when you calculated Peach's volume, you were just taking her into account. By the looks of it, a lot PGP's mass will come from the solid metal dress she's wearing. Since Flesh-Peach is wearing dainty, floaty cloth, it probably doesn't affect her overall density or mass very much, but if it's all turned to gold it certainly would.

To everyone saying a coating wouldn't be heavy enough. Gold is very heavy. So atleast for peach... And rather than just a thin coat it could be a few layers of flesh too. My point is, if being solid metal would make them way to heavy maybe it's more like an exoskeleton than a full conversion... Though i have no idea other than magic on how they could breath... If memory serves, can't metal mario stay under water without drowning in 64?

MR. J Well, that wouldn't make Mario densed enough to let him sink underwater. The cloating would need to be very thick for that, but since the size of the metal characters is the same as the size of their non-metal equivalents, this would mean the person inside would need to shrink or get compressed, what sounds like an very painful solution.

Lord Ender True point, but if Mario gets a hit and shrinks, his propotions change as well drastically. Meaning, he wouldn't fit in the Super Mario Cloating anyway. But it's possible that the Metal-Mario Power-Up comes with a special shrink in size without changing his propotions, so point for you there. ^^

Also take in consideration that in Super Mario 64 DS, When Wario has the power up it is likely he is made up of the same material as Metal Mario and in the game Metal Wario sinks in lava without melting in Lava Land. +TheRealPentigan I did not say melt due weight density did I?No. If the power up had an infinite amount of time Wario would just jump up and he could stay there for a long time he just starts sinking but if he stays there for too long he just drowns. Same could be said if Metal Mario was there. The melting point of certain metals depends on the atomic structure of that said metal.

I think, you made one little mistake here. Normally the percentage of a metal in an alloy mixture is based on its weight, not its volume. But you applied it to the volume all the time. Sadly, this is not how it works.

I can't help but notice an error. You said at 3:31 "58.3%", but then in the video you put "53.3%." So either it is the larger percentage and you hit the wrong key, or you read the script wrong and somehow didn't notice while editing. Edit: 7:24 So it is 58.3%?! Where did you get 46.7% from before then?! This makes absolutely no sense! If the correct amount is 58.3% gold, then that would mean the remaining percentage of other metals should 41.7%! So taking into account you only mentioned 38.5% of Pink Gold Peach's body being composed of copper (36%), silver (2.5%), and zinc (1%). What is the remaining 3.2% composed of? And then all of a sudden 36% becomes 36.5%, 2.5% becomes 3.7%, and 1% becomes 1.5%?! This makes up for the 41.7%, but you previously stated that that the non-gold portion of the alloy was 46.7%. I'm far from a mathematician, but I do know for a FACT you can't throw numbers around without explaining or showing where you got them from. Nor can you simply change the numbers to better fit the equation. These mistakes/inconsistencies not only make it harder to follow your logic throughout this video, but also makes you look like you don't quite know what you are doing. Now, I am a fan of your channel and enjoy watching your theories, but when I see you doing something like this, it makes the experience less enjoyable. Forgive me if I'm coming across as a HUGE jerk, but this seems like the sort of thing you should have caught and fixed before even exporting this video form whatever video editing program you use. Another edit: When narrowing down the four metals Metal Mario could be made of you said "aluminum, tungsten, magnesium, or silver-molybdenum." Then after debunking the other three, you say "titanium"?! And then you say "tungsten-titanium." Where did that come from? Up until that point, you hadn't mentioned titanium once! So had did that come up when the only other metal you mentioned it could be was TUNGSTEN?! In response to your "and use it to improve your life somehow", I suggest you try proof reading and watching your videos.

I love these scientific theories. Even if they're not always perfect at least you're chill about it and it's a lot of fun.

gnoggin, I would consider the metal being only on the skin and the speed of mario falling underwater at terminal velocity (even though the terminal velocity of the air in the game is really slow) and effects underwater (I haven't searched it, but some metals don't rust

I really enjoy this type of stuff, but just want to point out that the scale in Mario kart might not be a scale per se but rather classifies ranges or increases nonlinearly. Also this assumes that the metal is the same throughout. It could be that a much less dense metal is used in the core and a much denser metal is used as a coat. -Especially in Pink Gold's case

Considering his mobility, it is probably just a part of him (like a skin replacement), or a thick coat around him that compresses him into the same size, but heavier than his skin. I would like to see you figure out which metal he is based on the two assumptions: it is a coating, and it is relatively the same thichness that Princess Peach has.

