One has to wonder how magic /works/ in mario games... It's super ambiguous and with mario games being how they are, it'd be hard to find any lore to it. You'd have to dig through the RPGs, probably... Super Paper Mario is the only one that comes to mind immediately off the top of my head as one with any semblance of focus in supernatural, especially... Thousand Year door does too, but not to the same extent.

Bowser never truly dies in any of the games, except NSMB, where he is revived using a magic pot. He is super strong. Mario & Luigi RPG's have shown that Bowser can survive excetionally much... He's survived being launched out of an exploding castle and falling into the Ocean, just to merely be found sick afterwards. He's been thrown through a castle ceiling and landed on the other half of the kingdom thanks to Peach and Starlow's magic. He's been electrocuted with an insane amount of electricity. He has been crushed and severely injured and close to death several times (although it was Mario and Luigi who saved him). He's fallen likely thousands of feet onto the ground out of a flying castle just to go try to kidnap Peach again right afterwards. He's been in contact with extreme explosions, etc. Most of Bowser's deaths weren't really deaths, and the ones that were bad were likely healed using Kamek's Magic...

What I'm worried about is how Bowser puts on his tux under his shell

Jamie this makes another theory - after rejection Mario works at New Donk City and plays games with Bowser - they becomes buddies, which actually makes Bowser fall in love with Mario. He kidnaps him (like he did with his previous love interest), but homophobic Mario's family sents Luigi to kill Bowser in the revenge.

However, that bro moment Mario shares with Bowser, patting him on the back as they both accept Peach's denial, was, legit, one of the best moments I've experienced in gaming in a long while lol. Seeing THE two defacto rivals of gaming share a moment of heartbreak together was actually really awesome. I could just see them both in a bar later that night drinking their woes away.

It's a nice plot twist but there is no way Bowser would be able to keep it secret. it would end with Bowser winning and then bragging about using Pauline to dupe Mario and at that point there's no way the two would go out after that.

Plot Twist: What if Pauline hired the Rabbits to delay Mario, ensuring Peach be married and leaving Mario open for herself?

Now THAT would have been quite the twist. Actually reminds me of an illustration I saw once, where it's the typical princess kidnapped by a dragon scenario, and the typical knight says, "let her go, it's me you want!" And then the dragon and the knight start kissing. So, I guess, maybe not as much a twist as you might think in general, but definitely a big one for this franchise.

the thing is there really isn't a timeline, the creator himself even stated it SM: If you're familiar with things like Popeye and some of the old comic characters, you would oftentimes see this cast of characters that takes on different roles depending on the comic or cartoon. They might be businessman in one [cartoon] or a pirate in another. Depending on the story that was being told, they would change roles. So, to a certain degree, I look at our characters in a similar way and feel that they can take on different roles in different games. It's more like they're one big family, or maybe a troupe of actors.

No. Everyone doesn't get that. Bowser was in one of Egadd's paintings before king Boo flipped out and stole all of them and the game right before Luigi's Mansion was Super Mario 64 where Bowser is sealed into the walls of the castle at the end unable to escape because all of the stars were restored (and presumed dead). That's like.... the entire point of that game. It's a very direct reference.

king boo is very different from bowser, though. He is mischevious, and will joke and pull pranks, while bowser is an aggressive serious villain. Not just that, but in the sports games bowser and king boo appear at the same time, so unless king boo went back in time, it wouldn't make sense

Mario is Missing was not created by Nintendo, and it isn't Canon either. Super Smash Bros is not canon, and in New Super Luigi U, Mario is simply missing... This is proven further by the fact that the game frequently asks you if you want to "write a letter to Mario" (Miiverse Post) and tell him about your adventure. Mario Carpentry, is actually called Wrecking Crew.

Leafy_Cynical He can't possibly because Bowser really does have feelings for Peach and he couldn't bring himself to kill her, but Mario is still there and he hates him so he'd rather kill his rival then Peach. Plus if he did kill Peach he would still need to deal with an angry Mario, Luigi and the rest of the kingdom though toads are weak and cowardly they might rise in rebellion with Mario and Luigi in an attempt to kill Bowser and get Mario on the throne. With the Mario Bros. and a possible army of Toads would Bowser stand a chance? Mario alone has beaten him and his army now he has to deal with an army and Mario and Luigi. Toads have also proven they can be strong like Mario. In Paper Mario there's the Sensei in the dojo of Toad Town and Prince Mush at the Glitz Pit the former champion until his disappearance. Not including these there are Blue and Orange Toad that are playable characters in the newer Mario games (The ones on Wii and Wii U) Murdering Peach is way to problematic.

