Regarding "eye biter" being a myth, I offer evidence to the contrary. Mine is a single male among 13 other juvenile haps/peacocks. 4 of those 13 turned up murdered, lying on the substrate, each missing both eyes. You could see straight through their heads where eyes used to be. No other damage to the body, fins, or any sign of a fight. Granted, I did not see what happened since it was overnight when I was asleep. However, I've removed my Eye Biter to an isolation tank for a while, and all is peaceful now with the other fish. This Eye Biter is a genuine murderer and legitimately removes the eyeballs from his victims. He's a beautiful fish so I'm not sure what to do with him now

i have a tank with a 3-4inch oscar and 2 2-3 inch redhump geophagus the eyebiter at the store is a fully grown female that they had recently gotten and werent storing with other fish so idk how itd behave and im worried that if i put him in my tank she will view the smaller cichlids as prey and eat their eyes out and so forth and so on

I would not be nervous about getting them. Males get big and beautiful and females stay silver. you should keep them in a 75 gallon tank or larger. I have not found them to be aggressive and generally keep to them self's. I have never experienced or heard from my fish breeder friends any occasion when they byte eyes.

Lol. Why do people put ship wrecks in a freshwater tank? Ship only run in saltwater. Think about it. Never seen a ship in a freshwater lake.