I'm late to the party and this might have been already said, but maybe why the metal versions are so light is because they're not actually solid metal, so maybe we can assume that the game backstory for metal Mario carries over to mariokart and peach with them just be dipped or coated in their respective metals. Not sure if that would change much, but just an idea.

I would've thought that Metal Mario would be made of a more dense metal than Pink Gold Peach, since while they both share the same weight, Metal Mario is noticeably shorter than Pink Gold Peach, which would imply that he's also denser.

I got a question about the Sonic series how does the space colony ARK have gravity and an atmosphere similar to earth or mobius? I only ask because the characters jump at the same heights as that of earth or mobius and they die when they go to far away from the ark.

Well in Odyssey there’s a costume of Metal Mario. The description is: “When you want to wrap yourself in nostalgia - and then aluminum foil”. So the Marvelously Magnificent Mister Metal Mario is Made of aluminum.

One thing that I feel I need to point out is your are assuming that the entire body is one solid piece of metal. One thing that I have noticed is that although Mario and M. Mario have very similar animations they do have at least one animation that is different, that being their 1st place victory animation (possibly other end race animations I didn't go out of my way to see them all). M. Mario had a much stiffer/robotic movement when waving to the crowd compared to Mario's more fluid/organic movements. It has been by head cannon that Metal characters were just robots versions witch probably means that although they have an outside finish that is the same, there insides would have many different parts. That being said I understand why you didn't go into other aspects due to the near impossibility that would be to calculate.

I’ve always thought of Metal Mario as some “light” substance covered in a layer of metal.

I honestly thought the metal power up was liquid metal like in Terminator. I only started thinking that because of the way the animation you see looks when you select the metal setting in special smash in Smash Ultimate.

You know, the in game weight for Metal Mario and Pink Gold Peach could be possible IF they were actually hollow, or if it's only a metal shell and not completely metal.

Everytime I see new Metal Mario with old Metal Mario, I get said. I miss that oily metal look from 64.

In Super Mario 64 in France it was "Mario de Plomb" which is Lead Mario in English

When i played Super Mario 64 back in... a very long time ago... i also wondered which metal Metal Mario was made of. I had the idea that he isn´t made completly out of metal. Because, like you said, he wouldn´t be able to live or move. Another reason for me to think this was: I´m running around as normal Mario and get transformed into metal, i´m still the same person. This may just be some sort of outfit. Mario gets covered in metal, to become much heavier and tougher. Of course, it´s a magic world, so he can still breathe somehow. The metal Mario in Super Smash Bros on the other hand seems to be a separate beeing, made from evil Bowser´s or Master Hand´s magic. He could be full metal, because he looks really heavy in Super Smash Bros. If you kick him from the stage he almost can´t get back because of his weight. I didn´t play Mario Kart 8 myself, but judging from the footage i saw, i would say in Mario Kart 8 we see Mario with a metal cover like in Super Mario 64 rather then the one from SSB. BUT: That´s just my opinion. I can´t prove any of this and i still like the video you made here. Keep up the work. And math is funny :) I like that you show every step of the calculation.

My theory is that the metal powerup gives you a layer of metal flesh, with normal human organs somewhere inside. that would explain the weird inaccuracy in PGPeach's weight.

It would complicate the math slightly, but it's possible that the weight class number could have an offset... Like, instead of it being "Weight in lbs = cx", it could be "Weight in lbs = cx + b". This would allow for Mario not to be a full 50% heavier than Peach. The metals could also be hollow, which would allow for the lighter (but still very heavy) weight to make more sense.

Could you do the math based on Metal Mario and Rosegold Peach not being solid metal. Like how Colossus' Mutant power works?

The math is pretty good, but the characters can always be hollow/filled with a lighter material instead of a solid metal composition. That would allow for a weight closer to whats presented in the game.

Metal Mario is just Mario spray painted from the future. He went a little over on pasta becoming overweight and spraying him self SILVER and went back in Time to race.

Wouldn't it make more sense if it was just a metal coating? Would explain how metal mario and peach is so light. So the weight of the metal would be: Metal Marios weight- Marios weight And by doing the same to peach, and calculating how much pink gold is coating her, you can make an estimat of how much metal is coating him.