Lleyton Miller For your consideration there's a Nintendo game where everyone dies to the moon crashing into the earth in a fiery blaze of death. It's called Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. That's pretty dark, Hey Link save Termina in 3 days before the moon kills us all.

Mario must've seen Pauline before if Donkey Kong was AFTER Super Mario Odyssey, so maybe after the adventures with Yoshi, he was brought to a family in Brooklyn (or Metro Kingdom) to live there and that's when he met Pauline. Eventually, he went back to the Mushroom Kingdom for some reason. That is when he meets the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, and she is attacked by Bowser, which brings us to Super Mario Bros 1 and so on.

Actually, the E3 demo *specifically* mentions Peach's wedding ring and how Mario is trying to look for it. Take a closer look at the Desert Kingdom's dialogue: The rabbits say: "Lookin' for the wedding ring? Too bad! It's Bowser's now, chumps!" So yes, Mario is in fact trying to marry Peach. Bowser likely stopped everything as usual, forcing Peach to marry him and stealing the ring Mario gave to her in the process. Any of your other theories may not be true (unless of course Nintendo throws a giant curve ball)

4:35 The rabbit says looking for the wedding ring well Bowser has it. Meaning Mario Tried to propose to peach but the ring got stolen. It also means Bowser probably hired the bunnies.

Actually, the game developer said at the e3 gameplay demonstration that the rabbits were hired by Bowser

This is nice and all, but it forgets about the DKC games, mainly Cranky Kong. Cranky Kong was the DK in the original arcade games. His son/grandson, modern DK, in your timeline appears before the arcade games. This would mean that through some time magic, Cranky Kong would have to retcon (retKONG) the DKC games out of existence only to age himself down for the arcade games, do the arcade games, than go back in time, get older, do the DKC games and retKONG the arcade games to have happened before the DKC games, and kinda' after them too...

Mark Erikson I mean, the sports games and things with dkc characters also have the baby characters in their roster. I don't think that's meant to be involved in any sort of canon. As such, it's probably possible to fit in dkc after the Mario timeline.

I feel like it would be a nice ending to have Mario marry Peach.

My mind is blown. Honestly. I'm a huge fan of game theory and all, but this, this was just... Wow, great job! You just earned another subscriber :)

Is this an interesting theory? For sure. Does Nintendo have the guts to change Mario's "Lore" so fundamentally? No way.

I'd agree, but the parallels to the other Mario games are so strong and in your face that it makes you wonder if some Nintendo executive finally went, "Well, time to try to straighten this nonsense out." So I remain on the fence

Mario games are kinda like Popeye shorts, in which each installment is it's own parallel universe unless it's clearly meant to be a direct sequel or prequel to a previous installment.

I played the game through. There's also another split in the good ending where they would call off the wedding and all games could normally follow, Galaxy, Sunshine etc.

This is a great video. This theory makes so much sense but it can be both ways bad ending or good ending. i liked how u used evidence to back up both endings. I hope when the game is out that u were right!

Mario wouldn't kill Bowser, he's too nice of a guy to do so. They still had good times (mostly the RPGs). Bowser isn't evil, he's just a mean guy, he doesn't deserve death.

DefinitivNichtSascha In the rpg series they never had good times. He usually joins up with Mario when both him and Mario are backed into a corner. Even in Bowser's: Inside story he didn't know he was working with them, and when he did he tried to kill them both. While Mario and Bowser have a pretty hostile relationship, Peach actually doesn't hate Bowser, she just doesn't like when he kidnaps her. In Bowser's inside story, she sends him cake after the whole thing is over. It shows that even though Bowser kidnaps her she really just wants to have peace between them.

They do get along pretty well in Super Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Super Paper Mario. I was more referring to these than to BiS.

someone else probably already told you. or you knew already. but i think that there is greek mythology involved in the story of mario odyssey, there are two ancient greek myths wich are basically the greek mythology bible. the illiad and the odyssey. the odyssey is about a guy named odysseus trying to get home to his wife after the trojan war. but the greek gods have a grudge against him or something so they make it almost impossible. while odysseus is gone for like 20 years because the war and the journey home take sooo long. everyone thinks he's probably dead. so other men try to marry his wife. (he's also a king btw) so that is a really cool paralel for mario odyssey. he is trying to get home before it's too late and also everyone wants to kill him. you should make a part 2

While a little out of the blue, I agree that a lot of jokes get cut/changed in the dub, kinda ruining the experience if you watched the sub first

I love how we can take games that aren’t supposed to have a timeline and put them together in a way that makes sense.

Same here... Mario and Peach aren't shown to have a big relationship... They are just really good friends... Heck, Luigi has been shown to like Peach just as much as Mario does.
