    A friend of mine just came out of the Marines with his TS clearance and got a 6-figure salary job in IT. He also did his bachelor's while enlisted and did an IT job as his MOS. Choosing the right MOS is the key.

    If you're going into the forces, get a transferable skill. This is so important. You need to have something to offer a civilian employer. There are very few lifers in the forces now. Absolutely forget combat infantry roles. You're the bottom rung at the will of the politicians, when they decide to go and take someones oil.

    My dad did 20+ years in the army, I'm at 14 and ready to get out, and I've told my kids if you're going to join go into the navy or airforce and get technical training and experience and get out. That generational service will not be sustained in the environment keeps changing

    This is related to the promotion system(not all ranks), nowdays awards accrue to points towards promotion. So people chase them. The military hands them more too. Awards used to be more about V and C, Valor and Combat. Don't blame the players blame the game.

    On the surface, it seems the Marines are the only service that still draws it present day from its days past, which is good. Not polluted by woke. We still need the grungy spear tip that pierces the enemy's heart and destroys their will to fight. Gay soldiers can serve but in no way can be found out to the public so nobody knows how many their really is.     @8:20 only one female fell out when we did our run and it was because her hip had been fucked up since the crucible. She decided to just thug it out instead of going to medical since we were days away from graduation, it was a bad idea

    87-88, Parris Island, we had ICT, 10 days in field combat conditions. We weren't Marines until graduation day. Things have changed, my son earned his EGA after the Crucible.

    I'm wondering who designed BCG's. They aren't practical for daily wearing, (no peripheral vision), and they seem to be intentionally demeaning in appearance. The first thing we did was have the lenses transplanted to aviation frames at the PX/ NEX. That was a notable improvement while still maintaining uniform regs.

    Used to, you had to do a mandatory 2 years as enlisted before being allowed to even being evaluated to go officer. That stopped somewhere in the late 1800s if memory serves. The rich people (modern equivalent to Nobels who would go into military service as officers because they thought they were too good not to) thought they were better than became officers and changed the rules once they got high enough rank.

    Why wouldn't that Lt Col not convince his daughter to go to college and follow him into the Space Force, it makes no sense to piss away 3-4 years as an enlisted Marine when you could possibly get into the Space Force. An O5 should have some pull to get his daughter in the same service he's in, even if entry into the service is tight. She looks more like she was an adopted Central American girl, the girl across the street from us was adopted from Honduras when she was an infant, her father is a 6 foot white guy, she's 4'11" Central American.

Special forces training, ranger training, basic airborne training, advanced airborne training, scuba diving training, mountain warfare training, language Training.
